The fact you actually fight Squatt, Baboo, and Rita are a nice kick, but I would say of the games based on the original series this is definitely the black sheep of the family
I still have this game to this day. It got it for christmas back in 1994. The game was hard as balls on the first level when I first got the game because they don't give you a whole lot of health. I've beaten this game like trillions of times. Even on the hard difficulty. Hard difficulty has the best and true ending. I like it better playing this on the super game boy. When played on the super game boy, the elevators on level 5 make howling noises.

The developers expected us to learn from our mistakes, and learn the game, and we would too. Kids these days don't get that same lesson taught to them.
IIRC, this was one of those games where you only got one life throughout the entire game; no continues, no password, nothing. If not for that, it wouldn't have been nearly as frustrating.

how do i save or continue where i left off? and what is the password stuff popping up?
You use passwords to continue on the level you were. You enter the passwords in "options" on the main menu. Stupid to hide it there, I know..
i find it funny that they say the colours of the rangers when there are no colors
At least they cared more of it in the SGB version by having 5 different palletes for the ranger you're playing as.

LOL Kinda redundant for the game to point out the different color Rangers when this game is in black and white.
I think the word your looking for is "ironic". "Redundant" would be like having the game say "the red ranger that is red"
