I’m here working with our church team to start live streaming our services. We have closed temporarily due to COVID-19. The information you have shared will help us get connected. Thank you!
Thank you Digital Pastor Seth, I am going to try to use your live streaming information in our Mosque for our five times a day prayers. I also suggest to all Muslims who saw this video to make a suggestion to their Imam to live stream especially Friday prayers and all the Islamic religious celebrations such as Ramadan Koran readings and lessons, Id Al fitr, Id al Adha, etc...
Thanks for sharing, very insightful. Just got our live stream working this week via Facebook for our pastor as gatherings of more than 50 people are not allowed due to COVID-19.
Great video for beginners. The three year old camera used for the video is now down to $700 used on Amazon. It's a joy to see a young man like you have poise and command in front of the camera. You are greatly blessed and I hope you prosper and share your enthusiasm and vigor in many venues.
This video is going to get a sudden spike in views from churches around the world having to figure out how to live stream their services due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
God is Great! Our church camera died about a year ago and we had to replace it. Then about the same time our leaders chose to get us a new computer too because the old one was at 96% cpu usage when we were recording. Sooo, now here we are somewhat more prepared to Live stream and the camera guy set us up with OBS....cpu now at 15-20% during recordings!!! God knew the corona virus was coming and prepared us for dealing with it more than a year ago!!! "I am with you always" :D We will look into the Cloud Media thing. Thank you!
I sent this video to an elder of a church that I attended before insomnia and arthritis in my lower back kept me from attended services because of pain and lack of sleep. I also have some renewable policy so it somewhere for me to get up and get ready and when I'm hurting [ which is constant] it's a no-go. Some people just can't attend church even though they want to. This method sounds wonderful.
fist bumps, hugging someone next to you, touching in prayer are all no no's (for now)....people are just gonna have to take my word for it when i tell them "So good to see you again"...as well as trust that its really me telling them this OVER THE PHONE!!!!
This is really great information! We've been streaming for some time using an Edirol V4 video switcher with 2 cameras and a feed from EasyWorship. (The EasyWorship feed is used both full-screen and picture in picture.) However, with that setup we're limited to SD and the 4:3 screen ratio. We'd like to step up to the 16:9 ratio and are looking at the Roland V-4EX, V-1HD, or V1-SDI, all of which would allow for HDMI inputs and give us the 16:9 output we desire. Previously we were streaming via Adobe's FMLE and now we're using OBS as an encoder only (not doing any switching, graphics, etc). We record the stream locally and after the service is over we trim the recording down to just the sermon to upload to Vimeo for archiving. Our stream goes to our streaming server which runs Wowza and simultaneously streams to our website as well as to Facebook Live. I'm curious about your thoughts regarding hardware switchers. Also curious about any experience you have with PTZ cameras.
Hey Nathan! Great questions. First I would definitely move to HD however you can. Hardware switchers can be good but somewhat limiting depending on what you want to do. The nice thing about software switching is that it opens up nearly limitless possibilities in terms of workflow and options in switching and streaming. Hardware can get out of date pretty quickly. I would build a vMix machine and do everything in the same box. You can even integrate PTZ cameras very easily with vMix. Check out the video I just did on the PTZOptics 20x camera. Hope that helps! ua-cam.com/video/V_IVbNox10U/v-deo.html
Have you tried SlingStudio? It can take up to 8 wireless sources -- which includes virtually any modern cell phone -- allow you to mix it on an iPad, and live-stream it to FB or YT. It has some issues that we've discovered, but nothing that (so far) can't be worked around. We have a 3 camera setup, streaming live, and it was pretty cheap considering. The SB Studio is the pricey part $1000. But after that it seems cheaper than using a PC and video switcher.
I have not personally tried SlingStudio. You can actually build a pretty good streaming PC for $1000! The PC takes the place of a switcher and has a large amount of functionality.
Great video for explaining the basics. I like the idea of piping the camera(s) directly into the encoder and bypassing a video switcher, but I wonder about then being able to get audio directly from a soundboard like we do now via XLR? I am in the process of totally revamping an aging system that's all analog. I was leaning toward a Blackmagic ATEM or ATEM mini along with at least one (for now) Panasonic V770 camera and a Blackmagic Web Presenter. I like your suggestion of using vMix, I currently use OBS Studio and will continue to research vMix as a replacement.
David Lippert Awesome, I would definitely move in the direction of doing a computer versus a black magic switcher. I’m actually releasing a video probably tonight or tomorrow on capturing video live in the computer. There are a lot of ways to get your audio into the streaming computer. If you have a digital mixer you can just connect it over USB or FireWire. There’s also a lot of cars that have Dante that pipes the audio to your computer over the network. Then there’s just a good old fashion two channel XLR USB audio interface. Interfaces are only about $100.
Thank you for the instruction. Forgive the silly question but here's what I'm thinking. We can livestream unto Facebook from a phone. How is that possible without a streaming program and a video capture card/device? How does a phone integrate or forgo the aforementioned items? I understand that phones are much more limited than cameras in many ways I'm just wondering about the video capture card/device and the streaming program. Why can't I simply connect my camera to my computer and livestream unto Facebook for example? Also, do we not need a computer interface device (ex: H.263 Pro Recorder) between the camera and the computer? Thank you
You really want to get a computer bring your sources from cameras into the computer so you can mix them and do everything you need inside the software. Trying to do it the other way will be more difficult and most likely frustrating.
Hey Brother. Thanks for the video. It was very helpful and insightful. We have been streaming for 3 weeks now off a HP laptop. We are using a gaming head set for my messages, but we need to record the music from ipads because of the poor quality of sound. If we purchase a R20 camera do and tri-pod, will I need to invest in a better mic? We were thinking about getting one of those RODE Wireless Go Versatile system.
Hey tks for you video, I have a question. I have the copyrights for the songs via CCLI (easyworship, song select (to project at church) do I need a special license to put the songs on the Facebook ? Bless you
I'm learning a lot from you on this. I'm more of a sound than video guy but through your tutorials I've been able to understand what it entails. God bless you
