Its so funny to hear the negative comments from the riders. I remember when all these sleds were new. They were the talk of the year. Nothing but positive awesome comments about them. To me they will always be awesome just like they were when new.
Logan you ask how we older ones did it. We were tough. We didn't have what you have to ride like todays sleds. These old sleds were awesome compared to our older leaf spring sleds we came off of. We though of them, just like you do the new sleds.

@@prylosecorsomething3194 I dusty off the old zr 700 ( Freddy) last year. Went through the fox shocks, tinkered on it a little and went for a couple of rides last year. Had a blast. Everyone thought I would be crippled afterward. I felt fine. Kept with the youngsters on new stuff just fine. I'm looking forward to more this year. I only own that and a 2000 ZL440. Still love riding these sleds. I get alot of heads turning when I pull in to get gas, which is quite frequently on the ZR.

Old Triples are the best. I got a 95 ZRT 800 with a 900 top end, ported, PSI pipes, DG "Silencer", 136" TSL skid, and a bunch of other stuff done to it.
When I'm out riding with my buddies on all their newer sleds. It's my old triple that turns the heads and gets the looks. And my sled looks rough, I haven't made it to aesthetics yet, but it just don't matter when it sounds that good.
I'm kind of sad you guys are all riding Polaris's here though, where's a T-cat or a Mach Z? Also, what's with all the talk about the lack of power in the 650's compared to rider forward sleds? Not an ounce of talk on the XCR's power. Come on, we all know what triples are known for.

  • @BM-xj8kr

Almost feels like everyone sponsors new sleds and i feel the same no matter what i ride. So yes i get sore muscles on new and old. I understand my new sled has better suspension but not like im driving a Cadillac.

It's snowmobiling not riding your couch through the bush. If you're tired at the end of the day means it was a good day sledding. That brings back some great memories. I grew up in Huntsville and have made the trek out to Dorset on many occasions and been lost in snow squalls out on Lake Of Bays more than once. Great times, grab that throttle and let er eat!!

So at 16 years old (4 years ago) i get my first sled, my dads childhood 1971 ski whiz. I spend a year figuring out jow emgines work and fixing it and then go out to have fun. Then I tune into this video and see these guys whining about 90's suspension. The newest sled I've ridden is a 1993 polaris indy lite. Compared to my newest sled, a 1977 polaris cobra, it has the best suspension ever. Sorry, good video but man you fellows are spoiled on them new machines.

No Cat's?????? Really??? ZRT 6's and 8's dominated.... not to mention the T-Cat which never had ANY competition through its life span. I was lucky enough back in the day to own a couple and ride a lot of triple triple Cats. The best period. And they had independent suspension which was better then the inferior trailing arm design of all the rest of the Manufacturers. Of course now everyone has A-arms..... but no Triple 2 strokes.

Dude in 1945. There was nothing like the polaris. And on and on. 650 stock 2 stroke. My buddy has same xcr. And broke speed for 800 xc 2013. Dad bought me a elan u remember them jeff? Xcr is beautiful. But i thought polaris X2 pro X 800 is a fast sleed or X1

What a bunch of cry babies. They should ride the early 70s sleds . And the young guy has a sore back, 😢. We rode these sleds from sun up to sun down and had fun doing it. These were Cadillacs in there day and didn’t cost 20000 dollars. Oh well.

If your back hurts you are sitting down too much. Get up and ride it like you stole it over the rough stuff...or just get off the trail and use them in some fluff. None of those sleds were trail models even in their day when they were new letvalone when comparing them to new age shock tech. I miss the old days when sleds looked different, now at a glance it is just cosmetic/colour changes between models and even manufacturers.

Dude these sleds aren’t that old. Acting like these sleds are from the 70s. That xcr800 would roast most trail sleds even today.

Don't talk about these sleds like it's impossible to go on a destination ride. Left home with a quad of triples years ago, pulled back into home 5 days and 1800+ miles later. There were some mornings where the repairs took until afternoon to get rolling again, but we had no support vehicle, and just one little head gasket kept us from all riding back into town at the end of the trip. Destination rides they are.

I’ve owned a lot of sleds but never a triple. I’d totally buy one and do this ride though. I’m thinking an ultra spx, zrt 600, or formula lll. Srx would be really cool too. Probably be next to impossible to find an ultra spx. Don’t think I’ve ever seen one outside of the brochure I collected as a kid. Cool video!
