what we know is OG wanted a bigger role... how does going to the knicks give him a bigger role exactly if brunson has the ball in his hands 75% of the time and OG has been mitigated to corner 3's again??? now that fred, siakam and dennis are off the team, it frees up OG to be the 3rd option (shared with RJ) so his fit would work better now on the raptors. it's a longshot, but seems more likely than OG going to philli where he will be a 4th option at best and run into the ground by nurse.

No contending team is trusting OG to play make, his off the bounce game leaves so much to be desired, he isn't Jerami Grant. Him coming back to the Raptors makes 0 sense as we aren't going to give him what he wants either.

OG is too injury prone to invest a max long term deal into. As he ages it will only get worse. Hes one of the best 2 way players if not for those health concerns.

Is OG or RB willing to play SG?
It also means OG is in your plans to win a championship. Why pay him 4+ years on a re-tool? He would be signed knowing the other 3 must be signed and that the math works for this team to be competitive in a few years like they planned.

Raps should find a way to make a 40 mill a year offer, if they get him great. If not, they at least drove the price up for a division rival
OG is looking for money way beyond his worth. He is a hot and cold player and has a lousy record for injury offs.
Wouldn’t say that Masai has been “slacking on finesses” his hands have been tied since the Leonard / derozan deal. Because derozan was such a baby about being traded and took it too personal - Masai now gets the players involved way too much in the deals. Asking their preferred destinations and laying the cards out for other GMs to finesse us. If Indiana didn’t know that they were pascals preferred destination, they would have probably given us a young prospect in the deal. But they dug their heels in saying no, because they knew that if the deal didn’t happen they could probably get him in free agency. Same thing happened with Kyle. The players just really need to stay out of it. I get that they’re people outside of basketball, but they just need to let the GMs do their job. And realize that any team you get traded to is an opportunity - you get a fresh start in a new system, you get new fans, sell more jerseys, experience a new city, grow your professional network in the league, etc… Derozan was really loved by San Antonio, he was put on a team with one of the best coaches of all time, it was a good situation for him and Jak. But his attitude and public expression about being “betrayed” really ruined Masais ability do his job well.
I'm still under the impression OG wasn't a thought to be traded. The Knicks just offered a deal too hard to pass on. It made total sense to keep one of OG or Siakam. Him resigning with Tor wouldn't be surprising to me.

I feel like the obvious choice is not being stated. Pacers signing OG makes a lot of sense to.
Facts.
I love OG as a human being and a player. I say we give him an offer sheet for $40+M/yr for 3 or 4 years. If we can't get him back, at least we help him get paid like FVV and PS, and force the other teams trying to get him to use up valuable cap space. If there was ever a Raptor that we should overpay, it's OG. He has been unselfish and deserves it.
At worst, you mess with NY's cap.

I feel for NY fans. The Knicks should be a power house. A huge fan base and money to spend in one of the most amazing cities in the world. Some say it is the mecca for basketball.

OG is great player but I dont see how paying him 35 million up to a max contract is going to work out for a team. He is a great player however with his injury history this is a risk. Way I see it with the new CBA teams that avoid paying crazy salaries will get deals at some point when teams are maxed out.
Someone is going to pay OG north of 40 million and someone is going to pay Pascal north of 50 million. Those two teams are going to be handcuffed at some point. In a couple of years teams that stay out of the salary trap are going to get deals and win championships
What is your definition of greatness? To me, a great player is worth 35 mil. I think OG is a solid starter, but I cannot consider him great.
If he doesn't take the Knicks offer. He is heading either to the Lakers or Sixers. He is not coming back to the Raps.

If Knicks don’t even want to negotiate with him successfully, he will just stick with the teams that do. I think he will go to the 76ers tbh. Knicks can’t sign him for the amount he wants and expect to have any depth left. Better they just keep the cap space, cut their losses and then try to go for someone like Mitchell when he’s available instead. OG is too injury prone to invest such money on.