Yes. All of the fundamentals are the same. There are always newer cameras coming but it's in the close ballpark. Technology is always shifting but this is still the meat and potatoes of setting it up.
The same as listed in the description would probably be best. If you plan on getting something windows based you want windows 10, at least 8gigs of ram, he listed i7 which is best but might be able to get away with i5, ssd drive. I prefer Asus, they make good stuff, mid range zenbooks around $500 are probably going to work but a $700-$1000 ROG would work better. I am sure you are on a tight budget like most of us are but make sure you don't skimp too much or the live feed might have pauses in it when the computer maxes.
LOL!!! I had to laugh when you said, "you may be the only media volunteer and have ZERO knowledge on how to live stream." LOL!!! This man knows the range of resource equipping among churches! -- This video is really helping me! Thank you. --- I came from a high budget church with a media team member count, which surpasses many congregation active member counts. -- so I got to be part of that team and see what they do and whats possible. Now I'm part of a small (para-church) ministry .. under the umbrella of a mega church... and at our Friday Night outreaches (we do Sundays and Wednesdays at the mega church) it is usually ALL on me... to make things work, check microphones, change batteries, run video, sound, power points... I would not use the words "only volunteer" and "ZERO knowledge" to apply to our situation here... but it was close enough to make me LOL LOL LOL!! --- Oh, and of course, any thing that goes wrong... gets broadcast... or.. not broadcast... Thank you so much for this help.
Hey Seth! We'd love to change your mind about livestreaming from a Mac. Let us know if we can hook you up with a free copy of Ecamm Live so you can see the difference. Great video, btw.
Yes I did! I would suggest getting an external USB audio device. This Behringer audio interface has multiple inputs for microphones and other audio inputs. At very least, you can plug in the main L/R from the mixer directly into this box. It has much better audio quality than the onboard graphics card on your computer.
Hi @@TheDigitalPastor, Can I use a mixer (not sure what type of mixer our church has rn, I'll have to go find out) if capable to connect to the PC instead of buying a audio interface? Thanks, SU
I love your intro Digital Pastor!! Hilarious, 🤣 how about I give myself a fist bump;👊🏾 and No you didn’t bust brother Larry out! Lol 😂 this some funny stuff, um on the floor cracking up!! 🤣😂😁😅😂🤣
Pastor James Church- Hey great informative video. I'm using a DSLR Camera, a Black Magic Camera, a Black Magic switcher, Black Magici software on an old laptop, and a Terra Dek live streaming box.Two maim problems. One I 'm having a problem with audio quality. Just speaking is ok but when the musicians and singers start there is a lot of distortion and problems. Obviously I need to interface a quality audio feed from my sound board. Please advise the best way to do this. Also many of our watchers say that the feed does a lot of buffering. Does this mean I'm sending too high a video feed out?
Hey Pastor James, thanks! I have an audio video in the works but let me give you a couple pointers. 1. The volume difference between worship and speaking is going to be A LOT. Your worship is much louder than when the speaker is speaking. When the band is playing, your signal is too hot coming into your capture device. You need to back off the volume to start so there is no distortion. 2. How is your audio being processed? Is it a main feed from a mixer? This is why I like software switching like vMix. In vMix, you have the ability to use VST plugins. I use a broadcast plugin called MaxxVolume which is a great plugin to boost the quiet volumes without compressing the top side of the audio. 3. Depending on your setup I recommend setting an aux feed from your mixer as a post fader aux and setting all of the levels going to that aux bus at unity except the pastors mic. I would boost it up probably 5-10db. This will result is the pastor being about the same/similar level as the band and not have as much volume fluctuation.
You would want to save them to your local Hard Drive. Probably in an MP4 format. It will be much higher quality than an archive of the live stream. I would recommend at least 2mb if you can but you need more headroom to compensate for other internet traffic on your network. I would try to get at least 10-20mbs if you can.
Hey Tony! Looks really good doesn't it? I am super blown away by this camera. It's 1080p 60 frames per second which really helps with the clarity. The camera I am using is the: Sony HDR-CX900 a.co/biiKhDc I recently upgraded the camera to the 4K version of the camera. Its essentially the exact same camera with the same image sensor but it can record to 4K resolution. The 4K version of the camera is the: Sony FDR-AX100 a.co/iRxD19i
Awesome video, very helpful. Here is a question for you. Our church currently has a desktop computer running PowerPoint to a big screen during service. We also occasionally stream a UA-cam video from our Bishop or possibly a bible story from a DVD for the children's sermon. Would you recommend we have a separate computer to live stream? The current computer is an i5 2400 business computer we got for free. It doesn't have the capability to live stream but I wondered if we should buy a computer capable of doing everything or get a dedicated streaming machine.
Glad it helped! I always recommend if you can having a dedicated computer for streaming. Things can get complicated and inefficient when running both on the same machine.
Looking for info on capture card. Didn't see it. Need one that takes my canon m-50 and pipes the external microphone through camera and out to the computer with the hdmi video.
Do you have a desktop or a laptop? For a desktop computer you'd want an internal PCI-e card with HDMI input and if it's a laptop you can get a USB3 HDMI capture. Below are links to those products as well as a UA-cam video showing you how to make sure the HDMI feed from the camera is a clean feed. amzn.to/2vLGe5o (USB Capture) amzn.to/3bnE9vD (PCI-e Internal Card) ua-cam.com/video/CJ9HLexTg5I/v-deo.html
Hey TDP - I am the pastor of a 100% digital church "re-plant" with a UWYG! budget (Use/What/You've/Got) - which is still lower than the lowest prices you've mentioned. I've been using the Church Online Platform for Sim-Live Streaming. Have you heard of it and would VMix broadcast to that platform?
That's great brother. The Church Online Platform is just a web platform for playing back your stream, chatting, Bible, ect. You still need to provide your own video stream within the Church Online Platform. You would need to use a CDN.
I shoot a live classical music concert videos every Tuesday, from a church, at 12:30 with Sony 4K Handycam with 2-rode nt4 mixed by Zoom H6, inputted (mixed). Now I want to stream out to hospitals etc.; simply using UA-cam. Sony video outputs via HDMI cable to a dedicated laptop with the blackmagic intensity pro 4K capture card? A clean slide presentation before and after the live 45 minute streaming. Could you fill in the blanks?
