2013 MV Agusta Brutale 675 vs. Triumph Street Triple R - 675cc Streetfighter Shootout

- Опубліковано 16 лис 2024
- MV Agusta's Brutale 675 was introduced in 2012, while Triumph's Street Triple R received a makeover prior to entering the 2013 model year. The commonality among them is their 675cc inline-Triple engines, superbike handlebars and lack of sportbike bodywork. From here the two bikes diverge in performance mannerisms, technologies, price and visual appeal. Which manufacturer concocted a better middleweight two-wheel ruffian is what we'll now determine.

I've got the MV and I absolutely love it! Best in Normal mode for everyday riding, but sport mode is totally bananas! The engine noise is infectious and it's very revvy.
I own a 2010 STR with lots of mods; QuickShifter, Arrow 3-1, KyleUsa linear shock linkage and Ohlin's shock, 2T larger rear sprocket 520 conversion, etc. IMO motorcycles are so good these days that saying one is better than another is just splitting hairs or expressing personal preference. Three cylinder naked bikes are just plain fast, light, and fun; they deliver everything for street riding.
Hey I hope you're still on youtube! Was wondering how you feel about the extra 2 teeth on the Striple? Have you tried other sprocket setups? Did it help kick up that 1st gear?
Lorenzo Vergani IMO the +2 rear sprocket is perfect; it hits the same top speed on the level (revs a bit higher), roll-ons are quicker, and it only revs around 200 rpm higher in top gear at legal highway speeds. A +1 front sprocket or +3 rear would be over-geared for riding on public roads. The front wheel would head for the sky in 1st gear with stock gearing though. Damn, I hate to put it away for the winter but is getting too cold here (eastern Canada)
i have a 2014 STR with -1 onf the front, at 120kph it revs about 500-600 rpms more tho. Which isnt bad at all :D
And i believe your 2010 STR doesnt have those tall first gearings yet so it's alot easier to point it to the sky imo. I kinda have to clutch up to do that or i'm doing somthing wrong :P
Can't go wrong.
@@MrSimon9100Maybe try +2 on the sprocket, which I imagine you've done by now...... YEWWWWWWWWWWWW
I have a Street Triple. I wanted a light bike that could change direction quickly but also had a lot of power in a straight line, and also comfortable to ride for commuting and touring. I have not been disappointed.
+Robert S Agreed, rode a z800 just before I made up my mind for the triumph, and man was it heavy
I watched this back then ,today I just bought a triumph street triple r . Awesome video it educated me on this bike.
MV catching my eyes, Triumph catching my heartbeat...
Glad i bought the smooth and sleek street triple R, with its fantastic chassis and suspension, almost organic frame design. You can have your gladius with a single sided swingarm
Great video ! Triumph make good overall bikes but MV make you feel Alive!!
I just bought my first MV Ahusta (Brutale 675, 2015). So exited for spring to arrive!
I can see where Sean is coming from, but I'd go with the Triumph. I do almost all my traveling by bike, and the Street Triple comes across as more of a daily rider that you can have fun with on the weekends. The Brutale seems more like a twitchy weekends-only bike - fun from time-to-time, nice on the track, but annoying day-in and day-out without tweaking. For an only bike, I'd want the Triumph, but for a second bike I'd take the Brutale - I'd love to pass it in the garage all the time.
Have you ridden any of the Triumph triple engines? The power delivery is so smooth, one thing it can do without is TC.
As for the sound, in stock form its great, with an Arrow without baffles, its epic.
Sean Matic, professional hooligan, ...and rider of elegant distinction.
I have a pair of those black/white Shift shoes, and I love them!
Couldn't disagree more about the brakes, I own both these bikes and the brutale's brembos have so much bite and power
Great vid guys, excellent quality and content.
strange, my Mv 675 brakes were absolutely superb.
Please, do it again whit the currents models of this two bikes, and it is possible test in the City
The MV 675 is Fun! What a smile I had
Great review I'd have to buy the Triumph
Great video guys. To many reviews pick the safe sensible option, and that's really not what biking is about is it? unless you want a commuter bike, so was really nice to see the MV being picked.GOOD CHOICE.I think the sunglasses guy swung way to easily to the Triumph. I've ridden a STR and yes it's a nice bike but DULL.
Man, I was hoping you guys would hold off on the shootout until y'all got the new Yamaha fz-09
amazing quality video guys!
Somebody give me one! Idont care which one!
Well I have a 12' Striple and its awesome. maybe a little dull but over all a fantastic bike for everything.
I'll take one of each!
Could an mv675 be a beginner bike if j start out in rain mode?
Before you get all righteous, you may want to pause the video and take a closer look - they appear to be motorcycle riding boots made to look like sneakers. I see a shift panel on the toe and lace keeper, so not your typical Reeboks. You'll also notice that he's wearing Kevlar jeans with armor
guys there is a new kid on the block !!! the all new yamaha MT-09, it looks awesome, with a cheaper price tag %
I remember back in 07 when I heard the street triple was being built I knew I had to have one. I was exited about the MV but it is having MAJOR build quality issues - typical MV you might say. I am not in the least bit exited about the FZ-09, dont think the Japanese can pull this one off, and to me its a bit ugly. I will stick with my '12 STripleR (with the better gearing!)
.
That Brutale is beautiful
lol at the wave in the beginning
We've done several. Go to Motorcycle daught calm to check them out. Also on the way is a three-way comparison of a Ninja 300, CBR500R and Ninja 650 to find out the pros and cons of beginner-themed sportbikes that vary in engine sizes.
