    Do ingredients like carbon 60 (c60) and copper peptides (GHK-Cu) improve hair loss? The answers might surprise you.
    Recently, Jay Campbell and Nick Andrews appeared on Ben Greenfield's podcast to discuss their company - Aseir Custom - and a new dual topical product formulated for hair regrowth: Auxano Grow.
    Its two key ingredients? A copper peptide known as GHK-Cu, and an antioxidant-like molecule known as carbon 60 - also called c60.
    Jay Campbell has claimed that this product is, “The World’s Most Powerful Hair Regrowth Solution”. He has also written promotional emails claiming that, "Nick and I have solved the age old dilemma of Hair Loss."
    So, are copper peptides and c60 truly effective in the fight against hair loss? Can these ingredients stop the progression of pattern hair loss (androgenic alopecia)? Can copper peptides and C-60 regrow hair in men and women? And is this product worth the $250 recurring price tag?
    In this reaction video, we'll uncover my take on the data (and my personal opinions on C-60, GHK-Cu, and Auxano Grow).
    Specifically, we'll dive into C60 and GHK-Cu: what they are, how they work, and their potential effects on human hair regrowth. We'll also uncover if the marketing materials on Aseir Custom's website align with scientific reality.
    As a medical editor who specializes in hair loss disorders, I can't emphasize enough how important it is to scrutinize product claims. The hair loss industry is filled with deception and dishonesty - particularly in its scientific communication to consumers. This why I prioritize education - not product purchases - for hair loss sufferers. Education is perhaps the most effective way to teach people how to make the right treatment choices.

    UPDATE: Jay Campbell has posted a response video: ua-cam.com/video/WC_p7rGIx_k/v-deo.html
    Inside the video, Jay asserts that I am trained by big pharma and that I have the worst hair style he has ever seen. He does not address a single point of criticism that I raised in my video. Instead, he defends the efficacy of Auxano Grow by saying that he is receiving 2-3 five-star reviews daily on his product, and that these reviews are strong enough evidence to demonstrate that his product is working.
    What he fails to mention is that he has been sending out email incentives to his customers - offering them 50% off Auxano Grow in exchange for a video review where someone tells the world how much they love Auxano Grow.
    As of this morning, Jay has deleted the comment he left on my video (the one where he offered to debate me and stated I have been brainwashed by big pharma). Last night, I left a comment on his video where I raised a few points of concern with his comments toward me. As of this morning, my comment appears to have been deleted.
    The good news? In Jay's response video, he says he is putting together a clinical trial with Vantis! Jay acts as an affiliate for Vantis, and they're the company that did his scalp micropigmentation procedure. Barring the glaring conflicts of interest with this sort of partnership in a clinical trial, I am super excited for it to happen. I've asked Jay to provide the clinical trial number, and I also offered to help him with study design free of charge.
    If anyone is curious, my reply to Jay's video can be found below.
    --REPLY TO JAY'S VIDEO--
    Hey Jay! I appreciate you putting out this video. I wanted to clarify a few things:
    -I’m sorry that you don’t like my haircut! I’m not sure what relevance this has to the points I raised in my video: specifically, whether Auxano Grow is supported by sound science, and how that science is conveyed to consumers.
    -I’ve never had a hair transplant, and I don’t wear a hair system or use hair fibers.
    -I have never worked for any pharmaceutical company - not even as a medical editor. I’m a consumer advocate first and foremost. I’m also not trained by big pharma. We already had an exchange about this, so I was surprised to see you falsely suggest this here when I had previously told you it was untrue.
    -People have forwarded me recent emails from your team offering 50% off bottles of Auxano Grow in exchange for “a 30-60 second Video Testimonial saying how much you love Aseir and how it's transformed your life”. My guess is that this might skew your testimonials. Many people consider this an indirect way to buy reviews at scale. As such, I don’t think these reviews are a fair rebuttal to the concerns I raised in the video about efficacy.
    -I would never attack someone’s spirituality. If my reaction to your site’s tagline came off that way to you, I sincerely apologize. I did not know that the tagline was of spiritual significance. When I read it, I interpreted it as meaning any number of things.
    -My issue is not with you, your spirituality, or your haircut. My issue is with Aseir Custom’s scientific communication to consumers.
    -I’m thrilled to hear you’re going to do a clinical trial. Would you mind passing along the clinical trial number once it is registered? In that regard, I’d be happy to look at your trial design and comment on potential areas where I see opportunities to improve data quality without raising the budget (and I’ll do that for free).
    -Since your video doesn't include any scientific rebuttals to the points I raised in my video, I’m limited in what else I can say. I’m looking forward to any objections you raise!