Yeah, you would output from the camera into a capture card like that one you mentioned and bring it into vMix and then import your PowerPoint into vMix or capture it from the computer running the presentation and then simply stream to UA-cam directly from vMix as you mix all your sources together. You can use your H6 via USB as an audio interface and bring that audio right in vMix
Watched your video. Our church has a youtube channel where we prerecord our pastor speaker. We now want to livestream the pastor along with the music. We have CCLI copyright license and also the license for perform of music outside of the normal worship time. CCLI offers the streaming license. I didn't hear you mention that it is required for churches to obtain a streaming license if they want to broadcast their worship music. Once we obtain a streaming license do you know if we provide to youtube so they do not remove the video from our channel after recording and storing on our channel?
You do need a streaming license from CCLI. I'm not totally clear what the status quo is with UA-cam but I know that your content still may be recognized as copywritten material and be monetized. Our UA-cam channel for church has been streaming worship (with backing tracks many times) for quite a while and we haven't had much issue. I think we've just had our videos been monetized. This is one the perks of streaming to a CDN like ours. We don't monitor any content and rely on users to have the appropriate licenses. Here is a link from a friend of mine on the CCLI issue. live.ptzoptics.com/live-streaming/christian-music-licensing/
Recommendation for starter we used OBS for video switching and live streaming at" Zero" cost .1 black magic atem television studio HD cost around 1050 $ our camera at center the Sony PXW-X70 Professional XDCAM (2000$) Compact with SDI at the center and 2 hdmi old camera we have salvage to connect to the switcher(can use black magic mini converter to convert to sdi if distance matters from the switch) .China made "all to SDI@ aliexpress.com "for overlay presentation laptop or additional camera with vga composite hdmi to solve distance issue from the switcher. Our computer is with black magic intensity pro 4k for recording and livestream to OBS
I have a canon xl2 camera with a tripod, a mini converter (Sdi to hdmi), a hp envy 34-a051 computer. I'm looking to use vmix. Do I still need a video capture device? If so, what do you recommend. Thanks.
I've never tried the XL2 but it might work with the Firewire port which I believe that camera has. You would still need a capture device if not. Is there a reason you don't buy a lower end HD camera? Even though the XL2 was a very good camera in it's day, you could potentially get much higher resolution and quality with a lower end HD camera that's newer. Check you have the right converter because I believe that BNC output from that camera is Analog and not Digital.
Thanks so much for your videos. Awesome explanations of complicated subject. Looks like Cloud Media Group page is down? Do you still have a CDN service?
Try out the webcaster x2 from epiphan, but if you're not aching for cash then the TriCaster Mini HD or full-size TriCaster 4K UHD is the way to go. Those are self-contained capture PCs used chiefly by broadcasters. You might also like the game oriented capture, input / output switching, and streaming devices from elgato. With the release of AMD's Ryzen now in its 3rd generation you can get a single AMD Ryzen PC to capture, game, and stream all at the same time! For about $500-$600. Go look for "Best AMD CPU Streaming and Gaming" on UA-cam for the most relevant search results.
This sort of setup described in the video would be for larger gatherings and events. As we are currently on lockdown in a lot of places due to Covid 19 you can get away with using a laptop with its built-in camera. The picture quality is obviously not going to be the same but for some sitting giving a teaching with not much moving around this would be easier to setup
The setup described is not actually for a larger gathering. We have that type of setup in our church of about 50 people. You can get away with a laptop for sure. If thats all you have and a limited budget, you could get a higher quality webcam for something very simple.
I need to ask a complicated question about our church set-up. They have 2 mics for the readers, and another mic, which is supposed to pick-up both the soloist and a clavinova piano. these run into a 'Red Back' amplifier via xlr inputs (I believe this is a type of Public Address system) They were told that all they had to do was plug the audio cord (3.5mm jack) from the amp to the MacBook and they could stream audio via ZOOM. Of course it doesn't work, because ZOOM is totally overloaded with information and never relays the piano and singer. I know their setup is totally wrong, but I have never used live streaming. So, how can I best advise the church what to do, with what they have, and what else they should purchase??? Remember this is ONLY audio! Many thanks advance
What is the model of the amplifier? If the signal coming from the Red Back amp is the correctly mixed signal there shouldn't be a reason you can't bring it into your laptop. Something else might be the issue.
I’m a worship pastor and don’t have the volunteers with the technical ability to do live-streaming, so I’m researching and giving it a go. One question I have is how can I ensure the sound mix from the soundboard is captured in the video instead of what is heard through the main speakers?
The good news is that training volunteers with a software like vMix is not super difficult! Great job getting the ball rolling, keep going! The best way to do this is when you bring your HDMI feed from your camera in, be sure to not use the audio from the camera. Then you will take a feed from your mixer and bring it into some sort of audio capture device like a USB capture device. What mixer do you currently have?
Digital Pastor, what video capture device do you recommend? I will be shooting on Sony A7RII and A6400. Our set up is practically nothing right now besides those cameras mentioned and a MacBook Pro (16G RAM).
If you only have a Mac at this point, I would suggest the Magewell USB. Here is the HDMI 1080 version amzn.to/341Mvqp If you are looking to do 4K HDMI, you can use this one amzn.to/2ybWcGF
I am a real beginner with this stuff. I bought the Canon HF R20 are you suggested and it does connect to my computer for live streaming. I also got the vMix which seems like a great software. I learned it quickly but cannot get the camera to work. Any thoughts I could try?
Hi @@TheDigitalPastor, So here's what I have down for starters. How does it look? Camera - Panasonic HC-V770 Low quality - Mountdog Camera Tripod 70" PC - Not too sure (any specific recommendation that's inexpesive?) Software - Vmix Basic HD (is this worth it for starters?) Audio- Behringer audio interface (or mixer) Streaming- UA-cam &/or Facebook (it's free) Total rn is
Thoughts on using a GoPro Hero 7 using the Facebook Live features on the smartphone app? Seems to be the easiest and most convenient way to get started. And Wifi speed in the church would also be a big factor as well, correct?
Hello Im church member from AV Team and for last few weeks im looking for way to stream our sermon but I stuck on the place where I have to find stream along device! I have portable computer laptop pc did I have chance to us my computer or I have to use other kind of PC? Please help me to find right way I already have camera Panasonic HC-VXF1 and tripod and from few mounts I make recording but never have the chance to dream to make streaming! Now I sow many other people they doing and I thinking to do this for our Greatest Almighty God! Please give me some idea what to do? Thank you very much for your attention!
