With regards to "innocent" kids, I don't recall the two angels and Lot finding some of them. Otherwise, the trio would have done something to save them.
Also, think about the agreement between Abraham and God. Good ole Abe only required God to not destroy the cities if they found 10 good people...I doubt that 9 & 1/2 will even be considered.
@@sarkarsarkar5543 I mean not neccesarily. If a city is so far gone that most of the town forms into a literal violent rape gang at one point it wouldn't be so far to say no children were there.
You also have to consider the fact that tons and tons of insane depraved sex leads inevitably to tons and tons of horrible diseases.
In all likelihood if a coty like that were allowed to "just die off" it would allow for those diseases to spread not to mention leave other areas open to violent rape gang attacks from the city.
This is just me thinking through the issue as a thought experiment. Don't take it too seriously.

I just re-read this story and it hit me that Lot's sons-in-law listened to Lot's warnings but did not escape the city.
What a pity.
They did not believe his message. Lack of trust is not a good sign of good, wholesome, families relations. Perhaps they were not so innocent? Even Lots wife disobeyed the angels and looked back, ending her on the spot, upon that judgment day.
When the End of Days come again, we may do well to remember the details of this story.

We need to start praying and being good citizens to one another. Love and respect is what it is all about.

Actually one interpretation here is that Sarah didn't laugh about the promise for a baby. She laughed with a frisky anticipation to having sex with her husband:
"So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?" (Genesis 18:12)
And the Hebrew is ambiguous as to who she was afraid of. I think she was afraid not of God, but of Abraham. Because Abraham thinks she is laughing at his inability to perform sexually.
But Peter says Sarah had respect for Abraham, calling him 'Lord in her heart" (1 Peter 3:6)
So she was fearful of the miscommunication about the sex not directly about the baby

Lot’s wife looking back is so symbolic of those who get stuck in the past. These are the people who can only think of “the good old days”. Lot’s wife is too attached to the life she had in Sodom and Gomorra that she loses herself.
I also think it’s really cool that God says he won’t destroy the city if he can find 10 righteous. I guess the work of a small minority of good people are all it takes for an entire city doing bad to get away with their sins.

I agree. I’m adopted by my aunt, and she has 2 daughters…one of which is gay. I believe in “love the sinner, hate the sin” and I pray for my cousin, I don’t hate her….but I know being gay is literally a sin, and I told my mom (aunt) that.she gets so defensive and mad at me saying “god will not punish her”. Why she lied in his presence, when she know she laughed.
Abraham also laughed at the fact that he would have a child in his old age but at another point in time. However, he didn’t lie about it. I think the idea of a child at their age simply tickled them.
Though I’ve vacillated for many years over why Sarah lied, I have come to the conclusion after giving it much thought and deliberation with others that maybe Sarah lied about it because she was so desperate for a child she didn’t want God to think she was doggin’ on His gift...that she did laugh but not because of the reason for which she appeared to laugh. So she said she hadn’t laughed when, in reality, she had. But see here now that Abraham had come to know God’s character and that He knew what Abraham was thinking even before he thought it. Sarah had not known God in this way. So Abraham didn’t feel pressed to cover his actions whereas she did.
Note then that Isaac, their promised child in their old age and barrenness, was named “Laughter”; and he married “Liar,” Rebekah’s name meaning. So their offspring/fruit, in essence, became “Deceptive Laughter” or “Satire.” It means “irony, sarcasm, or caustic wit used to attack or expose human foolishness or vice.” And Satire is exactly what God has often employed throughout Scripture with Abraham’s descendants through Isaac and Rebekah.

This is also such a great story on spiritual discernment. Lot and Abraham can see they are angels, but the mob cannot tell that they are angels because the lack spiritual discernment.

This is such a great deep-dive on what is at face value a pretty simple Bible story and I love coming back every now and then to rewatch because I feel like the “days of Lot” are approaching.
I’ve only just recently started reading The Bible and it’s a pretty tough read if you decide to not take everything at surface level. If you take it at face value, it’s not a difficult read but you’ll get confused going from book to book or even chapter to chapter.
@@austinbevis4266 I left to go back and reread scriptures. The Bible is called the living word of God. Sometimes I’ll re-read a book or a chapter later year later we be a few months later and I get a whole new understanding of the scripture. it’s like my eyes are open to another dimension of what God was trying to say. It’s a beautiful thing.

When the punishment becomes inevitable and people are witnesses to their own filthy nature , Lord destroys everyone and everything around the unjust people, including children and animals, like what will happen very soon in real time.