Buying new, the Brutale is now double the price of the Striple
Triumph is a beast .. much more refined than the MV (IMO)
ST3 FTW !!!
Two badass bikes! I like the STR!!
first of all : i never miss a review on Motorcycle channel, but i'm afraid i'm gonna have to disagree with you :). for me the only down-side to the ducati is the price tag % but with that you get the intention to details + the name; on the other hand Triumph pipt the MV because it is much consistence and does well all arround. +or-the same reason you have eliminated the ducati for :) !!!
MV Wins all day. Like comparing an Aston Martin to a Ferrari. Motorcycles aren’t about being sensible. They are all heart.
FZ09 should be the one to have, all things being about money that is but the MV would be my choice and the street triple the last of the three. P.S. I'm hopefully picking up the 09 in few weeks to a month (fingers crossed)
Almost came off at the end lol
Darker colors always make objects appear "smaller"
Corvette and a FERRARI are both cars. One pull on your heart strings more.
The differeces are exaggerated. The tester speaks of the Triumph Street Triple like it's a Bandit 650 or even a Bonneville. In reality it's a riot of a bike, a real adrenaline pump. I'v got it and I still can't believe what a machine it is.
+MotoMarios The Striple gets near universal acclaim here and elsewhere. Have you ridden the bike they're comparing it to?
+opmike343 Yes, everything in this life is relative but still...
i rode both and went for the MV they ironed out the fueling issues now and its crazy fun. its definatly the less relaxing bike and its less sure footed especially at low around the garage speed. nothiing beets it on mountain roads though if you love pulling wheelies outa corners :). my best mate went for the stripple and i cant blame him its a great bike even if he looses every drag race :):)
Latigo canyon :3 so good and ugh in a bike or two I will have a naked triple...
nabil friend already in the comparative youtube with a ducati street and creme that mv was better to check the video and you will notice, triumph Street triple 675 the best.
there are hardly any MV's where I live
I might be wrong, so feel free to correct me, but isn't it pronounced " emm vee ah-GOOSE- tah?
MrTrazzie I think it is
Isn't this pretty much exactly what happened with the mv 800 vs ducati
For me, the whole passion thing is over-rated. I don't care how hot she is, sooner or latter that lust is going to get old. The Street Triple does everything I want, when I want and never puts a wheel wrong. I'll take that kind of canyon carving connection any day over a bike that makes me strike wood for maybe 6 months, and then I'm bored. Been there, done that.
I'm 42 now, goddamit. I totally agree with you. And it's not like the st3 isn't a bitch all in her own right.
Triumph way better to thrash around and learn to ride.... breaks and suspension is way more important than low gearing on ht MV .... guys ... breaking is acceleration aswell =fun
MV moving art! Ferrari or a Chevy corvette!
If you have these bikes in the Caribbean, it spells trouble, no parts no dealership
Brutale is riddled with problems and extremely poor dealer support. It may fit at your heart strings but for how long until it breaks down?
Practicality so the street triple for me
Gran turismo music in the begining?
I take it that Tom does not like the MV.
A comparo that does not mention weight or throttle response - that's a dissapointing approach.
Str outsells the MVP nough said
there is no 675cc three-cylinder Ducati :P
The street triple is pretty much unbeatable in terms of naked sports bikes, Triumph really outdid themselves and continue to do so with the new 2013 model.
goddamn that windscreen/headlight combo on the triumph is so ugly!! :S it looks like the head of E.T. sticking out of the bike!!
+Oscar S it's been also called "Wall-e"
i have one, it kinda grows on you tho. I'm not a big fan of single headlights either so the ST3 R is a win win for me :P
i miss the old double round headlight
felix pinto we can get those but would be wise to upgrade to LEDs for lower energy drainage and better bulb L. Right?
"Professional hooligan"What a shity thing to say.The "hooligan" did nothing of the sort but he did say "you know" eleven(11) times. The "cool" guy with the glasses also said "you know" eleven times. So they seem to be equally annoying.
Why don't these airheads describe M-V sevice interval charges and insurance rates and
parts hassles.....just sayin'.
Did you think the Triumph is boring?
FinneousPJ1 That MV must be really exciting
It's not that exciting a bike. I think it excited him because it was something new, and different. Kind of like the feeling you get the first time you ride a Ducati. But, I'll bet if it revisited this bike in a year he would have a different opinion. Of course, as he said, it's all subjective.
Yeah most people say the Triumph is brilliant
Gran turismo sound track lol
is it just me or does the STriple look small?
GT5 MUSIC I HEAR
in my humble opinion the triumph does need traction control, better designed head lights, "i hate the new ones", and a more exiting sound %
Str dominates mv. Personal opinion.
Gran turismo ftw
!!! why not against a ducati ?
street triple is dull... i thought it was a hooning icon
Lol I think he could of hidden that dollar Triumph put in his pocket a bit better, Just kidding. But yeah, he was very single sided and didn't play the pros or cons very well.
Putting that piece of trash next to an Italian creation is an insult to MV. MV all the way.
Plus :i'll let you up into one of my durty secrets, everyone says that the Triumph sounds epic, at first a though soo but after a while a hated it, it's constantly whining like a Grumbling Spoiled girlfriend, no one wants that !!! lol it should sound more like a superbike less like a vacuum cleaner "just my opinion" .
Why is the guy wearing sneakers on the motorcycle test ride?? Bad example for the riders!!!