If you already have a computer, you would want to get an HDMI capture device which would be an internal card or USB device. We're working on a video addressing video capture specifically. Stay tuned!
Hey pastor, We have just purchased a JVC gy-hm250e camera with live streaming capability built in. Easy enough to livestream directly to UA-cam as it has built in network connection as well as XLR inputs to receive audio from our mixing desk. What would we need to do to overlay PowerPoint to our live stream video? Do we need to start streaming via a computer (to deal with multiple inputs) with software like OBS? Thanks in advance for your helps🙏🏽
Without looking in depth at the camera, your best bet might be to bring that video feed into a computer and mix your sources via vMix. This will give to a crazy amount of flexibility with what you want to do with your PowerPoint and various sources.
I have purchased the Sony FDR-AX100 but have troubles with choosing a compatible video capture device. I have tried with Elgato Cam Link and Gofanco HDMI Capture Device and none of them worked. I'm unable to use an internal capture card and I have a limited budget. Do you have any recommendations on how to choose an affordable compatible video capture device, and probably how to set the camera up?
What software are you using to bring the camera in? Did you install the drivers? Also make sure the HDMI resolution in the settings of the camera are set to 1080p and not Auto
@@TheDigitalPastor I currently don't have any software to bring the camera in. I just connected the camera to the Cam link and had my vMix running. What software would you recommend, please?
William Adu-Mensah So vMix would be your software to bring the camera in. Did you install the drivers for the device? Here’s a guide to do this www.vmix.com/knowledgebase/article.aspx/136/setting-up-elgato-capture-devices-with-vmix
Hi. I'm very interested in this. I have the Canon Vixia hf r700, but was looking at the Canon Vixia hf r82, which claims to make live streaming extremely easy to share with online services. I know it is Wi-Fi enabled and has a Canon Camera Connect app1 that says "Use the Camera Connect app1 with your compatible smart device to record remotely, and share your movies online right away for your friends and family to enjoy." Would this be easier to use for this purpose? Thank you! Your video was wonderful.
So I’m an amateur film maker. I’ve been doing private car videos for clients for a bit now and recently the Christian Youth orangization which im a part of that is run and organized entirely by Youth has asked me to live stream the worship night we’re having. The only thing is that I’ve never live-streamed and all I have is a Windows PC laptop, a Canon DSLR, a Røde microphone, and a tripod. Do I absolutely have to run the feed through a livestream software or can I just run an HDMI to my laptop and then directly to UA-cam Live?
You need a capture device to get the HDMI into the computer at very least. You can always stream directly to UA-cam with a single camera. You wouldn't have you record the high quality feed however. If you're just wanting to start, going straight to UA-cam is always an option!
Hey there, my church, for now, just wants to send a video/audio feed to another room in the church. What is the most efficient/cost effective solution you would suggest for that? Thinking about implementing the full solution you talked about as well to be able to stream in the future. Thanks!
ok...this video is pretty good with the exceptions.. you didn't explain how the Audio from mics, guitars, drums, keys get into the stream...where the camera is not using built in mic, or is your camera using the built in mic? I would assume the cameras would be using external mics...
In my video I am using an external Yeti mic but I recommend connecting your audio mixer to your streaming computer via a USB interface. I'm working on a video on audio capture now! Coming soon!
thank you very much. Caronavirus has brought me here. My dad who has pastored the same congregation for the past 70 years is now being told by order of the City that for the 1st time in 70 years he will need to NOT open his doors for Worship Service effective this Sunday! I have a Sony Exmor R HDAVCHD HDR-CX150 with HDMI connections. Will this Handycam work? iAUTO 16GB Full HD1080? I think those are all the letters I see on here. lol! I can get the tripod in the morning at Walmart....yes I am trying to have this up and running for SUNDAY! My PC is an HP Spectre Bang & Olufsen. Should it be sufficient to handle the duties required by the PC? I want to purchase/download vmix basic hd live production. Can I produce a good llve stream with this equipment? if not, what would need to change, in your opinion. HELP!!!
I'm sorry to hear that. These are challenging but good times for the church. That camera should work. What are the exact specs of the laptop? You'll need to get a capture card to get the HDMI video into the computer. Do you have a USB3 port on the laptop?
Ok I know it's been a while since you made this video and hopefully you still answer to it. I am trying to get a decent camcorder to do our church with I am looking at these 2 from best buy will either of these be ok to use. Sony - Handycam CX405 or Canon - VIXIA HF R800. Also how would I get the mic sound we are looking at the cheap route I know I will be using OBS on a windows 10 laptop for starters. I am figuring the mic could be brought in to the pc and then tap it in to OBS. One other thing do you know if OBS will let us record a copy of it to the PC while streaming. I am looking at doing a low quality stream out because of the poor wifi we have then hopefully recording a good copy to upload later. Thanks for all the info you have provided in this video.
How much of a budget do you have? Either of those would work. For the sound, you would want to use a USB audio interface. The interface would bring the soundboard's signal into the computer. If you can swing it in the budget I would highly recommend getting vMix. If you can handle only 4 inputs to start with, the base HD version of vMix is only $59 I believe. You will be much happier with vMix I promise :)
You mentioned that UA-cam will pull a video if there is copyrighted material such as music in the background. What about if you have the license? How do you notify or show proof to UA-cam?
It depends on what you have on the video. If its copywritten music that is covered by CCLI, typically UA-cam will see that the music is in there and then will monetize your video with an ad before the video.
Hi. So the church i'm working with has just the video camera set up and hit record. Nothing else really and the resources on how to add our watermark, graphics, and other stuff to add are really foreign to me in that I wouldn't know where to look. What can I research and possibly invest for our small church, especially in light of all this corona virus frenzy going on?
K. Penn. what I recommend is typing “how to add a graphic” with whatever streaming software you’re using. OBS is free, and there’s a lot of video tutorials that can show you how to add stuff on your video.
