For anyone wondering about screws, i needed: 4x M3x8 to mount the metal paddles to the extension 4x M4x12 to put the paddle extension parts together 3x M4x25 to mount the back plastic button shell to the wheel core 6x M5x20 (+ 6x M5 nuts) to attach the wheel

@@MattyTxp Glad i could help! that list is new hardware, yes. except for the original M3x8 that hold the stock metal paddles, I had to buy all separately (some wheels include M5 screws but you will need M5 nuts for the hexagonal slots on the rear adapter part) I was able to reuse the original long screws holding the wheel core in place, so they're not included. same with all the screws for the button panel, they can be reused
Such a great mod! I'm not planning on installing a custom wheel anytime soon, but this is definitely the best custom wheel solution I've seen around for Logitech wheels. Cheers!
Nice! I just came from a G29 to a CSL DD. And as an owner and user of both DD and gear driven, I'm gonna say, this mod is actually worth it! The G29 is surprisingly nearly as good as even a DD! Yes I'm not talking shlt here... is it louder? Yes! And? It's still a great wheel
I like this! Looks ideal for the G923 actually so it keeps all its added functionalities It is important to keep your wheel weight as low as possible though
I have found this video before actually buying the Logitech G29 and i forgot to save this and finally found it after a month 😂 best solution for the wheel adapter, i love how the buttons are in front of the wheel!
This looks like an amazing mod and I'm absolutely gonna give it a try, thankfully I know someone with a 3d printer, though I am wondering if you or someone else knows if someone has designed a piece to go on the button base to fill in the gaps? So like there the start/select buttons are now free floating as they would normally go over the wheel itself, someone should design a plate to go inbetween the buttons and the button base to make it look cleaner

Also are all wheels compatable (shape, screw position etc.). I would I appreciate if someone could share a link for a suitable wheel.
The main concern a lot of people have when mounting an aftermarket wheel on the G29 is motor life and weight of what's mounted. The biggest drawback of doing this may be weight. Correct me if I'm wrong.
@@Noahdea611 depends, if you put a heavier wheel it will make ffb slower, but people tend to put their ffb higher so they get the wheel to be as fast as before, and that affects motor life
Very cool modification. Do you feel that the FFB was effected in anyway? It definitely looks that it translates the FFB to the wheel better than the popular adapter that goes over the buttons.
Have you ever seen the aluminum bracket that holds the wheel bearing tight inside the plastic case? It seems like the wheel sometimes gets wobbly inside the mount and there is an aluminum bracket to make it ridged. Curious if anyone has purchased this with good results? Just seems to me like adding a much larger wheel will only cause the wheel to wobble more.
I wanna do something very similar like this I have this old racinf wheel that i got from one of my dads old cars, and i drilled holes for it to screw onto the front with 3 of the 6 hex screws I took off the button face and i screwed the racing wheel to the back part of the button face, and i need some standoffs so i can have the buttons in front
What’s the best material to print this in I bin using it from a week all was good until I played dirt rally today and it’s like all flabby and wiggly like it’s gonna snap some on the first piece you install good thing is my print guy made me an extra one so I’m still in commission for now
Have you considered making a bundle kit with 3d printed parts and screws? Because I'll buy right away, I'm in southern Italy and 3d printing services are more expensive than a Cheap 3d printer, deepdish steering wheel is around 40€ (that should be the big expense) if i check how much to print and ship 3d parts is around 120€.. seriously can you make it?

the screw that comes with the deep dish is short so i went to the hardware store and bought a longer screw.. just bring the screw that came with the wheel (deep dish)
Woah I’ve never seen the buttons put in the front of the wheel. Usually people put it in the behind the wheel. Now with the buttons in the front it looks like a flat wheel. It doesn’t look like an old muscle car.

Awesome mod and great video. How is the force feedback? I want to use custom and bigger wheel but I don't like the fact I will loose force feedback, also I don't want to damage the motors inside. Could someone give advice or share experience?
More weight from a bigger rim will act as a damper reducing power output from the motors as they will now have to work harder because of the extra rotational mass, remember the G29 and such is only rated around the 2.5nm mark for the power output so more wight will reduce that down, you cant escape physics.
@@arranmc182 I used only 13 inch very lightweight rim. Weights just a tiny bit more than original G29 rim with buttons. I mounted mine straight on the base shaft, no adapters added. The motors are handling it well, no issues and my drifting even got better :)
the ffb will get just a little bit slower, but it wont damage the motors, it will only damage the motors if you put even more ffb (basically, more than 100% of ffb)
If you do enough infill, you won’t have any issues. At first It became loose, with 30%, but used 60% and was much stronger. Mine had a tendency to warp during printing, but that needed some calibration on the printer
very good mod, but I think that in a steering wheel with a force feedback as mediocre as the g29 it would be better to mod f1 or gt3 so that the size of the rim does not affect the few n/m it has
I did this mod to a G29 and it reduced the rotaional speed because the wheel rim weighs more so now the motors have more mass they need to rotate thus reducing the output from the motors as more weight acts as a damper the exact oposite to what you want to do to the wheel as more damper affect the less you feel details from the force feedback. remember the G29 and such are only rated for around 2.5nm of force so any extra weight will reduce that down, personally I see this mod as paying to downgrade the feedback feeling of the wheel.
@@MattyTxp I ended up getting it printed and just bought a box of different sized "M" bolts and nuts, just in case. Defos need some. But once you get it setup its amazing! I'm loving the buttons up front of the full size rim.

I may be a little late, but wheel swapping you do lose a little ffb but that's it. wheel swapping does not affect motor life

I did see it, but haven’t had the chance to test it out, but indeed it will look like it’ll be more sturdy and a tiny bit silent as well.

I used PLA printed at 60% infill and it's working well. Feel solid. I used the hardware suggested in the other comment
I also made sure to print with supports for the 3 screw holes the go into the wheel. I used a punch to get them out after.
use a aluminium adapter, plastic ones tend to break easily, specially if you drift/rally
I dont want to modify the wheel but for rally its way too small, might be inevitable eventually.
Looking at my own g920 I don’t think this will work bc the button plate dose not separate from the neck

I hear the t300 is a better wheel. I have the Logitech with this modification and it's nice, but the thrust master is a better wheel.
t300 has better ffb, 1080 degrees of rotation, uses belt system (more realistic) and produces less noise

You are missing the M5 nuts to secure the wheel in the first part that goes on in the back.

Yes, I built the paddle extenders with a deep dish in mind.
If you install a non-deep dish, it will certainly hit the wheel.

It’s not ideal to use it with a flat steering wheel, the buttons will stick out too much and the paddles will hit the wheel.

Hi, it seems the ebay link doesn't work anymore, it was a boss mount compatible, 35cm diameter and 9.5cm deep dish. It was relatively cheap, only £17.
