I've never played DnD, but in RPGs I typically prefer casters or archers. so looking over 5e classes I would 100% be either a Wizard or Ranger.
Sjins gonna go crazy with bees, mahogany trees and husbandries again lol (oh jeez he's gonna freeze bees too)

See if you can craft a hanger. Its used om rotten flesh to make leather. Also Barbarian is my favorite DnD class
The Create mod is gonna be useful in making a lot of farms and items, like an iron farm (without a need of villagers).
If no one has mentioned it yet, you can craft a mob yoinker that lats you pick up mobs and carry them in your inventory. It's one of my favorite things to use.
Love how many ways you can play ATM9, I'd be flying around with a jetpack by now. Love learning about Mine Colonies from your videos.
This series is very theraputic to me. Thank you Sjin for your time and dedication to create content that is an escape to reality. Been watching since Feed the World and haven't looked back. Keep up the great work!

Illusionist. It's surprisingly nice to have a beholder attack its own shadow for 3 turns.
Love the look of the colony so far. Also the builder looking like a 18th cetury american colonist is neat. Side note, iirc in ATM9 you can shear leather off of cows with shears, like wool from sheep. Might help in getting the leather a bit faster and easier now. (That if you didn't find that out by the time you read this)
Favorite class in DnD: Monk til 4th, then Shaman. did lycanthropes til the Shifter race arrived cause I always had to play a fuzzy race.

My favorite D&D class is the arcane trickster, a prestige class from one magic class, like sorcerer or wizard, and the rogue class. As far as Minecraft goes, I've just gotten the idea of setting up a Fortress colony in the middle of the ocean, with the docks from the Cavern colony.

My favourite D&D class is probably a High Elf or a Wood Elf or a Drow or maybe a Ranger I don't know I haven't played for a long time lol

I saw Ars Nouveau is in this mod, if you want, they fixed it up to where you might be able to use it as a magical form of sophisticated storage. I've been testing it, and it looks like you can use it with Mine Colonies.

Not gonna lie ive struggled to get out of my loop playing only high elf wizards, though when a second campaign started in a world where i already had a high elf wizard, i settled on making a different character: a dwarven artificer/wizard multiclass. So still a wizard xD
I play a good ol pal of dan. Paladin oath of ancients, they get speak with animals and Larian studios always makes great interactions with the animals.
Favorite class... oh man, that's a hard one. But honestly, typically Ranger (at least before 5e and after it got some reworks in 5e).
NGL, I'm just surprised it took him until the second episode to take damage from starving.
Looking forward to see Sjin playing around with Create Trains.

For RPGs without a true Ranger, I just have to make due getting as close to that as I can. I even do it in Minecraft. Thanks again, I always enjoy and learn from your videos. I got to get some straw!

Hahaha the mobs with Sophisticated backpacks with the jukebox augment. It is rare but sometimes you can get a backpack by killing mobs that have one.

love the idea of going heavily into the farming category of the colony, like sure it's fun to see everything, but i think a slightly more specifically dedicated idea will look really great
in dnd i think i most enjoy rogue adjacent type classes, mostly for the stealth as i'm more timid in those sorta games, it is kinda fun also though to play as a kinda aggressive warrior as well idk. not the most familiar with proper terms lmao, the only times i've played it are with ppl's very customized versions of games
Paladine Oathbreaker having multiclassed into necromancer...OP as hell and ironically not a bad guy unless played that way lol

Im really enjoying Baldur's Gate 3 too, such a massive game. Also playing as an evil drow, draconic blood sorceress, to be more precise.
Best class? Druidz!!! Damn i think sjin is the only creator to have viewers watch to the very end, in case of... well purple scarecrow types! LOL i know i have been watching to much feed the world I keep scanning the backgrounds of every flyby and Sjin close ups!!
Oooo you’ve asked a hard question! Hmmm. I think my favorite dnd class is the Druid, something about just being able to turn into a bear and wreck everything attracts me
Favorite DnD class is definitely the druid! I love nature magic and I love the ability to heal, buff and debuff, and deal damage!
Mine is fine-ish so far. I managed to solve the whole Druid thing without too much issue (being a Druid background definitely helped alot) but i fear, i'm taking a bit too long to find a cure. Trying to get the head-honcho Druid back and probably just aggroed every single goblin now. :D
Love your videos and content I'm glad you're still making videos and I'm glad to see this series back and for baldur's gate 3 first off would love to see a playthrough with you you're one of my favorite content creators and I would just love to see what shenanigans you get into and for my play through I was a paladin and because I was a dark urge I just lost my oath because while I was sleeping I apparently murdered someone so now I'm embracing the shadows and the powers of evil for the cause of defending others so I've become a paladin with necromancy and I'm going to use the dead to protect the living

