- Making spawning mops for killifish and corydoras. Quick and easy.
This video shows the quick and easy way to make spawning mops for killifish and corydoras. For many of the killifish this is the first item to add to the breeding tank. The mops are made of knitting yarn and take less than 2 minutes to make. Add a cork and the mop floats up and down. No cork and it makes a nice breeding spot on the bottom of the tank. Great DIY fish keeping project. These spawning mops will last for years and do not rot or pollute the aquarium. Even if not spawning these make a great hiding place for fish that need one.
Seems simple enough but a couple nice tips slid in there. Thanks.
Very easy process. Almost too easy. People will make it harder for some reason.
@@djrramsey I remember asking my photography friends 35 years ago for their used film canisters to use as floats :)
@@SupremeGecko We used the floats for spawning some wild bettas too. Should have kept them way back when.

Awesome Video 👍🏻
How long does it usually take for your microworms to get established
If I am making a new culture from one of my existing ones, it will be usable in a week. Worms crawling up the sides.
@@djrramsey yea mine takes a little over a week. I guess I just need to add more from the old culture to get it going faster.
@@vb2377 I just skim the top. That is where the worms are. I try to cover about 1/3 of the new container with the skimmings from the old one.
@David Ramsey oh wow! I’ll need to add more than. It took my culture ten days to really start kicking and mass produce
👍👌😉
