don't blame me for your food choices... I didn't even want it.
I didn’t intend to offend you by means of noodle. Not enough tentacles in it I guess
Cheers @midwinterminis & @52miniatures for the great shout out ! Was a blast going to GD, and great to be able to show off Guilliman. But yeah it would be rad if there was a prize for Kitbashing 😂
Hope we get to meet one day!
@@52Miniatures you too!
Alex, you were the most gracious, intelligent, and charming guest I could have hoped for! Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
It was a delight, thank you Guy. And yes. We shall have to create possibilities to hang out.
You two forming some kind of Hobby Avengers that ends up bringing Luke from Geek Gaming Scenics back into the fold would be well worth documenting.
Guy who paints minis - I want that in my life.
I'm here right after listening to part 1 which was really enjoyable. Thanks for the sneak preview!!
Great to hear! Thanks Erik
Are you two talking yourselves into setting up your own painting competition? 🙂
Alex, I will confess I chose to watch Part 2 of this podcast first. I'll tackle Part 1 later today. All of Guy's comments about the feelings your videos bring out are spot on. I want to reassure you that your videos are not elitist or eccentric. I am nowhere near your league (and never will be) as a painter, but I am certain that I have improved a fair amount because of you, and I don't think you present overly complex solutions--they are doable. By the way, I was blown away by the close ups of your poor dwarf walking the gang plank on Instagram (check that out folks!) and I muttered... oh jeez, I have so far to go, so far...but that's okay. I would love your channel if I never painted a single mini, for the stories you tell alone. Fortunately, I get to try out many of the wonderful techniques you present--and I always enjoy the journey. In closing, I'm glad you had such a delightful trip to the UK. My (sort of) apology for this ramble. All the best!
+1!! I don’t paint yet but I like how Alex’s personality comes out so spontaneously from his videos. I feel sometimes the less he tries the better they come. Like… that montage of the vlog from Canada in black and white. That was GORGEOUS to watch. Cheers to you Alex, don’t ever put yourself in a cul-de-sac, feel free to do whatever in your videos , and may your muse always sing to you! ^^
Thank you dearly Mark, I very much appreciate it. You know, stuck in the bunker it's not always easy to know how things are perceived. A great reason to do trips like these I guess, meeting up with people in the flesh.
Thank you greatly Simon!
Funny, the bookreviews are some of my favourite from 52miniatures. More good reading tips!
I watch 52 miniatures specifically for the calm atmosphere. Perfect during work, perfect to relax, perfect while hobbying.
I enjoyed that, a pleasant amble indeed. I reckon more wouldn't be a bad idea!
Great collaboration Alex! My two favorite channels, together at last 😉 Great stuff! Thanks for sharing Alex
Thanks man! I'm glad we could spend some time together. Awesome stuff.
Love it, please more of this.
But I must admit that I am a little dissapointed that you don't call it: 52 Minutes of Midwinter Miniatures xD
Great to see that Rascal Town goblin make a cameo in the video!
Goblins for the win
Oh it would be interesting hearing Penny the former co-host of the Midwinter channel aswell!
These two videos have been excellent. Colabs are hard, doubtless, but glad this particular one worked out, love both your channels and styles and am thankful you two released these. Encore if/when possible please. Also love the MS_Paints shout-out. Nice Trifecta, kinda.
Thanks Travis, I’m glad we got to do this :)
Lovelly hearing you guys chatting! :)
Thanks Sq!
Another great watch i enjoyed 😊
Alex you got to add a nice logo to your wall, some times it looks like you haven’t paid the bills sitting in the dark with all you warmers gear on and a cup of coffee!!
Looking forward to Hatty's part 3 about the Disney convention
really enjoyable dynamic between you two. next podcast when? 😄
maybe there is a market for dividing painting competitions into more subsections like pro/amateur/young bloods etc. i'm always amazed by the artistry of golden demon entries but i'd also love to see something like the grim dark style receive some well deserved recognition - since its the grim dark future after all (in 40k's case at least)
Here from Midwinter's channel, so glad you collaborated and could find you :)
Welcome! And thanks for checking in
I totally agree with Guy regarding your videos.
Your videos might not be the essential beginner step by step tutorials or clickbaity "I will paint a 2000 points army in 2 hours" kind, but they are high quality, and the most important thing to me, inspiring. They are a piece of art in itself - including all the parts like light, narration, humor... your style in general is different to all of the other youtubers I know. That might not be something for everyone, but it sure is for me 😊 (and a lot of other people).
