    ▬▬▬▬ About ▬▬▬▬
    This is the Gevi GrindMaster, a 64mm vertically mounted flat burr grinder with 65 stepped (I was told it may change to become possibly stepless?) grind adjustments and features an adjustable RPM range of 500 to 1500. At the crowdfunding price, this is pretty great value!

    We express our utmost gratitude to Xris for creating excellent videos and reviewing our initial batch of stepped prototypes. In response to the issues raised by Xris, we have made the following adjustments to the latest version of our product:
    1. Stepped to stepless: We have upgraded our machine from 65 steps to a stepless design. The thread pitch has been reduced from 1mm to 0.5mm, and the movement between each smaller step has decreased from 10 micrometers to 5 micrometers. This means that the espresso range is enlarged.
    2. Build quality: We have made substantial improvements to our build quality. For example, we have changed the material of the RPM button from plastic to stainless steel with tree gum inside, ensuring both safety and texture. The main body, support pillar, back cover, and magnetic ring of the dial have become more stable and tighter.
    3. Scale: We have made upgrades to the scale as well. The response time of our scale has been reduced from 3 seconds to 2 seconds. The charging port has been changed to USB-C, and the length of the charging cable has been extended from 61cm to 100cm, enhancing the user experience.
    4. Other upgrades: Additionally, we have made other modifications, such as improving the clarity of the RPM display, removing the shut-off beep sound, and changing the reflective bottom of the dosing cup with the scale to a matte finish.
    Of course, these are not the only changes we have made. We are continuously gathering feedback to further enhance our machine. If you are interested in our upgraded version of the product, you can search for “GrindMaster” on Indiegogo to learn more.We have put in a great deal of effort, resources, and time to gather feedback and make significant upgrades and we have always been attentive to the voices of reviewers, aiming to provide users with better products.
    At the same time,in gratitude and thanks to all our supporters and early adopters of the Gevi Grindmaster’s campaign launch, we are pleased to announce we are doubling our warranty from 1 year to 2 years! (This offer is applicable to all Grindmaster grinders purchased during the campaign.) This extended warranty is a testament to our dedication to your satisfaction and showcases our commitment to quality and reliability, assuring customers that we stand behind the performance and longevity of our product.
    Our goal is to build GrindMaster to be an under $1000 "end game" coffee grinder. To reach this goal, we keep improving GrindMaster and implementing upgrades to it to make it as perfect as possible. Check the following introduction to know what GrindMaster is capable of.

    1-Overall build quality & design
    Grindmaster utilizes precision die-casting technologies to enhance its build quality. You will see its high build quality if you touch it. It’s solid and robust, its body was built with aluminum alloy and manufactured through high-precision die-casting technologies, which is similar to some exceptionally premium grinders. It is an art statement on any counter. It looks like an artwork where modern beauty meets classical aesthetics. Its design inspiration comes from the Parthenon - an ancient Greek architecture.

    2-Configuration & Functionality
    Grindmaster features vertically mounted flat burrs to achieve very low retention and a pre-breaker that is believed to deliver excellent grinds making 64mm burrs can compete with 83mm burrs.
    GrindMaster features stepless adjustment to allow very fine-tuning for your grinds. GrindMaster is built with a 400W 5N·m brushless DC motor to ensure no-stalling and enjoyable grinding. GrindMaster is RPM adjustable from 500 to 1500 and integrated with a LED display on the front to indicate what RPM is being applied.
    Additionally, GrindMaster has plasma generators to ensure no-mess grinding.
    GrindMaster is compatible with 64mm SSP burr sets to offer more brewing possibilities.
    GrindMaster can also access the grind chamber without using any tools.

    3-Pricing
    GrindMaster starts at $499 on indegogo, which is the most favorable price of a 64mm flat-burr coffee grinder that has so many premium functions.
    Further, GrindMaster only costs you $0.7 every day over the 2-year warranty period.
    If you compare GrindMaster to its counterparts with the same quality and features on the grinder market, its price is only a fraction of that of its counterparts.
    We are confident that GrindMaster won’t let you down.

    What do you think about the Gevi GrindMaster? Is it worth it's retail price point, or Indiegogo price point?

      I felt your review of the GEVI GrindMaster Review was noteworthy and maybe ready for a GEN2 or GEN3 version. I went with the Varia VS3 Gen2 - PreOrder. Looks like they updated areas you noted. Would love your review of the VS3 Gen2.

    Thanks for the review! Trying to gather intel for the next grinder purchase. Curious about your thoughts about this grinder vs the other two on your bench in the video - DF64 v2 and Eureka Libra? For reference, I have a lever machine with LSM group and will be using this for pretty much only espresso shots, seldom do milk drinks.