    Great video Rob as always. I don’t know how these companies are allowed to make the claims they do and basically lie to get the sales uptake. Hair loss is such a sensitive issue for those of suffering from it and they really play on this desperation to find a cure or even a product that actually does what it says it does. Can’t wait for the next video. Regards, Simon. (UK)

    Excellent video Rob! Keep the longer videos coming!
    I've been personally using *AHK-Cu* not GHK-Cu for over 6 months now primarily to combat premature greying because I think it has some merit in that regard. I compound the AHK-Cu myself, I don't buy it premade. And honestly, I've seen some marginal regrowth as a fringe benefit. It's important to note that I use certain novel/exotic vehicles to enhance the permeation kinetics of AHK (416.9 Da) and to achieve sufficient dermal delivery. So, from my own personal anecdote, GHK doesn't work but AHK might have marginal merit if it's genuine, pure AHK-Cu and if it's delivered in an effective manner. I know I use >99.5% purity AHK-Cu because I test it via FTIR and HPLC.

      Thanks! I’m controversial because (1) my hair loss pattern is DUPA which is harder to see on camera, (2) I responded well to a poorly studied experimental intervention (and then published a study about it), and (3) I think scalp tension might accelerate AGA. Beyond that, none of my opinions or interpretations of the literature deviate that significantly from others. Thanks a ton for watching.

      What bothers me about Rob's comments is he knows full well the "thickness" of the hair really isn't going to legitimarely change until the hair falls out and then regrows.
      So they it begs to question why he didn't quote the duration of the study.

    2:13 It says "Up to 90-Day Supply"
    *"Up to"*
    So basically it's anything between 0 and 90. So at MOST you'd be looking at 250 dollars four times a year. That's 80 dollars a month!

    • @PerfectHairHealth
      @PerfectHairHealth  2 роки тому +3

      Exactly! Barring a discount or opting for recurring delivery, you’re looking at spending close to $1,000 per year. You can see how easily these costs can creep up on someone - not just for this product, but for any product.
      I still want to leave the door open for the possibility of this product having a beneficial effect on our hair - even if the current data suggest that these ingredients demonstrate no difference versus placebo across most human hair-related endpoints.
      Regardless, the lacking (and mostly negative) evidence must be communicated properly in marketing materials, especially at these price points.
      I didn’t bother getting into safety, but I also have major concerns about C60’s safety profile when used as a topical. One study found that in mice exposed to degraded C60 (due to sunlight exposure), health outcomes and lifespan dramatically diminished.
      These are things consumers should weigh when considering whether a product is worth the investment, or if a product is better than what else is already out there.

      @@PerfectHairHealth Rob! Thanks for replying. I've got a burning question that you HAVE to answer!
      In your nizoral video you talk about how p.acnes can accelerate hair loss. I imagine then that the skin flora is important.
      Can food and grease in your hair cause bad bacteria to grow?
      It's a little embarrassing. But I have, on more than one occasion, done the scalp massage and realized I've had some grease, or even sticky food residue on my hands.
      And it's not like I can wash my hair a billion times a day lol. Maybe you can't give a confident answer. But do you think it'd be a cause for concern at all?
      Also on an unrelated note. Your scalp massages are killer! Dunno if I'm a hyper-responder, but my scalp has definitely gotten looser over the past 3 months!

    Will you ever sell those wooden massagers to non members?

    • @PerfectHairHealth
      @PerfectHairHealth  2 роки тому +4

      We've been testing out these massage tools with members, and we're having a lot of fun with the trial-and-error process. Some of the results reported by members have been incredible.
      In general, I'm apprehensive to start selling physical products. The reason is simple: the moment someone starts selling physical products, they open themselves up to biasing research in favor of selling those products - consciously or otherwise.
      I see this scenario all the time: a company starts selling a supplement / topical / device for hair loss, and then new research emerges to refute the efficacy of that product,. But rather than stop selling that product or change its formulation, the company just starts cherry-picking data to misrepresent its effectiveness to consumers.
      I never want to do that, which is why we've avoided selling physical products since starting the site. Rather, we choose to fund our own research / support the site through selling information, services, and the personal time of both me and my research team. The massage tools are just one way that we try to give back to those inside our membership. They're free for everyone inside, and they're not available elsewhere. On that note, we have a few innovations to the tools coming soon - and we hope to roll these out to members ASAP.

    • @PerfectHairHealth
      @PerfectHairHealth  Рік тому +2

      That's 100% correct! The scalp massages are built on mechanistic data, interventional clinical data in non-balding men, and cross-sectional survey studies measuring self-assessments. That all equates to low qualities of evidence!
      I think the two big differences are that (1) we're very open about this, and (2) the massages are also free - including the PDF and video demonstration a part of our 2019 study. In other words, we're not trying to obfuscate the data (or its quality), nor are we trying to sell anyone the free video on massaging.