I have owned Minecraft for a while now and still have not played it. But this mod looks amazing. I did play Minecraft on the PS3 so i know how vanilla works :D.
Sjin my personal recommendation to add to every mod i play of ATM series is MCA Reborn that way i have more of a role in the foundation of the colony for mine colonies

Favored class for me is generally Sorcerer, when i am allowed to play, if the Eddition supports it ive wanted to play warlock, but newest editions of the game undervalued the warlocks big draw for me so sorcerer is fine
Favorite D&D class? Wizard. Gotta go Wizard. Evocation to be more specific.
Haven't played all the classes in d&d yet so still need to see what is a staple for me to go with
Kensei Monk is my favorite at the moment was disappointed BG3 didn't have that subclass lol
My favourite D&D 5e class would be a mountain dwarf axe&shield fighter/brute (UA) resiliant in both Dex and Wisdom. Awesomely survivable and outdamages everyone too. Played that from levels 1 through to 20 in a recent 4 year long campaign. Playing in another game at the moment and am a variant human light cleric with resiliant constitution, picked up warcaster at level 4.
Warcaster is a great feat
Baldurs gate 3 is amazing.
My fav class is cleric
My favorite DnD class always been Hexblade. but no multiclass cheese, just ton of flavor hexblade half elf. (my other choices are Artificer armorer hobgoblin :3 OR Firbolg Druid spores)

If your not going to do cave or underground parts of your settlement, consider at least making some buildings as basements to pre-existing ones if applicable. Not only does this help out more with housing or guards, but this also makes it easier to keep your citizens much closer to where they need to go and make it much easier when planning since you can reserve space for your more aesthetically pleasing builds
Rogue is my favorite. I learn a little magic so I can misty step behind people.
Paladin - my name submission of 'Foamtankard' is actually the name of my dwarf paladin in my D&D campaign :D
gonna be honest, favorite DnD class will always be between my OG fighter and a wizard, Samurai and chronomancy respectively for the subclasses.
Has to be a rogue, hands down. I might save your life, I might break your leg, who knows?
DnD? As with IRL, I tend to focus on "being Batman". Not literally. It comes from the name of an old guide by Logic Ninja that outlines the philosophy of being prepared for anything, and making the most of the "tools" at your disposal. [1]
And, since the most useful and powerful ability for ANY class is, and has always been MAGIC, it is a guide about how to be the best magic-user.
Don't focus on stuff that other classes can already do well.
Fireballs and lightning bolts are flashy, but they don't do anything special.
Any farmer, child, or fighter can pick up a rock and beat something to death. Why would you waste near-infinite possibilities replicating a job that can be done by anyone that can swing a big stick around. You can always hire more of those people.
You COULD be flying, walking on the ceiling, being invisible, folding space, having a conversation with someone in another continent in real-time, making the enemy fight for you, creating things from raw-nothingness, manipulating the flow of time, remembering things that happened to other people, trading with other dimensions, manipulating the dreams of others, or any number of other interesting things that are otherwise impossible or incredibly difficult.
Build a giant rolodex of spells so you always have exactly what you need to handle everything.
This doesn't have to stop making things fun either. Sometimes coming up with creative solutions to problems is the most fun way to beat them.
Therefore, the best classes add in as many spells and powers from as many classes at once.
Arcane Hierophant(AH) and Fochlucan Lyrist(FL) are particular standouts from 3.5e.
AH offers full Wizard AND Druid spell progression. And it even combines your Animal Companion and Familiar powers.
Know what is more useful than having a magically linked 1hp crow/rat/frog that can talk and share your spellcasting?
Having a 120hp Dire Grizzly Bear that can speak 8 languages, talk to other animals and plants, is literally the second smartest party-member after you, and shares your spells (And depending on your DM, possibly gain class/prestige levels. They will definitely have the stat and skill requirements.)[2]
You will heal better than a Cleric, without having to suck-up to some 'divine' power.
Your Druid half also get free access to all the flashy fire/lightning/tornado nonsense that we ALL WANT to pick even though we know better.
That means you will have a clear head, for taking every useful Wizard spell.
There is even room for some meta-magic.
FL takes the okay fighter/rogue/wizard combo and poses the question "What if I spent 5% less time trying to stab people and got 85% of the useful Wizard and Cleric stuff instead?"
They get full Arcane/Divine progression AND all the Bard progression that matters on top.
They usually know EVERYTHING since they dabble in every skill. Plus, Wizards are usually pretty smart, Cleric(loremaster?) are pretty wise, and Bards hear every rumor.
Both will end up with more spell-slots than they can even realistically use.
Note: Magic really does break thing though. You need a good outside-the-box DM.
Stories are usually base on OUR world's rules. Magic flips a lot of those assumptions unless it is REALLY rare.
Take something 'standard' like a castle.
Walls do a good job in our world. Big stone walls are good protection. But big stone walls also take a lot of time, effort, money, and planning.
Why spend 10+ years and a treasury to build big stone walls, when there are thousands of people in the world who can speak some words and turn them into mud? How much protection do they REALLY offer, when people can shrink a bunch of boulders, fly 5 miles above your castle, and drop them on you several times a day?
Heck, walls seem like a pretty stupid investment of time in a world where giants can step over them, birds/dragons can fly over them and pick up your house, or some bored nymphs/pixies can regrow the forest your outpost was built upon overnight.
A LOT of assumptions go right out the window when magic get's involved, and these worlds probably SHOULDN'T look so familiar to us. [3]

