For a beginner it has always been a confusing question about which one to go for. Many buyers decided on the looks however this video brings us beyond that. Every wood has its own particular flavor of sound and that is quite the amazing part about it. That makes every guitar to sound different and special. We have chosen The Kepma EDC because these guitars have mahogany back and sides and its just the top that is different. Both guitars were set on similar action to bring out the best comparison between them.
The tonal difference will be similar on solid top guitars as well, but they will be more pronounced as opposed to laminate tops. Spruce and Mahogany both are amazing tone woods and each have their own Fan club. This video is not about putting one ahead than the other, but celebrating the difference in tonality.
This video is about Mid level guitars suitable for beginners and intermediate guitar players. And hope we helped!

I love how the guy demonstrating moves his lips along with his playing! You can tell he’s trying to keep it to himself but it’s such a sweet quirk! As for which is better, I think mahogany matches my style a lot more since I have a warmer voice and tend to gravitate to finger style indie/folk songs which to me sound better with mahogany. I choose Spruce against Mahagony because it sounded brighter and I like that sound, which through out every crystal sounds which strings produces.... But here in this video at least to me Mahagony sounded better in terms of warmth as well as clearity either picking or playing chords...... 😀😀 May be it depends on manufacturers of what wood they use ...Thanks.... 👍👍😀

ill tell you why i think spruce is superior when the strings get older it still dhas good volume
Spruce gives a less pronounced midrange which mahogany does. On the other hand,mahogany lacks a bit of sparkle and low end resonance I guess. Sounds more subdued(compressed?).

I would’ve said that the Mahogany has a ‘brighter’ sound....I suppose it depends what your definition of bright is
The Mahogany does sound a bit brighter than the spruce on picking and chords (segment 2 & 3). This is not the norm. Many times (more than not but not always) Spruce is the brighter sounding wood .. It can also come down to the guitar itself and naturally the player. Different players sound / create tones differently on the same guitar at times .. because the accentuate and attenuate the chords / notes differently. As well .. the guitar itself from manufacturer to manufact5urer can sound different and present the unexpected .. hence Segments 2 and 3 here of their tests.

To be clear, you are talking about a laminated spruce top and a laminated mahogany top, even though you describe them as mid-level guitars.
They both sound good but I was surprised how different they were. We expect solid timber tops made from different woods to sound as different as this.
You have to buy both..😁

The most important is that the Guitar quality. For beginner at least 15k guitar you need to buy. Below under 15k is wack..fender..Cort.. kepma..is the best...don't buy yamaha I'm telling Yamaha guitar quality is cheap as f* sound is good but..after months or year..you will have a problem.. Yamaha Higher guitar 50k or something it's good..but not 15k to 20k..and lastly local company Guitar those are wack never buy local guitar...Fender..Ibanez.. kepma..Cort. these are real quality guitars.so there you have it.

spruce wood will be better cause I like rock music and fingerstyle can be played semi-acousticaly but mahogany wood is good for fingerstyle not for rock music and in my opinion spruce wood can fulfill everyone's need

Mohogany is bright, spruce is more balanced.
Spruce gives a bassy sound and Mahogany gives a sharp and crisp sound..
For Almost 95% Times Spruce Top is the Best... Unless you're a cracked guitarist ..to notice the difference in general
