Invisible trees are a known bug. Your rover thinks it's hitting trees. This happens very often in 'forest' environments, not often at all on plains.
I think on this occasion it's actually the rover doing some funky collisions to itself, possibly the hydro tank interacting with the wheels.
Since you have weld and repair, holding right click with a grinder out will "lock" it to the highlighted block as long as you're holding right-click, so you can't accidentally grind through the block you want to grind and destroy the one behind it.
I keep forgetting about that function
The amount of time I've spent watching people trying to hop up onto their vehicles lol. I'm amazed nobody ever seems to want to use ladders.
I given up even trying ladders on vehicle, the small grid ones are 1 block too long, they never fit where you want them. To be clear, it not an engineering problem, it's murphys law.
Splitsie made a "Scrapyard MES" mod which reduces the time inbetween spawns. It's good for UA-camrs (more action) I however like the relaxing drives through the countryside ;)
Normally I've found MES spawns too often. I'm feeling quite good about the frequency and variety of the spawns ...for me ...in this playthrough and at this time.
If you do not have a base, you can put on an advanced rotor on your trailer and put a rotor head on the assembler, attach it that way on your small grid to power it.

i agree with the previous comment a ladder or ramp would make it so much easier lol that was a great find assembler i been playing ages not got assembler yet
I have free will and will not be influenced nor bow to peer pressure. It's just a coincidence I happen to decide to put a ladder on a rover this morning, completely unrelated to the comments. 🤪
Once you get to space you can find refiners and full assemblers. Also, you can make welders and grinders, a large grid welder can hold a lot of cargo.
Spoiler, I made do for quite a while, I never quite reached the point of needing extra cargo and just when I did, I got lucky and it was like waiting for the bus, none came for ages, then four came at once, literally. I think I've been really lucky with my spawns, I seem to have got exactly what I wanted when I needed it. It makes me very nervous, karma must be coming.
@@Wellington6012 your right to be nervous, Klang and Splitse have a strange relationship.
@@Wellington6012 you got lucky. I have around 100 hours in my scrapyard save. Never found the crane with assembler or an elite tool from the cabin.. Just batteries or cargo's. - cant really use basic assembler for much but i have collected so many tools i wish i could scrap down.
@@maleficentia8390 Fully accept the luck with the crane, also that it was already fallen over and critical parts intact. While I've got the assembler, I can't say I've used it much.
Hi, Splitsie did say that the cranes will either have an assemble or a storage box, but they would be limited on the playthrough.
I do feel like I got very lucky with finding this, assembler is one thing, but haven't found another big battery since.
The part of the train engine that was ground down was a warfare battery.

Set your trailer wheels slower than your tow vehicle wheels. :)

So for grabby hands. If you hold the RMB then LMB it "holds" the item. You can then use whatever your hotkeys are for rotating like standard blocks while holding those to rotate the item your holding. - Reason i say RMB and then LMB is if you try both too quickly you'll often throw the item instead.
It's been a learning thing for me, all the comments have really helped. I apologise in advance, you'll need to grin and bare my struggles for a number of episodes yet.
@@Wellington6012 Yeah i've seen a lot of people struggl;e with grabby hands. even with the extra control it can still be difficult to use. It gets worse in space.
Flatt ground have high spawn rate, same as bases in MES.

It's not really that flat at this stage and I believe the spawns are there, they just spawn behind me and I don't see them or I do see them, but they are inaccessible. Part and parcel of choosing earth I guess. I do make it into a bigger desert than the one I finish this episode in. I still only have one survival kit and it is with me on my rover, my speed demon is tucked away in my top pocket and I refuse to let him out.

I do use them, but also a combination of other things too.
