I put a lot of effort into editing this video. Let me know if it was worth the effort. I'm always keen on feedback so I can keep making better content. Thanks for watching
@@AboveWorryLevelFlyFishing Yeah I had 8 audio tracks!! It all does take a very long time to whittle down 2 days of 2 x GoPro's footage plus my GH5 and drone footage to a sensible 20 mins I would have had about 10 hours of footage at the start! Crazy ay. Once I put what I needed together I had 45mins of fishing to edit down to something useful. Getting better at it slowly and thankfully I enjoy it. The trouble is all of normal life and family with 2 kids and work going on at the same time. Still worth it though, seeing people enjoying it is what matters.
Keep doing this, reminds me of Wild Fly Productions in a way with the videography and you add your own style of narration and fishing. Very entertaining and the editing is much appreciated.
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing Yeah - lots of time. Most people have no idea! Great that you are getting lots of positive recognition. Having a 2nd person is helpful.
Really liked this one, especially your second day. Looks like a lovely river with some feisty fish. Good to have the parts where things go wrong too - keeping it real. Thanks!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I try my best to present things as close to reality as possible. Things definitely don't always go well. Thankfully the second day worked out well.
Another cracking video Johan and Pawel. Love the use of the different camera angles with you filming each other fighting the fish. Can’t wait to get back on the river soon
Johan, your editing are getting better and better. Can clearly see that it's a passion of yours and willingness to do best. Excellent video. Very well done my friend 👏.
definitely worth the effort Johan, I am pleased you take the time and effort to share these with us, I often think when I am fishing that takes all my time effort and concentration. Sometimes or even often I don't take a photo, after I have let it go I remember the effort guys like yourself put in and berate myself. Cheers and thanks for what you produce
The editing in this video was amazing, I loved the different shots and you did a great job with the editing too. Not to mention you caught some great trout on the fly rod too! Thanks for sharing :)
Great footage. Is Pawels net available at your fishing outlet or is it an overseas purchase? Can't wait to get back to the central north island again and relive the majesty and pure exhilaration it instills. 21.20 minutes of pure pleasure. Thanks and Regards from Gisborne.
Thanks John, very much appreciated and glad you enjoy it. Pawel's net is a Fishpond one from the US. Not sure exactly which one but I can ask for you. I Love Fly Fishing have not been able to source something similar yet.
Gooday Johan. Thanks for sharing your work. Most enjoyable. The Americans fish streamers upstream with plenty of rod movement. Very active way of fishing. Move the fly the instant it hits the water. They say bait fish etc escape downstream with the current. Are we getting it wrong still fishing downstream? Cheers and beers Linton
Thanks Linton, glad you enjoy the videos. I think we have both been watching Mad river outfitters a bit. I have noticed that when I am swinging flies I get a lot of hits shortly after the fly lands near the opposite bank as it starts to swing downstream and with what the Americans do it definitely makes sense. It's something I will be testing a bit when I get the change as it makes a lot of sense.
Yeah I like the idea and have thought of a variety of potential rigs to get a gopro into the river for some good shots but jumping into the river might be the way to go. But I'll wait for summer, it's freezing now. Thanks for the idea
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing Well. Freezing water isn't much fun. Lol. I only had about 50 seconds with a good gulp of air, so great footage would require either an air tank - not worth it. Or your idea with a down rigger on a boat. But we are only talking 6 feet max usually for the deep pools and maybe 2 or three when they are hanging out in front of the rocks in the current. It is cool to see though. You might start with you gopro two feet down in an underbank hangout. Just drop it with a rope and weight it will a half pound jar of rocks or something. I spent an hour observing a nice rainbow sticking his head out for my big juicy worm in Connecticut USA back in 1980. But when they don't bite, they just don't bite. My biggest trout was a six pound Brown two hours north of Montreal Quebec where I live.
Wait 'till you get to my age when you'll find lowering your arse into the river becomes mandatory with every trip. That last fish was worth the dunking though! Thanks for sharing.
I must say I had a good run for a while but that was my second fall from an essentially stationary position in recent times. The previous one left a nasty bruise on my leg too. Glad you enjoyed the video and hope you get plenty of good fish in-between dunkings. Thanks for watching.
Excellent content, just need a little work on the voice over. A little repetitive at times. Also you could show the ring and flys to enhance the content. Kind regards johntrout.
Thanks very much, appreciate the feedback. I'll definitely pay more attention to the VO. I must sometimes I get a bit lazy with filming and don't show things like flies but you are right it does really make s difference. Tight lines and thanks for watching

Great edit, right down to the background bird song - yep, I noticed that! I struggle with anything over 5 minutes, but that's just me!

Top condition trout awsome
Very good condition fish indeed
Cross on the side of the road at 0:57....someone died there?
Possibly, it's often done if someone crashed and died on the road.
Great video Johan - what was the weight of that last rainbow - looked 8lb plus
Thanks Stephen. Unfortunately i didn't weigh that fish but I'd it certainly felt well over 6lb. Was a really good fish.
Noice batch of heens😜
🤣
An underwater camera might be cool. I used to scuba dive in our trout river and swim with the rainbows.

Is it me or do you all think bacon should be crispy? That looks wretched.....the eggs look awesome.
Haha I do love my bacon crispy but that oven was a bit odd. Still tasted very good though.
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing gotcha.
I prefer my bacon uncooked with lots and lots of garlic.
@@brad5065 that's different
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing You didn't fall for that did you? I mean, that would be like eating rainbow trout without seaweed and hot sauce.
