I've been making this for years! It's delicious and so easy. I add a little vanilla to the first pudding layer and a bit of coffee to the chocolate layer. I also like to sprinkle some sea salt and drizzle a little caramel over the top. 😋
Would rather have a written recipe in addition to the video. Easier to convert into US measurements. Doesn't really look like it takes a long time but it certainly doesn't take too minutes.
@@sheba0907 We make this sorta. Chocolate eclair cake.. graham crackers layered the same, French vanilla instant pudding mixed with milk. Fold in cool whip, top with graham crackers and then chocolate frosting heated enough to pour on over the top. This recipe looks awesome but I am lazy and use this no bake/cook recipe instead.
I’m going to try this, adding the suggestion of vanilla in the pudding and coffee in the chocolate. I will also switch the chocolate pudding to the first layer to give it a more appealing look. Adding a drizzle of caramel over the final chocolate ganache. Can’t wait. Thank you all for your suggestions. Issaquah, WA 🇺🇸
Ooooo…those switch outs all sound great!! I’m thinking of Pepperidge Farm cookies, either Chessmen or the crispy, wafer-like Bordeaux cookies with this. I’m from the Olympic Peninsula in the beautiful Evergreen state of Washington! Howdy, neighbor!
I'm sitting in my car reading this and drooling 🤤. Can't wait to make and eat it! Thanks for sharing! I am American from Louisiana where we love Spicey food and this will be cool and smooth to stop the burn.
Yumm! 😋 I think I'd probably rearrange the layers around a bit differently and put the chocolate custard on the bottom then the vanilla custard next then top the vanilla custard with the chocolate ganache. I think that way the layers would look even prettier plus you'd end up with 2 layers of chocolate instead of just 1. 😀
Looks yummy! Looking forward to making it. I'll add a little vanilla extract and a wee tiny pinch of salt into the pudding - salt brings out the flavor of the chocolate. Thanks for your video. :)
Same in my country Serbia. We call it the same, icebox cake. Most of these cakes are old recipes that my grandma made. Nothing new. Grandmathers new how to cook with little money and create amaizing recipes. I have book with my grandmas recipes and most of these cakes are in it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I just heard 2 hours ago, folks are coming to my house to eat!... I wasn't prepared at all! I'm used to folks dropping by, but this is a bit more preparation. Small turkey thawing. Smiling my beautiful smile at you all. Enjoy your day!
Everyone knows about this recipe, apparently,.but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to prepare and share. Fantasies, Baie dankie
Oh, I really think I'll make this with a tweak or two. It looks super scrumptious, 👌and rich enough that you really wouldn't need a very big piece. HUGE thumbs up! ☝❤
This was delicious as promised! Just started learning how to cook and make food at the late age of 63 and I can't thank you enough for making recipes easy to follow. I've made many of your creations and we love them. Thank you much.
We used to call this an eclair cake and I've made it for 35 years. I'm positive it was going on well before that. It IS delicious😁 it's " fast" if you use instant French vanilla/ choclate pudding. I would end with the layer of graham crackers on top and then pour some melted chocolate over them and let set up. There's really a variety of ways that you can play with this combo, so to speak. Just remember to add less milk, than you would if you were making the pudding itself, to thicken it up
Wow, that looks fabulous!! I make a similar recipe, but you've simplified the custard-making method from my usual methodology! Going to try it, thank you! Cheers from New York state!! 💖
I've made this same dessert for years except I have used a packaged cooked vanilla and chocolate pudding (jello brand) instead of cooking my own pudding from scratch. I've also used whipped cream as a topping. Either way it's delicious.
In the U.S. we have no idea what 400g, or 15ml is. We need cups, Tbsp, 1/2 cup, etc. We can't possibly recreate this recipe with European measurements, waste of our time.
Good idea to use packaged vanilla and chocolate...thank you One more question...probably stupid But I am going to ask anyways What kinda of biscuits work best????
@saraburrow7451 Speak for yourself. I grew up in the 1970’s and we learned metric. It isn’t “European measurements” The rest of the world uses metric. Every measuring cup I’ve seen in the US also has metric on one side. Get a kitchen scale for weight, or look up the equivalent on Google. I really want to try this dessert, it's different than any I've ever made and looks spectacular! Thanks for the great tutorial, I will be back to watch this one again~
Thank you for the yummy recipe! I've had this before, and IT IS DELICIOUS. We used to make this with a few drops almond extract. Rich, but perfect for the holidays
Thank you! I love that this is all basic ingredients; no condensed milk, no pudding mix or cool whip!❤
Not only that, it takes just 5 minutes!! 🙄🤪
Sugar is healthier than corn starch. And crackers are not healthy.
I've been making this for years! It's delicious and so easy. I add a little vanilla to the first pudding layer and a bit of coffee to the chocolate layer. I also like to sprinkle some sea salt and drizzle a little caramel over the top. 😋
Looks great and surely will taste delicious
Sounds decadent.
Yes, you have to have vanilla and the coffee sounds great.
No dounf
What type of cracker/cookie was used? And this looks so very good, is there a name?
This is what we call chocolate eclair cake. It has been a favorite for many years

We call it Graham Cracker Pudding in my household 😋 👌 🙌. Superbly Delicious 😋😋🤤😋😋.
Лучше первый слой делать с какао, а второй светлый, потом глазурь, будет красивее.

Been our families favorite birthday cake since the 60’s. Adding a layer of sliced banana on each pudding layer was our version
What exactly is the bottom layer? At fist glance thought of graham crackers
Fantastic! But the only 5 minutes to apply here is the time it would take me to eat it.😊❤❤❤
Danke! Es sieht toll aus und sieht wirklich einfach zu machen aus. Vielen Dank! Michal.🌿🌻
No vanilla?
It looks a lot like Nanaimo bars. And this is definitely more than 5 minutes, but still looks quite easy. I like the no-bake aspect of it. 😊
Looks like something I would like.
My mom used to make this. We call it “Ice Box Cake”. 👍🏼
Yes! My grandma made something similar and called it graham cracker cake.
yeah, my mom did too and we called it ice box cake also. brings back so many memories. thanks!
What kind of biscuits or crackers are used in this?
@@dee3620graham crackers maybe
This looks exactly like the custard + chocolate pudding we kids got at home way back in the fifties! Minus the melted chocolate though. 😋
In Galicia, Northwest Spain, we call it grandma's cake.

Porque no dice que se pone la cazuela desde un pricipio en el fuego??😝🙄😝🙄
I agree 💯%. Giving it a contrasted look would be more appealing. The coffee addition sounds great too, as does the addition of vanilla.
Or adding a little mint flavoring to one of the chocolates would be good also ! 😋

I don't know why these uploaders continually use this 5-minute baiting. If it's a good recipe, the time involved isn't relevant so why lie about it.
They just do.
Clickbait. They lack integrity
Agree 100%
Not five minutes to prepare this from scratch, but it looks incredible, and not too difficult at all.
It looks delightful, but "5 minutes" ? Tut, tut! Clickbait.
Maybe 5ish minutes to watch lol😂
As usual, people "exaggerate" the amount of time anything takes to make.
Right? An hour in the fridge, alone!
@@stephanieray6587 Even if it were only prep time I'd give it to them, but very few "quick" recipes are actually that.

It looks yummy, yet, I cannot imagine making it in only five minutes. I’ll try it anyway!
Obviously.
With the prepping, mixing, cooking, spreading, and chilling - it would be safe to say slightly more than 5 minutes - perhaps 2 hours?
😊
Definitely going to make this but I think I will start with the chocolate layer, then vanilla, then the ganache.