I would definitely reccommend using vMix as a streaming software. It does almost EVERYTHING! Switching camera, audio, title editor, virtual sets, recording, ISO recording and its a Christian company too! Download the trial for free on their website! They have fantastic tutorial videos. www.vMix.com
Great advice, behold! I have great questions. If we were broadcasting on yt and singing a hymn like ' How Great Thou Art' is that a copyright no no ? Also, using not YT or FB sounds wonderful, but how does an unknown person find an unknown livestream via an unknown provideŕ? Thanks man.
I am in the process of looking into live streaming our services. Did I mention I was new at this? Anyways a quick question: I like your choice of camera, capture software and PC suggestion, my question is how good is the Magewell USB device and what model would you suggest?
I am a church member who does not work on the media department but I am running a performing arts showcase and want to go live with it on Facebook. I have a brand new audio interface that I'm plugging into the mixing board so that people at home can hear the house mix and I have a cannon xf 100 that I am using as a web cam to capture the visuals. I guess from watching this video that the missing link is streaming software. Is there a free streaming software that would do the job. Time is short therefore money is an issue. I need to make sure I can go live to Facebook by 9pm today! That's 19 hours.
My question is....can i stream thru youtube live with out software or do i have to have software no matter what? The reason im asking is because im new at this and i wanna do youtube live so i dont just limit ourselves to just Facebook for some ppl dont have fb. If u can pls point me in the right direction for youtube live stream thanks.
Thank you for your post the information is a great help. Can you please post links to the camera and the tripod. is it possible to do this from a laptop. I was hoping I could go from the camera out to the usb 3.1 input?
You bet! Yes it is possible to do from a laptop. You would go from the camera to a device like the USB capture device below. USB Capture (4k) / amzn.to/2QGqfg2 USB Capture (1080p) amzn.to/2WIa0D4 Sony FDR-AX100 (4k) / amzn.to/2lSgQST Camera Tripod / amzn.to/2KK8vvd
Great info! Can you only LIVE stream from a camera? My church currently uses an iPhone to live stream and we were looking for a way to stream from Facebook and UA-cam at the same time
Shataka Payne thanks! I can’t think of a way offhand to stream from a phone to UA-cam and Facebook at the same time without additional hardware setup. Do you have the ability to get a camera?
Same question I have .......a lot of chatter but no mention of the video capture device...We're interested in a small/medium budget for a church. We're not trying to achieve 4K video or surround sound. Basic clear sharp video and hi-fi sound.
We are working on a video currently for capture devices. It's part of a 4 part series on setting up live stream. You can check out that video at this link. ua-cam.com/video/0ezWZKBDerc/v-deo.html I would highly recommend the FDR-AX100 for the camera. It's very clear and sharp. It's the camera I used in the video. Hope that helps!
Thank you for the video. Our church just started doing Live Streaming (thank you Corona Virus!) and I'm wondering, we have been doing the full service, but I would like to add the lyrics to the video so users at home can follow along. Right now it's just a video with the pastor speaking his part and then the music (played from our sound system that is not connected to the camera) is picked up from the camera microphone. We do have licenses to use the songs as projections and to use the "music" - so are our videos going to be removed for using them though? If not, can I use the PowerPoint that we are currently using to project for members at the physical address? I've been struggling to find anything about this!
Brittany Larson where are you live-streaming to? You probably won’t have them removed but may have them monitized with ads afterward. You could use PowerPoint for sure. If you used a green background on PowerPoint, you could have vMix remove the green and overlay the lyrics on the video!
@@TheDigitalPastor thank you. We started a UA-cam channel. I'm not sure if our pastor has a specific software or if he's just simply using the live stream service that you tube offers.
Thanks you Mark. I am currently working on a 4 part series on setting up your live stream. The first video I released yesterday. The link is below. The general information and foundation is the same. There are some additional technologies for specific uses that have come out since then but the foundation of the capture and broadcasting is the same.
Good morning, I have been watching your vedio, Am a Pastor of about 150 congregation. We want to set up a Livestream. We want extremely clear and sharp livestream of international standard. I want you to guide and mentor us to get it done . Thanks
I'm not saying you can't stream on your Macbook but it depends on what you are trying to do. If you are just looking to stream quickly with a single camera perhaps you can make it happen. If you want to expand or do higher resolutions or scale the production, the Macbook won't be sufficient. What exactly are you trying to stream? Number of cameras, resolution, overlays, recording etc?
@@TheDigitalPastor I am looking to stream my church service this sunday, which will be a single camera. I understand that I can't use youtube because of the copyright issue with the praise and worship music.
Hi Seth, I am with a church trying to livestream to UA-cam. We have a Canon Vixia HF R80 with an encoder. We are using a Mac with the program OBS. The video and audio are out of sync when you go back and watch the streams, as well as poor visual quality. Do you have any adjustments or suggestions?
How out of sync are they? You might have to do an audio or video delay to get them matched up. Is the quality poor on the stream or in the file you record to your computer during the stream?
This video was great very informative. I am one of those media volunteers with limited knowledge like you mentioned in your video. A door has been opened to us and my pastors sermon will be broadcasted to a local channel. I have a 2 part question 1. can we record with vmix at the same time that we are live streaming? 2. We are using a dslr camera do you have any suggestions that were not in this video that can be applied?
What about using the camera we all have in our pockets... our phones. I how can I use my iPhone X, gimbal and tripod? I’m over the live feeds at my church, how can I make it better?
If you wanted to do a single camera without any other hardware, you could always just stream from your phone. I would get some dedicated video cameras and get a computer and use vMix!
Hey man, great video. What would you say is your answer when it comes to the audio part of live streaming? Straight from the board or the camera? What wires, gears would you use?
Thanks! You definitely want a feed from your mixer. If you have a digital mixer, use the USB or digital output from the board. This cuts down on the conversion from analog to digital. If its an analog board, you would want to get an audio interface with dual XLR's if possible. If you use vMix you can use VST plugins to get some great mastering plugins to tighten up your mix!

