Thank you all for watching, I know this one was a little longer than usual! If you have any more questions, I also recently did an interview with Methodshop about my process, so they'll probably be answered in there! methodshop.com/pokemon-vs-godzilla-stop-motion/
Ooh, I love 9, that one was a huge inspiration for Big Hal's Junkyard! I don't have many behind-the-scenes photos or videos, but I'll see if I have enough to put a video together!
Thank you for courting the muse with such persistence. Very good payoff, that piece. The music really fits the action and gives it a real old school nuanced humor. And I am a big G fan. You have done the monster no insult.
Thank you so much. This video has brought SOOOO much joy and happiness to me and my daughter. We literally watch the pexachu video EVERY NIGHT before bed.
@@mootroidXproductions some call it boring due to all the political segments but I personally enjoy it, makes it feel more real and they don’t do the typical anime route making the USA military so incompetent and inferior to the JSDF
Holy crap, it's you! I had no idea you were still active! Dude, your films were a huge part of my inspiration back when I was starting out, so it's a huge honor to know you enjoyed my work. Hope you're finding some solid animation work nowadays- I still check your channel every so often to see if I've missed anything new!
Dude, you are talented and funny. Dead pan funny is the best funny. I enjoyed this behind-the-scenes video as much as your completed production. You should go far. I hope you go far.
It was more over the course of two years, spread out between projects. I talked about it in more detail here: methodshop.com/pokemon-vs-godzilla-stop-motion/
it's kinda like when everyone says any stop motion video looks like robot chicken "have you guys heard of stop motion? i get robot chicken vibes from stop motion! i think stop motion might be a fan of robot chicken!"
Just by looking at the UA-cam video I knew it was gonna be good but then I see hunke Pikachu and then I’m thinking dang that man must have 10000 attack points on it
The end made me sad all I’m saying is as a godzilla fan I hate when he dies but for this one it looks pretty darn sick keep up the good work I believe in you man
Fun seeing the thought process and work that went into this masterpiece, your reddit fame is well-deserved!! Also definitely gonna steal that flashlight technique, it really sells the atomic breath effect so well it’s crazy
Really great behind the scenes video. I have a body kun and I agree the hands are not the best quality and can fall off or have a bad time holding stuff also probably cause I have the less expensive version. Also I have two similar rigs for flight from my Gundam and bodykun set. Great work on answering the questions great editing and sources of info and great humour also!!! Have a great day ;P -Rapid Edit: the link to your friends channel doesn’t work for me btw
Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked it! And I tested out the link a few times but I can't find any problems. If anyone else has the same issue, I'll see what I can do to fix it.
"youtube hates animators" I feel that way too, but I would go further and say fiction or serialized storytelling. The youtube algorithm seems to be rigged for influencers and trending topics, but you really need to do some juggling with the thumbnails and descriptions and tags to make it appear in search if you don't. I actually found your video on reddit first.
Thank you! I've got a huge library from a ton of different sources, but a lot of them come from Footagecrate, Epidemic Sound, and Adobe. And then a fair chunk of them are just from searching for sounds on UA-cam and ripping them with mp3 converters.
at first I was like "I'm not gonna watch this seems boring" and then I was like well he must have spent a long time on it and its only like 3 mins I guess I was not prepared.
Idk if you've seen the cursed attack on titan woody from toy story meme but this pikachu is giving me made vibes of that lol. But it looked really painstaking to make alone with yout other projects and I'm glad you're getting the recognition you deserve. UA-cam does hate animators for some reason unfortunately. My little brother makes sfm animations so I understand. I'm also sorry you are going through depression, as someone whose facing their own battle with depression I understand that pain. I just hope you realize you got some great creative talent and what you make is quality shit and that is a fact despite what depressive thoughts may tell you.
Dude thank you for this video. I gotta agree on the Rebel T6, I did an animation with it, actually the one I have posted on my channel currently, but god damn is that thing hard to work with. Every time I would actually start getting somewhere, whoopsies! All out of battery. That entire animation was a very frustrating process as I didn't have anything connected to my camera to see the frames so essentially it was just guess work, based off slowly scrolling through the photos I had already taken, so the frame amount was very inconsistent. I really would love to do another stop motion soon, but I need to prepare next time I decide to do one, because god that was a hellish process.
Great video Charles you did a fantastic job and were incredibly resourceful! ❤ Caldwell would be very proud... I wonder if he's been watching or showing your channel off in class

I'm a bit new to stop motion, I've been doing it for a couple of years now but more of a hobby than a job, but I would like to make it my job, how many frames per second do you recommend I do? Right now I'm at 10 fps, and so I was surprised to hear that pexachu vs godzilla was only at 12 fps, because it's way more fluid than mine, of course I realize that I'm still learning and my stop motion isn't going to be super fluid but I still thought I would ask
Look, i was fine with pexachu beating godzilla, it was funni, but it also would have been funni if you made shin godzilla mutate into his own muscle man body and then him and pika pika man duked it out. Just saying
i mean if it's cheap then go ahead and try it out ideally you want software with effects that can be altered so you can use a few at once to get the look you're after
I wonder if there could be open source ai imaging software in the future that could detect clear plastic stands in stop motion shots and remove them from images. Much like how deepfakes work or things like 4K Final Fantasy 7 Mods Remako.
From the first couple years of videos to this, the progression is inspirational. Consider me a new subscriber! Maybe a patron soon, I want to see more and might want to make some myself!
