    They are what they are. I've had vintage Vespas, modern auto Vespas, expensive Piaggio 4 strokes, cheap 2 stroke asian 90's, a big ass used 2009 SYM 125 (most reliable bike I ever owned, that never broke down or never did not start in 5 yrs) and now I'm on a 2018 SYM Jet 14 that is an absoulute weapon. I have loved them all for different reasons. The most important thing in any scooter is firstly that you picked it, you like it and enjoy riding it and secondly that when you hit the button, it starts and gets you where you need to be. Best leave the snobbery to the snobs and enjoy your ride whatever it is.

    This guy is too negative about scooters.. Scooters are very reliable and most are great gas savers and easier to service than a motorcycle.I have rode across the US on both a motorcycle and a scooter and I enjoyed the scooter more..

      As an observer of the two wheeled world I made a discovery a while back. I wondered once, where are all the practical day to day motorbikes? Note I said motorbikes. In my mind the two species of two wheeled transport where different beasts. I saw scooters as a rarity for adults. Mostly rode by women going to their nice local part time job. Or by youths on council estates bombing about on aged or Chinese 50cc machines. And then one day watching something or other on TV filmed in a European city I realised there were scooters everywhere, being rode it appeared by everyone, teens, women, men in suits. And then I had a look at some of these scooter in the metal. And though the 50cc are still ironing boards with handle boards the 125cc and above were substantial machines, probably better screwed together and more sophisticated than the 125cc motorbike. Then thought dawned on me, the practical day to day motorbike is the modern scooter. Yes you see them more in warmer climes, but the are practical. And I think that is where the negativity comes into it really. Here in the UK you get a 125cc, perhaps even pass your test, and then live with the reality that a 125cc motorbike is hard work, not very cool, and not very pleasant due to the weather. You decide you need more oomph and the majority go get a car. Only the hardened minority stay with it, and they eventually get a car too. On an average day driving about I will see more scooters than I ever see motorbikes. And if I do see a bike it will be somebody riding for pleasure not transport. And if I see somebody on say a big BMW who is using for a transport you can bet they have a BMW with 4 wheels and a roof back home too. Very, very rare you see an adult who obviously rides all the time. And if you do find such an individual he will be riding something Japanese about 10 years old sans fairing with awkward looking boxy panniers on the back covered in stickers. Simply bikers resent the fact that scooters fit a niche and are popular transport still, while bikes for the most part are toys.

      good I look forward to it. I quite like the fact that you clearly don't like scooters, it adds entertainment value. I'm running a CBF125 at the moment and as much as I think it's a great machine would happily trade it in for the practicality of a scooter, weather protection, storage, ease of use and mechanical simplicity being the key issues but scooters are like moving targets out in the real world. Got to find one that has a bit of presence but can still hit 70. Oh, and has space under the seat for a full face helmet.

    I really enjoy your videos and feel exactly the same about scooters vs motorcycles as you do. I recently, sort of unwillingly, bought a 2013 Chinese 125 scooter from my son for reasons that I won't go into here. The positives, for me anyway: stash space, esp. helmet under the seat and perhaps the price.
    The negatives, comparing it to my son's 2005 Yamaha XTZ125:
    Scrapes the ground when leaning too much.
    10 inch wheels don't inspire confidence for pot-holed roads.
    Short tank range (3L)
    Lacks versitility of off-road capability.
    Not as economical.
    Lacks top speed.

  • @DivergentDroid

    It's Not really about Revving the throttle. When closed just beginning to open the throttle should dump a little more gas into the carb. Lots of people use this while they are traveling to get a small extra boost in acceleration. They just reach speed, cost for a second while they fully close then reopen the throttle. It might sound like they are simply revving the engine but that's not what they are doing.

      naseemleone As my name implies, I have a Chinese scooter (250cc Znen) And while they are not up to the quality of the Japanese, they are far from being "nothing but junk" and for someone with the mechanical ability can be upgraded over time to an amazing degree. For someone like myself who enjoys the work and has the nack, it fits. For others a Honda, Yamaha, or other brand name bike (with dealer servicing) will work out much better.

      @SDeww 6 років тому +1

      the 2 stroke were pretty high rev and took off really nice, but they are now banned were i life and the 4 stroke is a bit more tame!, a little rev does give it a little extra kick in the ass!.
      these 125 scooters, are just 50 cc scooters with a 125 cc piston in them!, right?.
      the 2 first scooters are for city use, the third scooter is for city to city use, cause it is too big for in city use, and if you gonna use it for travelling from city to city than 125 cc sucks, it will be under powered!.

    The same old mistakes? The Scooter is a style of bike it does not define the Engine Size? Most people will have first experience on a 50 cc Moped designed not to exceed 30 MPH. Min age 16. In my days it was a Raleigh Runabout (Motorised Bike with Pedals). After that I went to a Vespa 150 cc Super Sport. Later on it became the 125 cc Scooters and Motor Bikes. Limited to Max 65 MPH Min age 17. Which is why some opt for a Minimum age 17 Motor Car? What you fail to say is that the Honda Silver Wing is a 650 cc Scooter capable of over 100 MPH? Information?

    I am a scooter fan, but these scooters are crap. Made in jungle clearing by a man that goes to work on a buffalo. The issue with these things is they are woefully dated underneath. An 8 bhp air cooled engine in a maxi scooter just will not cut it no matter how sharp it is styled. The other problem is the bikes crop up with different names and company logos, and there is no brand identity or confidence these things will be around in 18 months. The Alex one or whatever it is called is seen masquerading in other markets called other names, even lexmoto have a a very similar looking machine, with a 8bhp air cooled lump! Best spend your 2K on a good used established brand with a modern liquid cooled engine producing much nearer the 15bhp threshold.

    It's not a 1-2-5 it's a one-25, when it comes to a 150 you don't call it a 1-5-0 , do you? I hate that terminology!!!!!

      you misunderstand me. i enjoy your videos. i remember riding learner bikes years ago, and its the fact that you are not experts which lends your content charm. what do you think i have to be jealous of?

    • @motorsforthemasses
      @motorsforthemasses  6 років тому +1

      I apologise if I misunderstood; it was the comment "clueless.:D keep up the bad work" that did not ooze positivity. It is often evidenced by people who make video's then criticise other people. We had one comment a few months ago where a guy said our video was amateur and pathetic; when I watched his video, the audio levels were up and down, wind noise all the time, shaky handheld video....

      i'm not a content creator. nor am i a self professed expert. your videos are fun. it takes me back. my comment was intended to be humorous. . if i want to watch polished videos the internet is full of 25 year old Americans with highlights using studio lighting, , on asound stage,discussing the latest ducatis. the bike shed in London makes hipster videos,but im watching your videos. because its two blokes in a shed.

    This comparison/review isn't particularly helpful if you're actually looking for useful feedback. It comes across as somewhat disrespectful at points when you don't even research how to pronounce the names correctly.... Not wise to state you aren't a fan of scooters either as you are already portraying a biased review which doesn't help anyone wishing to get an insight into it. A quick shot of riding up and down the side road also doesn't help get a good idea of the scooters road performance and abilities. A disappointing review and genuinely useless as a scooter guide

    You want a scooter? Buy Italian. None of this China crap, not Honda which is also made in China these days.