Yep. first live yesterday. an iphone, tripod, and 3 rubber bands did it for us. :)
I’ve used Vmix for 4-5 years.. think from version 17 to 23 and I’m enjoying it!
I’m here working with our church team to start live streaming our services. We have closed temporarily due to COVID-19. The information you have shared will help us get connected. Thank you!
You're welcome! Glad I could help Nick.
You're welcome 👍
Thanks for sharing, very insightful. Just got our live stream working this week via Facebook for our pastor as gatherings of more than 50 people are not allowed due to COVID-19.
You're welcome! I assume that a lot of churches are trying to get live streaming up and going this week. We need this more than ever.
Great video for beginners. The three year old camera used for the video is now down to $700 used on Amazon. It's a joy to see a young man like you have poise and command in front of the camera. You are greatly blessed and I hope you prosper and share your enthusiasm and vigor in many venues.
Thanks for the compliment Holly, I appreciate it. 🙏Yes that camera is much more inexpensive!
Excellent summary! Well done! May God bless your ministry, especially in these days.
Thank you Diane! I appreciate it, bless you sis.
For all of you interested in the camera I used on this video, you can find it here!

Ummmmm....yeah. It's spiking a lot! Glad we're able to help churches through this season.

That’s what brought me here!
"I am with you always" :D
We will look into the Cloud Media thing. Thank you!
Thanks Emmanuel! Sounds good.
Have you looking into using vMix instead of OBS?
Praise God... Good to see a believers tech channel
Amen brother!
I'm glad to hear that connecting with the church has been made available for you Joseph! Lord be with you and heal your insomnia
@@TheDigitalPastor So far my pastor hasn't. Nor has he returned my phone call. I sent him your video. Thanks though.

