Readings all the negative comments. We have the doorbell 2 as well as the hard wired security light/camera with talk and siren. We love our Ring products. Maybe because we are in the suburbs there is enough light for the night vision cam to work well? But yeah, we love them. They worked out perfect for us.
Looks like a good bit of kit. Over here in England I’ve got the ring doorbell integrated with our Samsung home hub fridge, we can see who’s ringing the bell and talk to them via the fridge !
Thank you I bought this set last week..couldn't get it to read the code on the box got discouraged put it away..later discovered I was putting in wrong code to connect with my WiFi... dumb dumb. helps to put glasses on. 😁 after watching you I will proceed to install on my front porch with solar panel which looks like a very good Panel. You did a very good job explaining installation tks.
I purchased the Ring Doorbell and I love it! It works exactly the way it says if it is properly hookup correctly. My Ring is hardwired to my doorbell so I don't have to worry about taking it down and charging it. But I do need the stick up cam for my backyard. So I will look into it. Also Ring's customer service is great. When I had a problem with my Ring doorbell, (the battery would not stay charged) they replaced it. I wish they would get Live View for the doorbell.
Thank you for sharing your Ring experience here! Glad that you're #AlwaysHome with Ring. If your Ring is hardwired, you should have access to the Live View feature. Please reach our Community Support team at help@ring.com or 800.656.1918 so that we can enable this feature for you if you don't see it in your Ring app. Our agents are available today from 8am - 6pm PST. We look forward to hearing from you today!
Excellent reivew. My frustration with all of these devices (from all companies) is that they only work with mobile devices. I work at home so I'm always at the computer, but rarely have my iPhone with me so the Ring doorbell or camera are of little use to me.
Love the video. Very informative. Nicely explained. I got a ring door bell. Will be adding a few ring stick up camaras and solar panels...thanks for the video.
To be honest PoE powered camera's are the way to go, they have come down in price significantly, and are only getting easier and easier to install and configure - especially when paired with something like a Synology Surveillance Station compatible NAS
Awesome review!!! I also liked the video where you and your friends are on the back deck. You're again, very professional, and I enjoyed watching this video.
If I owned a house, I'd totally buy this! there's a huge sponsor at TWIT. I wonder why you got so many dislikes with this, this is a great device! even if it's sponsored, still... this is a great device!
The only downfall is the cloud only recording... :-( Having an internal microusb card to store everything would have been nice, reason being is privacy.. all video is being recorded and stored on their hard drives on their servers which means someone at "ring" can potentially see it which im not ok with. So by having an internal microusb card to store everything onto it and you only have access to it makes it better.. This is no different from having cloud storage from any other company... cloud storage is great and all but privacy becomes an issue on my book..
Firste Laste would you have any alternative suggestions , i.e. Something similar including internal USB? Want to get something like this but also have the same concern as you
Shane Morrow I have been searching and have found nothing .. the 2 way audio is great especially when its triggered.. you can speak and warn away the intruder... the only downfall is the cloud only option...
GoodDay Who from Ring needs to watch me…?? obviously you don’t think there are sick people out there .. and all people are innocent and would NEVER do anything like that.. I have many friends and relatives that are in the IT field and all of them say if this is CLOUD based then they have full access to get into the camera and watch live 24/7 as long as that battery is charged.. Yes they may have a strict privacy policy but who is to say that JIM BOB decides to forget about that policy and decides to start looking at these Ring cameras and watching whatever or whoever is on the other side.. Let alone our government getting access into these cameras because one your camera is LIVE on-line with cloud based access, they can also get in… That shit is creepy, nasty and disgusting and i don’t want any part of ANY cloud based storage.. You can feel safe and snug with this cloud based crap because they have strict privacy policy that makes you feel warm and better inside.. NOT THIS PERSON
I wanted to give a heads up to people who may be thinking of getting this. Amazon currently has a set of 2 Ring stickup cams WITH the solar panels included for $299. A pretty good deal, I couldn't pass it up :)
I installed first one today. hardest part was getting it clipped into the base. I hade to play with the screws holding plate to get it in place but did. remember don't throw away the screw driver that comes with doorbell, you will need it later
Fantastic video and video editing you made it quick and painless to get the information needed, all while being entertaining. I am comparing this with Dropcam Pro or now Nest. What I like about Nest is that they are always recording and lets you know when you have motion. That way you get a full before and after video and not just a 10-30sec video that doesn't get everything as with Arlo Camera. With Arlo the motion detection is ok from up close but not from very far away. Again the Nest Cameras excel in this area to but they are always plugged in and always recording. With the Ring Stick up camera how quickly does it begin recording (do you miss much) and how far away does it pick up? Thank you!!
great reviews. Keep up the good work. So, I want to install some security around the house. Which do you like better the nest outdoor cam, The stick up Ring cam, or?? Have you ever talked to Nest about using solar panel on their cameras.?
