- The brief encounter between Rumple & Snow following the Evil Queen's suspended execution from OUAT S2E14: The Cricket Game.
We should already know by now that these are just one of Rumple's tricks to free the Evil Queen so she would be able to cast the curse, thus accomplishing his master plan of coming to the 'real' world in search for his son.

Can we talk about the camera work a little? The fact that they show an empty seat and Rumple just appears in it in the same shot? I love how effective that is!
They confide with him and rely on him a lot considering all hate the dark one
He's also willing to give people what they want...for a price.
It's more than that. They are 'holier than thou art' people. Rumple is their scape goat. So long as they get what they want, regardless of what he does or has proven better for himself, he is the fault for everything wrong on their life. Even after Regina redeemed herself. They could NEVER take responsibility, not truly.

This! I've always really despised how much the heroes blame Rumple for the deals that they themselves made. You would think they would learn not to make a deal with the devil, yet there they go signing on that dotted line again...
The only exception I give is to Cinderella. She didn't realize that she was signing away her firstborn child, and to my knowledge that's the only deal where Rumple deliberately didn't reveal the price of his deal.
@@themisfitowl2595 yeah, and even then, rumple was still nice to her in the end (even if you take out the deal). personally, I never saw any real malic towards her. I guess because a part of her actually agreed for a little dark magic for the betterment of her life and he understood that perfectly. i think he sort of had a soft spot for her because of that.

Possibly, or just because he kind of softened a bit when he was cursed and lost his "Dark One" persona a little.
The only really evil thing about Rumplestiltskin is his Machiavellian personality, which is a real thing in psychology. It's a person who cannot or does not feel empathy for others but is constantly scheming and planning to use other people for their own gain.
What counters this is Rumple's capacity for love, Baelfire, Belle, Milah, even Cora all had places in his heart, and this is what makes him less a villain and more an antihero.

He needed Regina alive and banished to push her to such misery and rage so that she would at long last cast his curse. On the day of the CHUMPings wedding, he revealed to her about the dark curse, which she gave to Maleficent.
A whole decade eh!
