I appreciate the good intention behind this small video and everything is clear.
The first thing, or mistake, I think most teacher out there are doing is to talk to drummers like they are not intelligent...
The main problem here for me basically is to see your need to use an electronic gadget, and not your ears, to tuned a drumhead. For me, it's a clear indication of your incapacity of hearing correctly harmonics for yourself, and an obvious lack of confidence into your capability of adjusting those sound together, setting all lugs at the same harmonic.
The other obvious issue is the batter drumhead, which you didn't choke, it's going to have sound and vibration.
You don't need to think about ''do I have 1 free hand or 2 free hands to tuned?''. It doesn't matter, what matter is the tuning.
When I put the strainer ''OFF'', it comes down naturally with gravity. The only reason you have to think about Q-tips is because you put the snare upside down on the floor, off the stand... It's easier to put the stand very high with the snare on it, strainer off, and simply put one hand on the top head to choke it while you are tuning the resonance head with the other free hand and my head upside down, not the snare...
Also, I don't use electronic device to tuned my drums.
The best advice I could give you is to not play with your arms and wrist crossing 1 on top of the other, it's painful to watch honestly. At this point, you should try the Simon Philips position, open-handed, because you are clearly not comfortable with the hi-hats on your left and judging by a 9 years old video, no one seem to care enough about drumming to tell you that.

Hey sir, sorry but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with everything you have here. I total get that others may have their own techniques and approaches, but having something that's best for you doesn't invalidate what others do. For example I had been tuning by ear for 30 years and was "proud" that I didn't need a device. Then I gave the Tune-bot a try and honestly it's a game changer. I still start by tuning by ear. But then I finish the job with the Tune-bot. I can get the same exact pitch every single time with it. When in the studio, I can re-adjust the tuning of the drums between songs and make sure everything has the same exact tuning for each session. It doesn't replace tuning by ear, it compliments it.

I haven't tied any phone apps. I also never liked using those "Drum Dial" devices. Instead of use the "Tune-bot Studio" as seen here: ua-cam.com/video/ZHYJ6vZPskI/v-deo.html

that all seems pretty pedantic way of doing it.. I've just been shoving a drumstick under it for like 20+ years.. works for me

I don't think a stick will fit under my strands, not loose enough.