Every time I watch one of your videos, I want to show it to some friends or family and discuss it... I have the urge to paint... and I have to tie my fingers together not to dump a whole wall of text in your direction to tell you about everything I thought while watching 😂
And thanks for the wonderful podcast. It was nice seeing you smile a lot (I hope that doesn't sound creepy o.O) and to hear a little bit more about your time in the UK and the things you did before youtube and stuff.
Great comments. 👍👍
Thank you Bea. I smiled a lot during that trip :) And thank you for a very positive comment. I truly appreciate it.
What Guy says at 58:40 is so true imho. Yes the works of the big competition artists are wonderful, don't get me wrong, but I would love to see a categorie that rewards "out of the box creativity" ( for lack of a better phrase). Again, wonderful listening to you guys!
Thanks W!
Wonderful conversation, would happily listen to you both regularly for hours! Hopefully technology can facilitate overcoming the geographical challenges of making that a reality 😃
Despite also being from the UK I didn't know MidwinterMinis, but the chap is wearing an Arturia hoodie so I'm obviously going to have to subscribe now.
Haha, thanks. I used to work for them! We talk about that in this episode :)
Haha, well that probably means I sponsored a small portion of this video in a very roundabout way 😅 anyway, I decided to do as Alex told me and watch part 1 first so brb 🫡
Hah! Arturia will make you do that
I love this collaboration and I hope it happens again. I don't know if Guy saying he was going to go to Sweden is true, but it would be awesome if it was, and you did another podcast then.
I got back into miniatures after 30 years after 2 years building gundam, I've always enjoyed building planes and cars Via the airfix starter sets , I've been back into miniature painting for the past year and now, I'm still building my bench and build area and running out of space fast 😂 keep up the good work
Great podcast
Thanks Adam!
Great podcast to the both of you!😉
Thank you Mr cheez!
In an alternate universe Guy is on a Wheaties box...
I was also a photographer before the pandemic. And I too got bored not having any work, so I started making dice. Now that's my full-time job. Only do the occasional photography job now.
Making dice sounds cool! I’m looking for someone to make dice for me 👋
You should look into Monte San Savino show, Scale model challenge and World Model Expo! They are basically the type of competition you are looking for.
Yes, I know about it. Thanks!
"Midwinter Minis - The name means nothing and the logo has a mistake in it."
... Sounds professional, imma go watch that Guy's videos. ^^
Hah!
Crystal brush had 10.000 dollars in first price, but that is not longer a thing so i dont think its anyone that give out cash as a price anymore
Creature Casters Resin Beast contest had cash prizes for 1-2-3 in each category and best of show. Also wanted to say, I am a avid fan of Both of these guys. They have different styles and focuses, but are equally excellent. Keep up the great work guys.
Thanks for sharing!
You should call this colab Cold 26 miniatures.
I agree about GW 'house' style. I'm kind of over the whole 'Eavy Metal look. It's one of the reasons I'm such a big 52 minis fan!
A great compliment :)
resin Beast from creature caster has a cash prize
You guys would love SMC iin Holland.. great competition catering for all levels and they really value creativity... also its miniature agnostic (October I think)
Thanks for the tip man
Oh, hell yeah 👉🍿!
yeah! 👍
Cool 👍
Whats the many dislikes about? Bit odd to see on a little podcast video
Apparently two guys chatting about the hobby can be a big disappointment :) No but seriously, there can be lots of reasons. One is it is not the type of content that is expected and so folk don’t like it. Another I guess is that some find it boring. Lastly, because Guy is a relatively large presence on UA-cam that also comes with more opinionated people. He has way more trolls and stuff like that than I do.
@@52Miniatures Just one of those days I guess :) Had fun listening and painting regardless, thanks for doing what you do!
I think it might be from midwinter guy cheating on and ditching his fiance and his 2 young children some time ago for his youtube co-host.
if you and Guy do a hobby podcast..let me know please !
58:00 If you want to showcase army-painting as a skill, other than making people submit armies, a speed painting competition is the way to go. Except instead of 1 hour per mini with crappy brushes and random colours to make it a goofy spectacle, let people bring their model, their equipment. No one disturbs them, but people can watch before a barrier. Show us what you can do and the only limitation is the time frame.
Lovely video and chat. what nice lads. justice for the butthole tank
Thanks Jamie!
**waves** Holaaaa!
Hombre! Buena Vista Miniature Club!
Freakwars madrid has a cash prize :)
Ah! There you go :)
😂 I've been on the cable 🚡 car , it's a bit rocky I'm not the best with heights but it is a convenient way to cross the river
