I love that "Here Comes the Bride" analogy. Your guide is the first one that actually made my toms sound good.
But what if you don't have four Tom's? As in you don't have the 8" in your set. Do you start the "here comes the bride" from the floor Tom????
@@throneroom2946 The analogy is meant for 3 toms:
"Here" - floor tom (16")
"Comes" - low tom (12")
"The Bride" - high tom (10")
@@marloforrealThanks, I will try that this morning and see how it sounds
Just sounded to my ear, that from the example he did, the last HIGH TOM 8", didn't sound like "The Bride". Sounded like he only used "Here" on his LOW MID TOM and "Comes" on his HIGH MID TOM to get starting reference. And then used the those two reference with out the analogy 😢...but I will try it and see if it works from the FLOOR 16" Tom
I can like this video even before I watch it because I know what those toms sound like 😅🙌🏽
Thank you for this my guy ..your drums always sounding amazing..we also need a mixing drum course/ tutorial with plug ins and stuff. That would be dope
Thanks for sharing. Always good to see the different processes from great artist. Looking forward to the bass, and snare videos.
Life changing! Thank you for taking your knowledge, time, gear to show us some love tuning!!
✌🏽☺️
Bro, Man thanks for the tuning tips. You just fine tuned the process I had been using. Keep killin' it!👊🏾💯
can hardly wait for the snare tuning and the recording and mixing!
Never knew the importance of cleaning debris from the head to the drums and the here comes the bride melody is just brilliant. Just in time before I re-skin our church kit. Thanks fam! #gotpocket.
Sounds great. Nice pure tone and they don't choke out.
awesome vid!! very cool that you use those intervals between the toms. thank you JRod!!
Excellent job, brother! they sound amazing
This is like behind the scene stuff.
Tuning your drums really takes time and patience . You just really need to keep at it, just like J has been doing on @19:38.
Really appreciate this video, this really helps me and validate that the best sounding drums has been spent time on tuning.
that's fantastic because I finally applied this last method (after using tons of other), and the by feel and ears worked perfectly on my toms ! I checked the note/frequency of each head, and I don't have an uniform interval between heads for each toms xD : so all in the feel, the ears and the "respect" of the drum without stricts formula# and algebra, no hassles.
Thank you sir !
Thank you for this video!
You're an incredible drummer... got yourself another subscriber!
I’m so glad you started with the 12 inch tom, I always have the most difficulty with those.
Great vid, I actually purchased my reference snare after watching you play yours on video after video, it will be cool to see how you approach tuning the same drum when you get to that episode. Thanks again 👊
Your ears are insanely good. Sounds amazing
Thank You for making great content J-Rod!!
Amazing tuning. Love the video.
Great Video! cant wait to see the next ones especially snare tuning👍🏾
Mind blowing with very simple steps I need to go back to retune my toms... Can't wait for the bass and snare tuning
Definitely going to approach my drums with YOUR tuning technique!!!
This what we been waiting on bro!!!!
Perfect tuning
Bro tune hitting that Toms were so soothing for some reason. @ 14:10
Inspired me to properly tune my drums. Great video, very informative. Thanks!
Hey man, much thanks for the detailed drum kit tuning process. I am tearing down my kit and I'm following your step by step procedure to clean, retune, and then start sounding awesome. As I note I have a PhD in physics and I wasn't tuning my drum kit properly, thanks again.
Great stuff bro
I've been tuning drums for a long time and I never thought of using here comes the Bride Melody I've always used George of the jungle Melody interesting keep doing what you doing that's some great wisdom
Thank you for teaching me that. It helps me a lot with my church drums.
Amazing job as usual
FINAALLYYYY LOL. Much needed. Cant wait for video 2.
definitely you have got those toms singing!!
nice one.... i learnt something new.
Thank you so much JROD.
Love your style !
💯💯💯💯🥶🥶 u killin, dat hair cut is fresh 💯💯🔥
I love the set up J - Rod You Are Cold 🙌🙌🙌💯💯💯💯
Thanks fam I needed this so much!!!
YES dude !!! more stuff like this. Snare next, then recording, please!!!!
You fixed my toms, thanks G
I dig the way you tune your drums, I'll have to try your way put, thanks J Rod
Yessir your tone is great
Love your stuff
Thank you very much J - ROD . ❤🔥
Sounds great!
I usually tune my drums about 2 tones lower than the tone on the shell. Then they sound the same pitch as the shell. And the resonant head a little higher than the other. It’s very good and easy to compare with a tuning fork app.
I tried this new method recently, have not recorded yet.
A master class thanks
"Here comes the bride..." Has put the beacons for me 😄
amazing, thanks JROD!
Finally out ❤😊 thanks bruh
such a good lesson thank you
Thank you! 🙏
I love this stuff bro
Just subbed. Thank you for the lesson bro🙏god bless you
I watched this video like 29 times basically most of your tuning tutorials give me ideas
THAT INTRO WASSSSS ANOTHER LEVEL MAN
Love u dude!
A lesson on mixing drums would be great. I really love the good work you're doing here.
Excellent !!!
Anyone else notice he called the reso side the batter side and the batter side the reso side as he was taking the heads off!!! 😂
Thank you for this
Thank you boss for this lesson I appreciate
Thanks good process
Thank you !
This was good🔥🔥

I loved the content. You're incredible drummer and maybe I can play better tuning my drums as you do haha. Thanks bro, greetings from Brazil
Wow nice!!!
Great vid, I always have trouble listening 👂 for tuning
Thank you so much. I will like to send a video after am done tuning the drums to you.
I remember working at guitar center about 15 years ago, our Reference kit was BY FAR the best sounding kit we had, even vs the DW’s. I still remember that bad boy. Amazing.
i love this
Holy crap that preview was awesome I hope I get to play a little bit before I’m 73 years ago just started about five years ago
Man I love the way you tube I’ll be looking forward to the kick drum video I suck at tuning that lol
goooo tuning kick and snare!
Thanks bro
Here comes the bride! I will never forget that!
Thanks so much bro!! The “here comes the bride” Tom explanation really put it into perspective for me and made it easy to understand. 💯
nice man
Thank you so much for this video! This technique can also be using with 2 tons only right ?
Omo You good ❤
Commenting more to help the algorithm!!!
Sounds great. Do you know what Hertz you tuning too or what Note? I use my ears then my tunebot.
Me too that made a lot of sense and funny I just don’t want to make the drum sound like something I liked it first didn’t even notice anything like that and that’s exactly how I did it from the bottom up the biggest drum up
That’s cool
Yessir ❤️💥
Perfect explained! Love it! Which plugin chain do use for your Toms in the DAW. What kind of editing ? ❤️
I’m going to do a video explaining all of this as well!
@@JRODSULLIVAN waiting in anticipation.
Feelin ur sound J
I cry. I worked on shows where every band had to agree to share a drum-kit, We all just had to hope that at least one drummer was a good sport and they could just trade out cymbals from the cymbal bags upon the cymbal stands. I was the sound-guy, just trying to help. Bands tour with rental kits, and a house like mine back then might stow a rental-kit for a few years until we own it. Circumstance cries to all of us.
Can you do a video on how you eq and gate your floor Toms? When recording the floor Tom's, it can be hard getting the sound for your ghost notes to sound right.
Nice tutorial. By the way, I have been told that the "crank and retune" technique is only suitable for Remo heads since other brands use other system. Is that true?
Jrod great videonwill be using your tips to retune my set. Can you do a video on rack tom leveling on clamps or on the kick.