Thank you, Pastor, for responding. I will take a look at this info, and keep you posted on my success! Love you, bro!
You're welcome by friend! Love you too!
Bless you
You're welcome!
There is a special license for streaming your worship online. I would recommend contacting CCLI for more information about that.
I'm learning a lot from you on this. I'm more of a sound than video guy but through your tutorials I've been able to understand what it entails. God bless you
Hi - would love to know if the equipment recommendations are still current in 2020.
Yes. The recommendations are still current. The names/brands may change, but this is a great basic video.
Lucas Cornwell yep
@@LucasCornwellPhoto Thanks Lucas!
Yes. All of the fundamentals are the same. There are always newer cameras coming but it's in the close ballpark. Technology is always shifting but this is still the meat and potatoes of setting it up.
What type of laptop would you recommend for streaming equipment rather than a PC? We are a mobile church.

Hahaha. Glad you liked it! Keep on going. Build it up!

Hey body, You forgot the audio specifications. The half of the quality video is a good quality audio.
Yes I did!
I would suggest getting an external USB audio device. This Behringer audio interface has multiple inputs for microphones and other audio inputs. At very least, you can plug in the main L/R from the mixer directly into this box. It has much better audio quality than the onboard graphics card on your computer.
Hi @@TheDigitalPastor,

How are you streaming to the internet? What is your upload and download speed?
Awsome video!! Where to save my livestreams, on cloud or HDD. What internet speed will be the best for livestreaming??
You would want to save them to your local Hard Drive. Probably in an MP4 format. It will be much higher quality than an archive of the live stream. I would recommend at least 2mb if you can but you need more headroom to compensate for other internet traffic on your network. I would try to get at least 10-20mbs if you can.
Finally! Someone speaking English! Thank you for enlighting me
Aitua Ogiamien you’re welcome! Glad I could help

Ya, was wondering what capture cards?
Do you have a desktop or a laptop? For a desktop computer you'd want an internal PCI-e card with HDMI input and if it's a laptop you can get a USB3 HDMI capture. Below are links to those products as well as a UA-cam video showing you how to make sure the HDMI feed from the camera is a clean feed.

This could increased access for the home/hospital bound.
Absolutely. There is a large group of people that this could reach. Those who are sick at home, hospital bound or overseas can watch via livestream.
Hey pastor ,
What kind of video capturing device ,you suggest??
What kind of video connector are you using? I like Magewell as a brand.

Building your own PC like you mentioned is definitely the way to go!

Great video and resources! thanks!
Thanks Unity, glad I could help you out!

