I was about 13 years old when the Turbo Grafx 16 was still fairly new. One of these magazines had a contest where you cut out a section of the page, write your info in the form and mail it to them and they draw winners. Well, I won a turbo Grafx 16 console! They mailed that ish to me....was the best time
It's honestly why he's my favorite UA-camr, the work he puts in, the way he flawlessly can callback episodes, or like here, recreate the intro from a previous video to a new one on the same subject, is just fucking amazing. James is a goddamn workhorse.
I discovered the Nerd when I was 15. I loved it so much. Now I'm 27 and still hyped everytime I see a new AVGN episode coming out. James Rolfe, keep up the good work man!
Same man. He's the OG. Others have come and gone, some might be better or funnier sometimes, but no one is the Nerd. I'll always respect him as the trailblazer, and it's great to see his style and writing mature over the years while keeping the original flavour!
Those are actually Acclaim handheld games. Why did Acclaim have the rights to the Simpsons? All the Simpsons video games I saw BITD were made by Acclaim.

There were only a handful of channels making decent content, but those were more professional people with experience in production.
That’s exactly why, content was more humanized and you got to watch it grow on its own without the influence of bullshit editors and adverts. Yeah it was a dark age, but with it came gold that shined bright
I have an old Playstation Magazine copy from when the Playstation 2 was just coming out. One of the little subtitles on the left hand corner was, "Is Playstation Dying?" That makes me chuckle every time I look at it.

The really interesting thing about "Socks the Cat Rocks the Hill" is that it was never released and is considered to be one of the most coveted pieces of videogame lost media.
I actually DID get a video thumb from Street Fighter II on SNES. It was a Japanese version, and we didn’t have a manual, so I kept repeating Hadoken on my own way. This caused a lot of friction and heat, eventually leading to a big blister on my thumb. Good memories though. The final bosses’ names are all shuffled compared to the ones canon now.
Back when I was a kid I used to play against my uncle in Street Fighter II on SNES for hours and he developed video game thumb. Big ass blisters on his thumbs while I only had sore thumbs but no blisters lol.
I used to read GamePro and EGM all the time and loved them. I also used to read Game Informer and Game Fan magazines and while the latter was canceled indefinitely the former disappeared for a while and later reappeared as Game Stop's official magazine and I have an ongoing subscription to it now as a PowerUp Rewards member. Thanks for the trip down memory lane Nerd, it was fun seeing some of these mags again.

I think I had 90% of the game pro and EGM's that he featured, I definitely remembered just about every add he showed. EGM always had some crazy stuff, I remember they had one issue that had a pic of every move in SF2 not just the specials every punch every kick every throw they had a pic with the % of dmg it did. What version of the Street Fighter II did you play? Western or Japanese?
Back when I was a kid I used to play against my uncle in Street Fighter II on SNES for hours and he developed video game thumb. Big ass blisters on his thumbs while I only had sore thumbs but no blisters lol.

I used to read GamePro and EGM all the time and loved them. I also used to read Game Informer and Game Fan magazines and while the latter was canceled indefinitely the former disappeared for a while and later reappeared as Game Stop's official magazine and I have an ongoing subscription to it now as a PowerUp Rewards member. Thanks for the trip down memory lane Nerd, it was fun seeing some of these mags again.

I think I had 90% of the game pro and EGM's that he featured, I definitely remembered just about every add he showed. EGM always had some crazy stuff, I remember they had one issue that had a pic of every move in SF2 not just the specials every punch every kick every throw they had a pic with the % of dmg it did. I really had a great childhood