Very good high quality video you have on this video. Could you share the type of camera you used, please ?. It's not common to get such quality in most videos on the internet. Thanks.
Just an FYI- This item can not be installed in any area where it will be rained on, in direct sunlight or exposed to humidity, which will make it useless for a lot of applications (A house that faces North or South and you want side coverage). It says this in the fine print at the end of the installation guide.
Hi Drew, Stick Up Cam is an outdoor, weather-resistant camera crafted to handle all the various weather elements. You can install it outside around your home to watch over vulnerable areas beyond the front door, such as the side alley or even the backyard. While keeping in mind that the device's operating temperature is -5 ºF to 120 ºF, we have customers who have installed Stick Up Cam in different locations and environments all over the world. If your Stick Up Cam is affected by weather in any form, we'll replace it for free!
Could you please tell me how long the video clip run for, once tripped? and could you talk more about security camera, does it take still pictures? thanks
I have ordered a door bell and see they guarantee to replace it if it is nicked, but the camera I see can easily be taken no matter which way you mount it? Also is it rain proof?
Yeah, with the Stick Up Cam I think it would be much easier to grab, but they guarantee they'll replace it as well, if I remember correctly. With the screw in mount (not the one I used in this video) it might be a bit more secure. And yes, rain proof. Between the start/end of this video, it rained 3-4 times at least, and the camera got wet, and no issues. As long as you use a waterproof cable (the shielded one like I used in this video) to keep the port safe, it should be good.
Initially I thought the stick up cam needed to be plugged into the solar panel of recharge it every so often but in this video, am I understanding that the cam could be plugged into an exterior wall outlet for constant power using the usb cable with an outlet adapter? Any feedback on this would be great. Thanks
Awesome video, question on the floodlight cams, can you give some tips on how your wired it, I am planning to put it slightly above my garage, brick wall. Would that be possible? How do you manage the alerts that are caused when you are going in and out of the garage, pulling up into the driveway in car, kinds of stuff. Thanks again for this helpful video.
Great review. would like to know if it might work on my dock to keep an eye on boat. Already have the ring doorbell. Looking to see how far out I can go. Thanks again for a great review.
The Ring Stick up cam and the Ring video doorbell are independent units ; no dependency on another Ring product being present, both can work on their own or together if you have multiple units.
Thanks for the review! My only question is @Jordan Keyes, does it seem like someone could easily walk up and steal the camera with the quick release? Or how about walking up and smashing it? Given they would probably cover their face to not be recorded, I just wonder how secure the camera is from being stolen or damaged.
So I just bought this today and have set it up, however, the Live View option isn't in the menu at all like you had shown in the video. Any idea why this could be?
It's possible they haven't rolled the feature out to everyone quite yet. It was brand new while I was reviewing the device. It should be coming soon if you don't have it already, though. Actually, are you on iOS or Android? I seem to remember them saying the new Live View menu was coming to Android soon, but was out on iOS, which is why I showed it on the iPhone.
+Jordan Keyes I have Android. I ended up calling them today and they said it should be enabled but they had to fix something on their end. Once they enabled it on their end I had the button available instantly. Thanks for the help!
Is the solar panel optional. I had prefer to bring in and charge as you do with the doorbell. Or do the Stick Ups drain a ton more battery than the doorbell?? Thanks - Smile More :)
PLEASE Ring did not have an answer unless I use a phone first Im old school and dont have one How do I connect my windows 10 too my stick up cam so I can view thru my pc ? Please and Thankyou
Question. When the option live view is active, for how long the camera will record video? seconds, minutes, unlimited??? Also, to review or download this recordings it would be for free or is there a subscription to Ring? Thanks in advance!
