    Sickness can also change the way breast milk tastes..that could have been why he was refusing it

    Ohh noo! It's sods law though, if you hadn't gone you'd probably have been at home thinking you should have gone. Hope that you felt better quickly.
    Maybe we can share bad holiday experiences to feel less alone. We went to Wales once for a walking holiday, but we had a massive storm most of the time, my husband had mild food poisoning and there was a rat in our Airbnb. It really was a terrible holiday lol.

      My terrible holiday experience was when I was 15 I brought a friend from school on holiday with my family and she told me she had trouble sleeping through the night so she would often stay up late or wake up in the middle of the night and step out of the room we were sharing. I just assumed she was going to the bathroom or making a cup of tea or something. Turns out, she was sneaking out at night and buying drugs 😬 the cops brought her back in the middle of the night one night for “curfew” but it was like they knew she was high and they were just giving us a warning. My parents were pissed!

      I got a horrible case of food poisoning on our 25th Anniversary trip, spent our anniversary night on the toilet while hugging the trash can.

    A lot of people knock it, but honestly Centre Parcs is really worth it for domestic vacations. International, some cruises offer creches.

      Totally agree, we had the best times at Center Parcs when my older children were little.

    All of you had been feeling sick, maybe he was feeling sick too and that's why he screamed for so long?
    I hope you're all feeling much better now ❤

    Yes, another thing, the bright windows in hotels and airbnbs. The sun blasting in as soon as it comes up. Just another inconvenience and why I hate vacations.

    No words of wisdom, just here to commiserate. We also had a disaster summer holiday with our toddler.
    Incredibly soggy camping trip, rain at least twice a day every day. Made the decision to bail into a hotel before we switched campsites due to a thunderstorm and managed to get bed bugs.
    So straight home and into the routine of washing and tumble drying everything that went into the room. Jeez.
    Hope you’re feeling better soon and that Orin has a great time at nursery.
    I’d second Center Parcs, out of school holidays it isn’t as expensive and the little ones don’t beg you to pay for all the extras 😂

    Ive always wondered how people put their baby/child to bed so early... can i ask what time he wakes up? For us it depends on the time of year, summer months the sun is out until 9pm... the earliest i could put my kids to bed was 830 Otherwise they'd be awake at 4am... winter i could do a little earlier but not much. So to anyone who put kids to bed early, how long do they sleep?

    I’m so sorry you had such a terrible time 😩 Just a quick warning - food poisoning can in fact be contagious - it’s a bacterial infection and spreads the same way as any other bacterial infection. Be careful of washing hands, surfaces etc when anyone has food poisoning because it can inadvertently infect other people.

    • @Coccinelf
      @Coccinelf 7 місяців тому +4

      I thought food poisoning was when you ingested too much of that bacteria while eating something bad and that other people in contact with you would not get sick because they didn't get in contact in enough of that bacteria. But when I looked it up they count in "food poisoining" when someone gets infected with viruses that cause gastroenteritis so I guess you are completely right. It just never occured to me that a virus could count as food poisoning.

    I remember my toddler doing the same thing with the screaming I found I had to keep offering him a bottle so he would not want it and throw it but eventually would take it and it would settle him,

    Oh noo sorry to hear, sounds so rough! Have had some really rough nights with my bubba but never crying and unsoothable like that, for her the worst would be waking every hour, but would go back down with cuddle/nurse. My bubba went on a strike when we went on a weekend trip to Malaysia and omg it was So painful. I didn't have my pump and was So engorged several times had to hand express into the hotel room sink 🤦🏻‍♀️ thank goodness she was still nursing before bed and overnight, and ate and drank water during the day so wasn't worried for that aspect. Got through it and the strike ended , still nursing now and going to wean right after her 2nd birthday 🙃

    Briney, I hope that you have tackled your ant problem. But if not, a few sprays of a 50% vinegar and water solution usually solves it. It is completely eco friendly and child safe. Ants hate strong smells, and it will be enough of a deterrent for them to find another home.

    Would you mind making a whole video about your experience with sleep from newborn stege and so on... it's kind of a struggle for me right now and I would love to know how others have managed! I found it to be the hardest part these days. Sorry for your holiday experience wishing you get better soon!

    So sorry you are feeling so bad. There is nothing worse than being sick and trying to look after a little one. You are the second UK based UA-camr that I follow who has food poisoning, Mike from TA Outdoors is also really sick to the point of being on IV antibiotics. I hope you recover quickly.

  • @laurencimorellibow

    I do worry about your well-being having this situation where you can make any noise, move around it have any light on when Oryn is asleep. I also worry for myself if I ever have a child lol. Is there no way you can gradually introduce more noise and light while he’s asleep? It sounds extremely impractical for him to go to sleep at 6pm and that be it noise and light wise for you

    Why do you put him to bed so early … you should have adopted French way - take him out to dinner with you and let him nap in stroller ! Sad to stay in hotel all evening 😢

      Because, wild concept, it’s her child so she gets to make the decisions, and you don’t. Shall we not judge other people’s parenting on the internet?

    • @MinimumViablePicnic
      @MinimumViablePicnic 7 місяців тому

      Yeah I've ended up with mine having super early bed times and they get up early. They're happy in this routine.. sorry Oryn had such an awful night, I've had one like that once, the carrier sorted it for me but now I have two kids I can't really easily go for a 3am walk so I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again!!!!

      Not everyone wants to go to restaurants on holidays and some people don’t find that relaxing

    • @Ragdollcatlover
      @Ragdollcatlover 7 місяців тому +3

      You can’t change a small child’s routine - that’s not going to help anyone. Most kids won’t just sleep in a pushchair once they’re past the newborn stage.
