- Can Jasmine successfully teach Kelly how to make one of her favorite dishes, Yan Su Ji (Taiwanese Street-Style Salt and Pepper Chicken), while only speaking Mandarin? For this cooking challenge Kelly is allowed three life lines: Google it, call Jasmine’s brother and call Jasmine’s mom. Watch to find out how many life lines she ends up using. @@fierazor As a Mandarin speaker I gotta say the words don't sound as similar as you think! Kanji looks similar to Chinese characters, but when spoken out loud there are a lot of differences.
@@alenanela1743 as japanese speaker, i understand what Jasmine said , not when she said the whole sentence tho, but when she repeat the ingredients, what kind of ingredients, spoon , utensils and and how much she need it 😅 the verb sounds completely different tho…

as a deaf person, i think that the deaf person telling the hearing person would be super easy - what are they supposed to do, ban pointing and classifiers? in ASL? i think not. the other way around, though…

I think this is a very versatile recipe: you can fry any kind of meat (or chunks of tofu) with this and use different leafy herbs

Honestly this kind of popcorn chicken doesn’t need it - completely a flavor-bomb on its own.
I feel like a sweet sauce, like honey based, will pair wonderfully with the spices

That's so interesting though! Jasmine calls Five Spice Powder 五种香料 (wu zhong xiang liao) but in Singapore we call it 五香粉 (wu xiang fen). Language is so interesting :))
