Nice summary and review for all umpires regardless of level, especially to start a season. Good closing: do your job. What about the potential pulled foot when there is lot of action and you are in C position? Make call first then go to partner?
Putting the ball back in play every time is so important - I’ve seen it happen so many times where there’s an attempted pickoff play and then you look stupid when you call it after the fact
This Jackwagon starts his lesson with saying nobody cares about your resume...blah blah then proceeds to resume drop for 30 minutes. When I filled in at AA blah blah.
1 min into his speaking my first thought was, "what an asshole." He comes off so abrasive. These guys are umpiring high school. All of them probably have full time jobs and he's talking to them like they just got hired in the MLB.
Buenos dias, que bueno seria que estos videos tuvieran traducidos al español para que los arbitros de lengua hispana como es mi caso lo pudiéramos entender , soy de Los Puertos de Altagracia municipio Miranda estado Zulia .Venezuela .
His dissertation regarding a swipe tag I COULD NOT DISAGREE MORE. If you are on the bases in B or C position, I DO NOT HAVE THE BEST ANGLE FOR A SWIPE TAG. My partner on the plate is showing me a fist or an open hand that I check for before I render my call!!!!!!
In the old days you would walk into a grocery store and there would be cans of corn on the high shelf, the clerk would use a long stick with some type of hook at the end knock the can off of the shelf and catch it, therefore catching a fly ball is as easy as catching a can of corn.
mac2894 but I’m not talking about a can I CORn. Read and pay attention keyboard umpire know it all btw- this was 2 years ago. I’m sure I’ll get something back...... but I’m really not going to spend a lot of time on this nonsense when there are other things to worry about now
This is the ump that everybody hates when he shows up at your game.
Yeah but at least he knows what he’s doing
He's the umpire I'd want calling balls and strikes when I'm on the mound.
I just got my license for IHSA (Illinois). I only have slowpitch experience. This video was so helpful. Thanks.
Our Westchester association has added dozens of new members the past two seasons. If you must know.
Excellent message of professionalism. Experience with examples helps.

He does a good job with general instructions and scenarios.
Bet he's fun to work with.
I'm glad you didn't edit 32:15 LOL... Great clinic...

jason jordan Great point. But he does provide tremendous information on umpiring.

Jack wagon is a perfect term for this blowhard
Especially since the Atlantic League isn't AA....

Is the Westchester baseball umpire association struggling to fill in umpire spots?
Why are you teaching umpires to call balls strikes? A pitch off the plate is a ball regardless if the catcher moves his glove or not
Talk to other people about me! PLEEEEEZE.

What's a "can of corn"?
Slang for an easy to catch fly ball to the outfield. Sometimes you will hear big league announcers call it a "lazy fly ball" as well.
An mlb plate has black trim around it it is part of the plate- strange comment- know the game

@@tc4421 He didn't ask what the "black" is. He asked what a "can of corn is." It's an easy-to-catch fly ball to the outfield -- know the game.

Routine fly ball.