I have very little door bell space for the Ring door bell or Ring Pro. Can I use Ring Stick Up Cam for the front door entrance? Instead of the ring door bell options. The Stick Up Cam has 2 way Audio.
does anyone know if ring will replace it if anyone steals it? since you are just CLICKING it on the the wall and now really drilling it down like the ring door bell
from support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/211898103-Positioning-Stick-Up-Cam: "Remember that your Stick Up Cam is covered by our Lifetime Theft Protection. If your Stick Up Cam is ever stolen, we'll replace it for free."
First one I got was bad out of the box. Second one wont pick up people untill they're on my doorstep. And sometimes not at all. Followed mounting instructions to the letter. Also live view barely ever works. My home network is pulling 230mbps/13mbps and my cellular network is pulling 55mbps/10mbps. Someone from ring is supposed to call me to troubleshoot and look at my account to see. Im not very hopeful.
I am trying to put one of these at my wifes barn which is about 900 feet from our house, while no one mentions how the wireless feature works...should I assume it ties into the normal wireless routers a person has in their home, or does it connect some way that would allow it to run on its own at her barn.
Jim Prius - You will need to purchase the "WiFi Extender". It is a box that you'd need to plug in somewhere between your wireless router and your wife's barn camera. If the camera is too far from your wireless internet router, it's supposed to help bridge the gap in the connection. You'd probably have to see if it would reach. Maybe call RING and ask them.
Thanks Megan, I don't have a comfortable power source mid way. I am currently using a wireless camera who's range is just about maxed out..works most of the time but now and again just goes blank. I did like the idea of having a notification system on the camera. I will see about contacting Ring...and see what they have to say. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Jim
I don't get how these actually connect together. If you live in an area with a bunch of open Wireless Networks, the camera has to somehow be programmed beforehand to know what network to join. I have a new Roku stick that will have you CONNECT to it via your cellphone and it will grab the login credentials. But this doesn't really say how they connect.
Well. it sure was not easy for me to set up. I have a Nexus 5x. The app for the stickup cam could not accept my location, yet I have no issues with Google Maps and Location is on with high accuracy. It kept wanting to put me in some place like Alabama and I live 2000 miles away. I put my address in, yet there was no way to get it to "accept" my address. When I lied about the address it could not connect to my wifi even though my two tv's, cell phones, computers, and tablets work just fine. My router even has 2gHZ and 5gHz. I tried 6 times. The app also has issues with my password! I can log on to Ring on my two computers with no issues, yet the app keeps telling me ...you get the point. Maybe I got a bad one, but I find that hard to believe because everything in the box looked perfect. ...I'm going to try again tomorrow after I get a 120% charge on this thing. If it does not work, I shall call the company. If it still does not work, it goes back to Home Depot for a full refund. I agree with this movie that it sure looks simple to set up. It is an elegant device. If I have one reservation... what is to stop someone from just reaching up and stealing it! It is not exactly welded to the house.
i have installed 5 ring doorbells and can say with confidence they suck. i had to make at least 2 trips sometimes 4 back to the customers house and several calls to tech support, bad programing on 2 of them, and weather on the rest.the stick up cam is terrible, the techs own words "havent got all the bugs worked out" and yet they still sell it. it is, DECEPTIVE in advertising, its not a motion detector, it detectes body heat, if you live in a cold region IT WILL NOT WORK!!!!
Readings all the negative comments. We have the doorbell 2 as well as the hard wired security light/camera with talk and siren. We love our Ring products. Picture is crooked in the background.. my OCD is in overdrive.
stick up cam not the best name but good product thank you
HAHA

Looks really cool. I would like to get this for a little more peace of mind for my family.
It's a great piece of equipment had mine on for a day and amazed how it works very very pleased and well worth the money.
Thanks for giving the pricing so we know what to expect before we go to the Ring site.
excellent instructions on physical install. my issue is my Verizon FIOS connection (router) won't sync.
Great review. I get my door bell, two cams and two solar cells next Wednesday! Looking forward to it!
Thrilled to welcome you into our Ring family! Happy installing :) #AlwaysHome
I'm gonna get ring based on your review, thank you for the very detailed review
Awesome review!!! I also liked the video where you and your friends are on the back deck. You're again, very professional, and I enjoyed watching this video.
My question is, what is the drain on your WiFi? Are you noticing diminishing speeds with this connected to it?
