He and Fred VanVleet are some of the only players in modern history to go from the G-League to getting a ring.
Not a lot of teams do this, because there's simply not a lot of players that can come out of the G-League and show the promise that Caruso did for the Lakers.
On top of all that, Caruso had been in the Lakers organization his entire career up until the point where he got traded to the Bulls. That includes the G-League, where he played with the South Bay Lakers (the Lakers' G-League affiliate) up until that first two-way contract got into his hands.
Make no mistake: Alex Caruso is a homeboy to the Lakers, and he'll always be- and the chip he got with them cements that.

Why did the Lakers let him go in the first place. This guy played his heart out every minute and the fans knew and appreciated him for it. Caruso is one of those guys that every coach would like five of. Hated to see him leave. Loved his winning attitude and drive. And based on the comments below, I am not alone !

The Bulls could've brought back DRose if the Lakers matched Caruso's offer (they probably prioritized Caruso's defensive impact over Rose' offense since they're gunning for Derozan) so a win-win for them

I'd pick him over Russell honestly. Just gives positive vibes with the team and good team player. Ive seen both play in real life. Caruso just makes the whole arena alive. Caruso 4th quarter was clutch always seemed to make the right decision. Russ' Ego gets in the way in the 4th and messes up most of the time
