    For anyone wondering about screws, i needed:
    4x M3x8 to mount the metal paddles to the extension
    4x M4x12 to put the paddle extension parts together
    3x M4x25 to mount the back plastic button shell to the wheel core
    6x M5x20 (+ 6x M5 nuts) to attach the wheel

    • @flyfox3621
      @flyfox3621 Рік тому +1

      @@MattyTxp Glad i could help! that list is new hardware, yes. except for the original M3x8 that hold the stock metal paddles, I had to buy all separately (some wheels include M5 screws but you will need M5 nuts for the hexagonal slots on the rear adapter part)
      I was able to reuse the original long screws holding the wheel core in place, so they're not included. same with all the screws for the button panel, they can be reused

    Nice!
    I just came from a G29 to a CSL DD.
    And as an owner and user of both DD and gear driven, I'm gonna say, this mod is actually worth it!
    The G29 is surprisingly nearly as good as even a DD! Yes I'm not talking shlt here... is it louder? Yes! And? It's still a great wheel

    This looks like an amazing mod and I'm absolutely gonna give it a try, thankfully I know someone with a 3d printer, though I am wondering if you or someone else knows if someone has designed a piece to go on the button base to fill in the gaps? So like there the start/select buttons are now free floating as they would normally go over the wheel itself, someone should design a plate to go inbetween the buttons and the button base to make it look cleaner

    Have you ever seen the aluminum bracket that holds the wheel bearing tight inside the plastic case? It seems like the wheel sometimes gets wobbly inside the mount and there is an aluminum bracket to make it ridged. Curious if anyone has purchased this with good results? Just seems to me like adding a much larger wheel will only cause the wheel to wobble more.

      If you do enough infill, you won’t have any issues. At first It became loose, with 30%, but used 60% and was much stronger. Mine had a tendency to warp during printing, but that needed some calibration on the printer

    very good mod, but I think that in a steering wheel with a force feedback as mediocre as the g29 it would be better to mod f1 or gt3 so that the size of the rim does not affect the few n/m it has

  • @arranmc182
    @arranmc182 Рік тому

    I did this mod to a G29 and it reduced the rotaional speed because the wheel rim weighs more so now the motors have more mass they need to rotate thus reducing the output from the motors as more weight acts as a damper the exact oposite to what you want to do to the wheel as more damper affect the less you feel details from the force feedback. remember the G29 and such are only rated for around 2.5nm of force so any extra weight will reduce that down, personally I see this mod as paying to downgrade the feedback feeling of the wheel.

    Just about to do this mod. Thanks for this! Did you need to buy any extra screws/nuts/bolts?

    • @MattyTxp

      I was thinking this too. It seems there is extra fasteners to assemble the paddle shifter extensions.

      @@MattyTxp I ended up getting it printed and just bought a box of different sized "M" bolts and nuts, just in case. Defos need some. But once you get it setup its amazing! I'm loving the buttons up front of the full size rim.

      As long as you buy a wheel with the same weight it shouldn’t make a big difference.