If I owned a house, I'd totally buy this! there's a huge sponsor at TWIT. I wonder why you got so many dislikes with this, this is a great device! even if it's sponsored, still... this is a great device!
he got 3 dislikes
Kolby s I saw 16 yesterday. compared to 40 something likes. Maybe it's a youtube glitch.
Probably
Works great in apartments. You can see who's in your hallways.
Keep up the great work with the videos! I love them!

Seems p. neat. I have some Foscams that have two-way audio and they were only around $60 each, but I can't say that I've ever needed to use it.
Best replacement for old floodlight
I wanted to give a heads up to people who may be thinking of getting this. Amazon currently has a set of 2 Ring stickup cams WITH the solar panels included for $299. A pretty good deal, I couldn't pass it up :)
Great video and review which answered my questions regarding this new Ring accessory. Thanks and I have subscribed because r/t quality videos.
Lots of good info., Thanks! ( I wanted to know how long the solar panel cable was - 12 feet).
Where can I find one of these? Love my doorbell 2 and need something for the back of my house.
I installed first one today. hardest part was getting it clipped into the base. I hade to play with the screws holding plate to get it in place but did. remember don't throw away the screw driver that comes with doorbell, you will need it later
when your power wifi goes down this all goes down sadly
anyone who has owned solar lights knows solar panels don't last, they fail
Thank you I have been looking for a good detail video on the ring products so that you

Ring Then, why the small print on your own instructions warning against such applications?
Review the ring floodlight cam! I love it.
Extremely one of the best reviews on a product. Thank you. You gave a great neutral and factual review.
Is there a light that is triggered by the motion detector? I agree with you that the night image is pretty good. How did that work?
Could you please tell me how long the video clip run for, once tripped? and could you talk more about security camera, does it take still pictures? thanks
i think the chime needs to be free. it seems so half ass without it.
Lennox1492 Just wire it to your existing doorbell
Ahhhh I can attach this to my existing doorbell it doesn't have to completely replace it?
Yes you can, and it will constantly power/charge your ring doorbell.
Lennox1492 or just have it linked to Alexa
Have to use usb?..no direct power hook hook up like the doorbell? Good weather resistance??
Not backed if stolen?
I have the ring door bell and it takes a while for the live video to load
I have ordered a door bell and see they guarantee to replace it if it is nicked, but the camera I see can easily be taken no matter which way you mount it?

Yeah, with the Stick Up Cam I think it would be much easier to grab, but they guarantee they'll replace it as well, if I remember correctly. With the screw in mount (not the one I used in this video) it might be a bit more secure.

+Jordan Keyes thank you Jordan. I wish they were a bit more wide angle, perhaps 120deg
Ring will replace the unit if stolen provided you submit a police report to them.
awsome i am buying it today.
Great review. Simple, clear and concise. Thank you!
Love my gen 3 stickup
It the 15ft uSB included in the stick up cam or we have to buy it separate and where to buy it.
Why do you have a 12' waterproof cable in your box but every other reviewer I've seen doesn't?
Does the stick-up cam allow you to view infrared in live view? Or does the infrared only operate with motion detection?
I like that shirt! Where all the Roman Soldiers at???
I too am a Gladiator 😛
Great review. would like to know if it might work on my dock to keep an eye on boat. Already have the ring doorbell. Looking to see how far out I can go. Thanks again for a great review.
As long as your home wifi network can reach out there, it should work.
I get a glare from the sun from the Ring Doorbell, do you know how to fix that?
You may have already answered this: must one have the ring video doorbell in order for this cam to work?
The Ring Stick up cam and the Ring video doorbell are independent units ; no dependency on another Ring product being present, both can work on their own or together if you have multiple units.
Thanks for the review! My only question is @Jordan Keyes, does it seem like someone could easily walk up and steal the camera with the quick release? Or how about walking up and smashing it? Given they would probably cover their face to not be recorded, I just wonder how secure the camera is from being stolen or damaged.
Does it still upload to their cloud for viewing and is that only on motion?
Can you adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection on the stick up cam?
We need to have a solar panel for the ring doorbell. Not just for the stick up cam.
Do you have to pay for the cloud services multiple time for each ring device?
can you use the stickup cam without buying the main doorbell?
Yes.
so since you already have a ring doorbell, are you going to do a giveaway for the one they sent? like, give it away to me? 😉

Excellent! Glad you were able to get it working. Have a great day!
tremendous review - much thanks...please keep up the great work!