    I am still waiting for my Grindmaster, despite mails in the Indiegogo campaign sending an information about the assembyl and shipping process in early March. Support told me that it will arrive somewhere in April and now June is coming.
    Is this whole campaign a scam? Could you please try to contact the company? Thank you

    I was originally toying with getting a Zerno Z1 or a Timemore 078s but decided to recently order the standard burrs version of the Gevi Grandmaster. The retention inside the auger is a bit worrying but the upgrades they have made to the current Dec-23 run should make it a great grinder. That said, I have a Eureka Mignon Zero 55mm which has been great so far but maybe im just holding out for the Eureka Oro Pro with 64mm burrs or an upgraded Libra grind by weight unit at 64mm burrs. Who knows time will tell but still nervous about the grind retention within the pre breaker auger... I think I saw a few videos that has 1.5g or more of powder in there that will be a day or two old each time

      I do have a DF64 v2 that I'll be covering (shown in the video here at one point). Price to performance, the DF64 is better.

    Why to buy it with regular burrs and change to SSP loosing warranty if you can buy it with SSP burrs pre-installed (and even choose from 3 the kinds)?

    • @itsxris
      @itsxris  8 місяців тому +1

      that is true! thats an option for sure. but generally it would be nice to not lose warranty by swapping

    Frankly, this review reeks of a fear of coming outright and criticising the product. You pointed out that your reviewer unit is literally falling apart and yet that's a mere "nitpick" and "mid" build quality, which begs the question of what does it take for you to consider something "poor" quality, if flimsy plastic, poor design, shaky parts, limited capability, and falling apart at the seams, are still middling.
    "I can't fault it for taking a chance and trying out a new and unique design". What a wild statement given the Barsetto E6 exists, and this is just a repackaging of it. Not to mention the omission of any mention of the Barsetto is misleading at worst, and shows a lack of any research on the product being reviewed in at best, especially given the subpar reviews the Barsetto released to.
    Given this is trying to compete with the Timemore grinders (as you mentioned), which at MSRP are roughly on par with this grinder's crowdfunding price, it seems crazy to call this the "BEST VALUE" or even "pretty great value". Not to mention the other grinders that are readily available at the sub-$450 price point with much more proven track records.

    • @itsxris
      @itsxris  8 місяців тому +2

      1) Only the plastic rear cap is falling off. The remainder of the metal build quality is intact. I don't think I conveyed the level of poor quality that you seem to be referring to, but maybe it was misinterpreted.
      2) The Barsetto grinder is a sister company to this grinder's parent company. Not misleading, and not a lack of research. In fact, I did do the research to find that the advertised Barsetto grinder is actually the one that received the "IF Gold Award" and "Red Dot Design Award".
      3) This grinder appears to only be competing with Timemore at the Kickstarter level, as it's intended MSRP seems to be nearly double that of the Timemore. Also, I have never tried the Timemore grinders. It's good value at its crowdfunding price, to me, because of the nice design aesthetic, adjustable RPM, and even the scale it comes with - despite my complaints with those elements.
      They're not paying me and I'm not being compensated in anyway by them. No fear of speaking ill of the product here.

      @additionalpylons 8 місяців тому

      @@itsxris To me, a piece covering electronic components *falling off* a reviewer unit is not a minor issue, but maybe it can be fixed. This might be okay if it truly was a crowdfunded project, and not a minor tweak to a product that's been on the market for a year. Not to mention the loose front dial (which has been seen on other units), the nearly illegible indicator, and the pre-breaker retention issue (especially for a "zero retention grinder" as their marketing material states). Maybe we have different expectations, but I wouldn't consider that good value for a $450 crowdfunded grinder (not including shipping, duties, etc.) especially when, even not counting the Timemore, the DF64 Gen 2 is better value at a lower price point and readily available.
      Also, Gevi themselves consider the GrindMaster to have won both those awards you mention that were actually awarded to the Barsetto (which I believe are just pay to win anyway), which signifies to me that they're effectively the same grinder. Crowdfunding a product that exists, is odd to me, but choosing to omit this fact from a review confuses me.

      @additionalpylons Many companies use crowdfunding as a marketing tool, not necessarily to get a product off the ground

    • @thecaptainsterling
      @thecaptainsterling 8 місяців тому +2

      I feel the review was fair in showing the flaws. Even if he verbally didn’t roast them, the video definitely emphasizes how rough the build quality was. And calling it “mid” as well drives that home too. Surely these issues will be fixed in production but I feel he showcased the flaws well here.

    • @additionalpylons
      @additionalpylons 8 місяців тому

      @@thecaptainsterling Given the Barsetto has been in production for a while now, I wouldn't expect much to change from these to the units shipped.