The story seems to show the way that sin stains the soul of those it comes in contact with. Lot's wife was destroyed along with the city for looking back at the sinful life she was leaving behind. Even though Lot and his daughters were able to escape the city, sin follows them and they commit disgusting acts. Though we may remove ourselves from sin, it has a very sticky way of latching onto us.

You let the characters be destinct from one another instead of mixing them up with God which many people do - including myself - when first studying these Hebrew texts in a professional manner. It shows how good you are at reading. This chapter is a rather complex one because it's not just what people do as a whole but also how easily people can fall back on bad habits if they don't learn from their past. The evil that you do will be done to you. Great moral lesson to anyone regardless if you are religious, just spiritual or none.

Hello guys, I’d liked to share my dream with you 🙂
It was night. I was standing out front. As everyone was heading to go inside, I felt a strange sensation throughout my body, shutting it down as I fell. I couldn’t speak or make any voluntary movements. I felt something grab me by my clothes from the back, dragging me into the darkness like a child would drag a large rag doll; legs outstretched and body hunched over. I saw my self crash into the hibiscus fence at the side of the yard, being slightly jacked up as an invisible force tried to drag me through the dense branches. I could feel an overwhelming evil. I was extremely panicked thinking there’s no one to see or help me. My niece walked out facing the road, and for a few seconds I struggled to get her attention but my physical body was still. Then it hit me, I said to my self “nahhhh man Koreen, you should known better!” I felt the fear and panic subsiding and said in my mind Jesus Jesus Jesus. Let me tell you that thing pressed an ejection button and sent me shooting out that dream because the way it got rid of me with quickness 😭🤣🙌🏾. “Jesus be a fence all around me everyday”

I had a dream also. It was a bunch of scary dolls in an altar or something and I felt an overwhelming fear that I wanted to run away. I tried to wake up but I realized I can't because my body is not moving. Like a force was trying to stop me from moving. Then I realized that something was speaking gibberish close to my left ear. There’s a fundamental difference between lots, daughters and the male guests being handed to the townspeople. I've heard it said, in regard to Lot's wife, that the original Hebrew uses a word closer in definition to tarried as opposed to 'looked back'. It was described that she tarried or stayed back to see the fate of the cities. This put her closer to the destruction and as such, she was turned into a pillar of salt by the effects of the cataclysm. I find it interesting to note that piles of salt are all that remained of the victims who were exposed to the Nagasaki and Hiroshima bombs. I believe they have found many dozens upon dozens of piles of salt buried in the ruins of what is believed to be Sodom and Gomorah. Could the destructive force have been some sort of nuclear blast? 🤔 🤷🏼♂️
Another interesting thing is in a verse of Quran, 44/16, God uses a word "batshatoon"(seizing) which is used only twice in that Book and the other place is 54/36 where people of Lot is the topic. Note that chapter 44 is initially talking about a painful smoke which our generation will see and suffer before the greatest "batshatoon" as it is mentioned in 44/16. Not that it increases my chances of salvation but i strongly believe that nuclear bombing day, day of nuclear holocaust wil happen soon after the smoke thing.

Seems like Lot was a good man given the circumstances. The fact that his daughters were virgins in a city like that shows his love/protective nature for his own family. He offerred protection to the Angels because he recognised their hearts, and they in turn recognized his. No comment with regards to the offering of the daughters as that was a huge moral dilemma, should he have offered himself? But then again, he was not as desireable as the Angels.

I think Lot's wife died for one of two reasons. #1 The two angels killed her because they didn't want any solid witnesses that could give a detailed description of what they saw. #2 The technology behind the weapon used actually kills anyone that looks at it. Either for efficiency reasons or for the reason I stated in possibility #1
I highly doubt Lot's wife knew chemical engineering and the difference between pure sulfur and natural sulfur.

Could it be that in looking back, Lot's wife slowed down her running away from the danger of the destruction that she was actually caught up in the heat generated by the fire and brimstone? I know, according to the Genesis account, she was turned into a pilar of salt.....basically cremated.

I have heard the explanation for the daughter's conduct that they thought they were the last people on earth, and the reason they were not punished for it was the law to be "fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth" over rode other laws and moral norms then extant.

Well, to various degrees because obviously people recognized Jesus and were allowed to live. But, essentially seeing God personally means the 4th wall was broken in real time during God’s recording process. Which, also means there’s various ways of seeing God in person. Sometimes he’s behind his camera when you notice him. Other times, his back turned as they say. The wind of his voice coming outta thin air, etc. Essentially, he’s there and not there because you can’t see God in His entirety lest death be involved with the process.