Is the solar panel optional. I had prefer to bring in and charge as you do with the doorbell. Or do the Stick Ups drain a ton more battery than the doorbell?? Thanks - Smile More :)
yes
PLEASE Ring did not have an answer unless I use a phone first Im old school and dont have one How do I connect my windows 10 too my stick up cam so I can view thru my pc ? Please and Thankyou
So how far apart can it be from the wifi?
Just can not find the settings for the solar panel on my app. I don’t d try everything
Do you need to upgrade to premium for two way use.
Does anyone know if you can check out footage and or live feed on your computer instead of the phone?
Is there a monthly charge for the stick up camera
what charge do u pay?? thought once I paid for it that's it as gonna buy one next month
Hope you can answer my question. Can you use a used ring stick cam? Previously owned.
As long as not reported stolen, the answer is yes, just make sure you reset it with your info.
Great review. Thanks for the effort you put into it.
Hey Thanks Craig, It works great. Internet a little laggy but I think its my service not the Ring Stick Up Cam.
i purchased a Ring Stick up Cam - it didn't come with a 12 foot USB cable as you show.. where did you get the cable?
Hi Lowen, would you kindly reach me directly at yul@ring.com so that I can assist you further? Thank you!
Jordan Keyes. I tried the Promo Code you gave in the last video and it did not work. I know it was a year ago. Is there another promo code I can use
does anyone know if ring will replace it if anyone steals it? since you are just CLICKING it on the the wall and now really drilling it down like the ring door bell
from support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/211898103-Positioning-Stick-Up-Cam:
"Remember that your Stick Up Cam is covered by our Lifetime Theft Protection. If your Stick Up Cam is ever stolen, we'll replace it for free."
Hi Jordan, could this be added onto the cloud service for the doorbell or is it another $3 per camera? thanks.
Will the solar panel charge your cellphone? ?
tom ee probably it will but only on Android
My Wifi is spotty outside... Is there an Ethernet option?
Do you know if this connects to the Wink hub?
Does anyone know if someone can talk to you through the cam? Can my kids reach me through the cam?
Why do i have to pay for a membership for this?

What are you going doing with the extra ring doorbell
My dad snatched it up, and we just installed it at his house this weekend.
Jordan Keyes did he set up his ring Video doorbell
I am trying to put one of these at my wifes barn which is about 900 feet from our house, while no one mentions how the wireless feature works...should I assume it ties into the normal wireless routers a person has in their home, or does it connect some way that would allow it to run on its own at her barn.

I did like the idea of having a notification system on the camera. I will see about contacting Ring...and see what they have to say. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Jim
Jim Prius - I forgot to mention the "WiFi Extender" is RING product as well for that sort of problem.
Can it record to local storage, like a NAS or has FTP function?
Actually it is, you can download the video onto your smartphone/tablet.
What happens if intruder cuts your internet cable and there is no Wi-Fi?
The same thing that happens if you have any security system, it gets disabled.
All I HAVE IS FUCKEN PROBLEMS
If that happens, you can rest assured you are in a Lifetime/LMN movie.
Well. it sure was not easy for me to set up.
Great quality film! Tacksharp
I like your reviews. Just subscribed to you sir 😊.
This is a great review.
very informative, thanks
What's the night vision like on this? Thank you.
Excellent...
Its like a dashcam, with WADR (Wide angle dynamic range), its pretty bad, since there are no IR's providing lighting.
i have installed 5 ring doorbells and can say with confidence they suck. i had to make at least 2 trips sometimes 4 back to the customers house and several calls to tech support, bad programing on 2 of them, and weather on the rest.the stick up cam is terrible, the techs own words "havent got all the bugs worked out" and yet they still sell it. it is, DECEPTIVE in advertising, its not a motion detector, it detectes body heat, if you live in a cold region IT WILL NOT WORK!!!!
I have had the same one for 2 years with no problems.
Omg your shirt 👌🏼👏🏼
I've got 3. :)
Jordan Keyes I love Roman Atwood
Can you have more than one phone synced at a time?
Yes, I regularly have several phones connected to my Ring.com account, and they all get notifications.
Stick Up Cam - seems to be no longer supported. SO good luck. cause it never worked like it was said to be.
@Jordan Keyes Awesome review video👍