If you already have a computer, you would want to get an HDMI capture device which would be an internal card or USB device. We're working on a video addressing video capture specifically. Stay tuned!
Hey pastor,
We have just purchased a JVC gy-hm250e camera with live streaming capability built in.
Do you have an updated version of this info? I’m currently using Streamlab OBS.
I wanna do help a friend with streaming of their upcoming events.
Thank's... and Good bless you...
You're welcome! Bless you
I have purchased the Sony FDR-AX100 but have troubles with choosing a compatible video capture device.
Here’s a guide to do this

@@TheDigitalPastor This is very helpful. I'm becoming more confident with streaming now. Thank you for the help!
Hi. I'm very interested in this. I have the Canon Vixia hf r700, but was looking at the Canon Vixia hf r82, which claims to make live streaming extremely easy to share with online services. I know it is Wi-Fi enabled and has a Canon Camera Connect app1 that says "Use the Camera Connect app1 with your compatible smart device to record remotely, and share your movies online right away for your friends and family to enjoy."
Would this be easier to use for this purpose?
Thank you! Your video was wonderful.
Thanks for the comment!
I would try to stay away from anything wireless as far as video signal if you can :)
Thanks!
Take the video feed directly from the camera and run a cable run to that room. If its a long distance, you can use an extender over Cat5/Cat6
Thanks for the video I took good notes . can you talk about the sound aspect of streaming? How to capture audio , good audio.
ok...this video is pretty good with the exceptions.. you didn't explain how the Audio from mics, guitars, drums, keys get into the stream...where the camera is not using built in mic, or is your camera using the built in mic?

I would get this one!

Lol! How you started this video 😃🤩Amazing!!!!
Lol thanks. It's super cheesy but I have pastors that make that comment sometimes that people won't come to church.
The Digital Pastor There’s an appointed audience for your gift, your personality and your content🙏
Thanks man. Very helpful. Love your backdrop. Do you have a tutorial on How to make a cool backdrop? If not, please do one.
Thanks! I grabbed the backdrop off of Google images lol
Did you get it figured out?
My question is....can i stream thru youtube live with out software or do i have to have software no matter what? The reason im asking is because im new at this and i wanna do youtube live so i dont just limit ourselves to just Facebook for some ppl dont have fb. If u can pls point me in the right direction for youtube live stream thanks.
Yes you can stream directly to UA-cam from your capture card. It really limits what you can do but it will work.
USB Capture (4k) / amzn.to/2QGqfg2
USB Capture (1080p) amzn.to/2WIa0D4
Sony FDR-AX100 (4k) / amzn.to/2lSgQST
Camera Tripod / amzn.to/2KK8vvd
NEW subscriber!
Thanks for what you do!!👍💥🎶
Thanks for the sub! You're welcome!
The Corona Virus brought me here. My church needs live stream asap
What do you currently have for your setup? What equipment do you have?
very new & this is helpful. Camera option we have is a Nikon Coolpix P510. Would this work? would be no cost option.
You can check out that video at this link.
ua-cam.com/video/0ezWZKBDerc/v-deo.html
I would highly recommend the FDR-AX100 for the camera. It's very clear and sharp. It's the camera I used in the video. Hope that helps!
Thanks so much ! We are trying to get started.
Do it!
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. Could you do an updated version for 2020? What has changed in the live streaming technology landscape since 2017?
Thanks you Mark. I am currently working on a 4 part series on setting up your live stream. The first video I released yesterday. The link is below. The general information and foundation is the same. There are some additional technologies for specific uses that have come out since then but the foundation of the capture and broadcasting is the same.
Good morning, I have been watching your vedio, Am a Pastor of about 150 congregation.
We want to set up a Livestream.
We want extremely clear and sharp livestream of international standard.
I want you to guide and mentor us to get it done .
Thanks
If you use the camera I suggested in the video (HDR-CX900 or FDR-AX100) and get a decent capture card, you video should look great!
Hi Digital Pastor, found your video very helpful, can you explain why I should not live stream on a Macbook please?
I'm not saying you can't stream on your Macbook but it depends on what you are trying to do. If you are just looking to stream quickly with a single camera perhaps you can make it happen. If you want to expand or do higher resolutions or scale the production, the Macbook won't be sufficient. What exactly are you trying to stream? Number of cameras, resolution, overlays, recording etc?
@@TheDigitalPastor I am looking to stream my church service this sunday, which will be a single camera. I understand that I can't use youtube because of the copyright issue with the praise and worship music.
@@creativebusinessvideos5038 Great! Send me an email and we'll get you setup. Seth@thecloudmediagroup.com
The Digital Pastor, with some tinkering We were able to sync the audio and video, but yes, the quality is rather poor on the stream.
This video was great very informative. I am one of those media volunteers with limited knowledge like you mentioned in your video. A door has been opened to us and my pastors sermon will be broadcasted to a local channel.
I have a 2 part question
1. can we record with vmix at the same time that we are live streaming?
2. We are using a dslr camera do you have any suggestions that were not in this video that can be applied?
We are using MAC computers
1. Yes you can! You need a PC computer though. Did you get it figured out?
2. DSLR cameras do work :)
What about using the camera we all have in our pockets... our phones. I how can I use my iPhone X, gimbal and tripod? I’m over the live feeds at my church, how can I make it better?
If you wanted to do a single camera without any other hardware, you could always just stream from your phone. I would get some dedicated video cameras and get a computer and use vMix!
wonderful info, we want to purchase a very good camera...but we don't have so much money..we have under $500
Hey man, great video.