Some of the "colorful" language didn't age super-well as reading stuff from different time periods rarely does.
Keep in mind that this was (probably) written by a teenager in the 90's.
Don't be mad at it for what it is. Be proud that we have moved on, and use it as motivation to be better in the future.
[2] In one game I played, our Barbarian died a horrible death in the middle of nowhere. It would have been several sessions before we could hope to resurrect or replace them. So, we had the player take over playing my bear instead. We had so much fun with it that we played out the entire rest of the campaign like that. Midway through, this armored bear (druidic full-plate barding) earned a lordship and was granted a fiefdom by one of the nations for turning the tide of a war. Later, they ascended to become a minor divine power that showed up from time-to-time in other campaigns.
I even ran a campaign for over a year where the main plot-point boiled down to a massive tribal war between 3 religious factions, over whether 'Scruff' was The Bravest, This Wisest, or Furriest of all the gods. I took the whole thing SUPER seriously and didn't reveal the factions intent for over 8 months.
[3] Assumptions often break IRL too. As a 'Security Person' (Physical, network, Operations, etc) I run into all sorts of weird "This doesn't really make sense" situations.
I've seen 'Secure' rooms used to store money/valuables with strong metal doors and good locks, only to lift a drop ceiling tile and see that the walls don't actually go all the way up. Those locks might keep people our for 90 minutes, but they can just climb over the wall with a short ladder.
I have also seen good strong doors installed in REGULAR drywall walls. Or rooms for valuables storage that share a (drywall) wall with the neighboring store's bathroom. 20 seconds with a box-cutter and a shove will let someone walk right in. (They lost 200+ flagship cell-phones the week before release. The thief spent the afternoon unpacking all the phones into his small backpack and left all the packaging in the bathroom. 3 hours for $180k of phones...)
You will also see other dumb stuff like people posting pictures of themselves proudly posing with the keys to their new building.
Those keys aren't magic. If you show us a picture of the cuts, people can just make a new key that will work in your lock...
Favorite D&D class?
Probably Cleric because he has that nifty Sticks to Snakes spell.
At least he does in Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara by Capcom.
While I am personally more suited to the wizard or artificer, my favorite class is the wild magic sorcerer. Love me some chaotic RNG~
hmm my favourite kinda of dnd class I think is a toss up between wild magic sorcerer and druid, I love druids, but wild magic is fun
I have only played Baldur's Gate 3 so my knowledge of DnD isn't the best but I do like the class I picked I think it was called an Urge its like a warrior mage I think.
I always end up disabling wandering traders as they drive me nuts. They get everywhere and won't go away, lol. I see you have 2 already, lol.
