OMG!! I just discovered my ancestor from #5 Dai Wedding!! Born in Laos escaped to Thailand then America in 1980. Never knew how closely we're related to the Yunnan region. I can certainly relate to the dancing and the the music. Lyrics some words are still very familiar. Gosh i miss Asia and going back to my ancestors land, language and culture. I'm so ashamed of not knowing who i was and what I'm supposed to be. Thank you for this video.
Welcome to Yunnan! I’ve been traveling in Yunnan for more than 1 month, it’s no doubt the most diverse region of China, so rich in culture and nature.

Been to Jakarta once, I was fascinated by the diverse culture of Indonesia when we were roaming around in the national museum. Definitely gonna visit Indonesia again!

China is the original melting pot of many cultures.
The richness in culture is a tremendous asset to domestic tourism. The high speed rail network helps too.
No I think that title belongs to South Asian-Indian civilization. Chinese civilization is unique because they took the hermitic approach

The Hui dress is probably the most shocking it seems like Indian sari hahaha. Very pretty tho reminds me of Indian brides lol
Came here for this
Yeah I'm surprised. I know Indian culture spread to China but that was in the form of Buddhism and related practices and some Chinese minority groups like Dai and Utsul adopted Indian culture. However, I did not expect clothing like this to be adopted by other Chinese groups like Hui who are further away from the Indosphere region. Clearly I need to do more research because I always thought of Hui as Han Chinese-like in culture and that the main difference is that they follow Islam.
Hui people are descendants of Arabs/Persian traders that married into the local population during that 7th - 9th century. The Arabic and Persian genes have diluted over the centuries of course. The bride's wedding gown resemble more of Persian traditional origin.

@@DucaTech I was looking into Hui Muslim bridal clothing yesterday and it looks different to the one featured in this video. The pictures I found look more like Islamic bridal wear but the clothing this lady is wearing looks like Indian or Nepalese bridal clothing. What she must be wearing must be an exception because this looks very different to Islamic bridal wear of Iran.
This video is an eye opening experience for me. I am a chinese (ethnic han) living abroad. I did not know much about China nor its minority groups. Thanks for the lesson and please continue with your great work.

Can someone please tell me if Native Indians in north America are still FREE to practice their culture? They don't even speak their native language anymore. Same like Aborigins in Oceania.
A lot of them lost their way of life.
They are soon will be a history and see them in museum. Very sad, wish they were like the minorities in China flourish.I met a father and son of Indian, they go around to exhibit their way of life, he told me he didn't know how many his people were in us.they are spreading all the country, like different tribes, not a tight community, slowly dying out of the way their life.
They're listed as an endangered species.
Speaking of cultural genocide. One only has to open his eyes and see which cultures are dying out. And definitely not those in china
They are. Some lost their languages but I have heard Navajos speaking their language with each other, in fact Navajo code talkers from WW2 are very famous

@user-wf7km9wh7f I don't know what prompted you to bring up the this subject but whites are not the problem in my America.
I am an American of Mexican descent married to a Black man from Mississippi.
I take offense to your ignorant remark. There are no slaves in America in 2023 ..only people who kill, loot and play victim. There was a time when Mexicans were mistreated by white people too we weren't called the N word...we were called "wetbacks" ...but we didn't complain, protest or made ourselves the victims...we are a strong people we work hard in America, we own our own homes own vehicles and we own our own business and we are fast becoming
the majority with buying power despite the language barrier. In my America. Blacks could be doing the same thing but they'd much rather be on welfare..and play the victims to the world...I wish they were hard workers like real Afrikans!
BLESSINGS to all mankind.
I'm in awe at different wedding ceremonies of each of these ethnic groups. Exhilirating and exotic to say the least, full of tradition and custom that I never knew existed. Thank you for taking the time to educate us from the otherside of the world. Appreciate this very much. God bless you all. Hullo from Perth, Western Australia.
Wow. Super interesting! Tajik wedding really is quite amazing !😊
Tajik wedding has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by the Chinese government.
WOW. This was so fascinating!!! I love how their is lots of colour and traditional embellishments on all the brides outfits. My favourites were the Miao and Rural Mongolian weddings. All these weddings involve all the senses - sight, touch, scents, sound and taste and are sooooo vibrant with tradition and love. Makes most western weddings look boring and a glorified drinking session.

Tibet was incorporated into China since the Yuan Dynasty, and had been so, a short-lived independence in a fraction of ROC era will not make it a new country, and by trying to be independence with the support of cia during the early PRC didn't make it a country either.

Mostly dai , mangolians and Tibet weddings are held in pagoda or chapel (Buddhists or dharmic temples) the process is so long , to take blessings from gods till farewell. But in this video only some starting points and cultural dances have been covered

You should do the various kinds of 'Han Chinese' weddings to show that the Han Chinese themselves are very diverse! Only uneducated people including uneducated Han Chinese themselves think Han culture is monolithic and homogeneous.
DO NOT WORRY CHINESE ASSIMILATE THEM ALL
Han Chinese weddings require a lot of money and are very complicated. I will never forget that the groom is riding a horse at the back, and I walked 2 kilometers ahead as the best man with this sign. During the wedding, there were also archery and poetry writing.

Before 1949, the Chinese refer to the Han people (even if there are other ethnic groups in China, the Han people live in the city , and other non -Han people live outside the city. They are separated). They are separated).
After 1949, all non -Han people also gave the "Chinese ID card" as modern Chinese (including a large number of Koreans who sneaked into China after 1900). There is a "national identity" on the Chinese ID card.
----------------------
Since ancient times, the Han people in China and the non -Han people in China have lived separately (the population ratio is 99: 1).
The Han people live in the city, not the Han people live outside the city (there are also a small part of the Han people who have been exiled and escaped from the war outside the city).
Therefore, Chinese ethnic minorities have always existed (some menstrual history), and their genes and culture have also retained very primitive, and they have changed very little. (For example: a large number of Korean people sneaked into China in 1900, and they have always existed. Have a Chinese ID card, but most of them are not married to the Chinese)
