The Brown Bomber's best days were in the 30s. Marciano historically overrated as he would not be able to compete with fighters from the 60s on up. Not his fault, he was really a blown up light heavy/cruiserweight
Big deal Rocky, Louis was already an old man at the time. Look at the bald spot on top of his head. This was a mismatch because of the age difference. Marciano should have been ashamed.
Marciano wasn't that young he was 27 which is quite old for a heavyweight Plus he'd only been boxing seriously for 2 years. And Louis had 30 lbs extra, a string on 8 good victories, and much better reach. And he was taller
@@MrMatt44000 27 is fully prime. Louis' 8 string of wins came against unremarkable opponents. He couldn't knock out Cesar Brion and Omelio Agramonte in 20 rounds against each of them. There is no fighter who went 20 rounds in two fights against pre 1950s Louis. Not a single one.

@@MrMatt44000 Bivins wasn't rated when Louis fought him. He'd only rate once more at number 10 the next year and then never appear in the rankings again. Bivins was practically finished. Of course he was favored to beat a somewhat unproven Marciano. However, the fact that he was favored as at odds of 6-5, a very slim margin, shows that even his contemporaries knew how far gone he was. Boxing experts, reporters and writers had already remarked as to how diminished Louis was and many urged him to retire. 27 is athletic prime btw. There are outliers who age faster but we're talking about men who started fighting at 12 or 14 years old, not guys who started at 23. At 27 Rocky was 3 years into his pro boxing career. In the same time frame Louis, Ali, Tyson and Patterson had won the heavyweight title. "Apart from age, Louis had so much on his side" So, to rephrase that: "Apart from a lack of reflexes, footspeed, hand speed, stamina, power, combinations accuracy, durability, being 10 years away from the last time he was prime in 1942 and generally being washed up, Louis had so much going for him. Did you see how awesome he looked when he couldn't knockout the never-ranked Omelio Agramonte in two fights?" Do you see how you sound like now? Maybe, maybe not. Marciano certainly had a better record and was more dominant during his respective era. He was 49 -0 with 43 KOs. Tyson was knocked out 5 times and was not even the best of his own era. Yes, maybe Louis wasn't in his prime but that is something that can't be controlled. By the way, Louis was the odds on favorite to win that fight
Don't blame Rocky's fight picks. Read some history. If you, your manager or your middleman didn't kiss Frankie Carbo's Mafia ass, you did not get fights that would keep you alive or move you up the ladder.

Marciano is over hyped, but then again so is Louis; he held the title for so long because of WWII and a shortage of decent opposition; look up his record. Thank you the bank hasn't processed it yet apparently but the power company was correct.
A 37 year old vs a 28 year old. Marciano was just too young and tough
Joe Louis in his prime would have beaten Marciano. Louis here was well past his best.
he would have beat rock into a pebble
Lois was really way, way past his prime by then, poor guy...
The Brown Bomber's best days were in the 30s. Marciano historically overrated as he would not be able to compete with fighters from the 60s on up. Not his fault, he was really a blown up light heavy/cruiserweight
Joe Louis was 177yrs old😅
Big deal Rocky, Louis was already an old man at the time. Look at the bald spot on top of his head. This was a mismatch because of the age difference. Marciano should have been ashamed.
Joe, only did it to pay off the I.R.S😢😢😢😢
Rocky 28 vs Louis 37,
Joe, way beyond his prime, was not a match for a young Rocky Marciano. $$$
Marciano wasn't that young he was 27 which is quite old for a heavyweight
Plus he'd only been boxing seriously for 2 years.
@@Pedro_Le_Chef he just beat the hall of fame legend Jimmy Bivins. He had gone the distance with Charles 9 fights earlier in a title bout. Joe was not washed up and he was the bookie favourite to beat Marciano. The whole crowd was silent and stunned when Louis was KOed.
27 is quite old for a heavyweight and Marciano had only been pro for 2 years after hardly any amateur experience. He started really old as a heavyweight. Name me one other heavyweight legend who started at 25 and achieved anything close to what Marciano achieved. Apart from age, Joe had so much on his side
@@MrMatt44000 Bivins wasn't rated when Louis fought him. He'd only rate once more at number 10 the next year and then never appear in the rankings again. Bivins was practically finished. His prime years were 1941-1945, long time before Louis fought him.
Louis was a bookie favorite for all his fights, from 1934 all the way to 1951.
"Apart from age, Louis had so much on his side"
So, to rephrase that:
"Apart from a lack of reflexes, footspeed, hand speed, stamina, power, combinations accuracy, durability, being 10 years away from the last time he was prime in 1942 and generally being washed up, Louis had so much going for him. Did you see how awesome he looked when he couldn't knockout the never-ranked Omelio Agramonte in two fights?"
Do you see how you sound like now?
Btw, I made a long comment obliterating your response about Walcott being prime in our other discussion but UA-cam hid it. I'll try reposting, and I hope they won't hide this one.
joe was not even close to his prime most of Rocky's opponents were over 35
"He beat Joe Louis' a$$".
...
😶
Louis was an old man would have killed him in his prime
Odönemdeki insanlara seyircilere bakarmısınız hepsi kıravatlı
Jamás marciano le habría ganado a Joe Louis en el año 40 cuando estaba en su mejor momento está pelea es del año 51 estando viejo y acabado
THE BEST BUT LITTLE RECOGNITION BECAUSE OF AMERICAS DISCRIMINATION AGAINST ITALIAN AMERICANS....
The Rock sure can fight against boxers over 40.😅
How old was Joe Louis?
37yrs, old rocky was 27 yrs. old.
Rocky the dirtiest boxer ever. Would hardly get through a fight these days without being disqualified
Какой же примитивный бокс был раньше.
Rocky used his head as a third weapon, cheat
Doesn’t even look like boxing
No argument....ROCKY is the greatest 💪💪💪💪💪
What a terrible editing...
Joe Lewis was 42 years old when he fought Rocky Marciano. What would of happen if he fought him in 1938 instead of 1952 Joe Lewis held the championship for 12 years. Marciano held it for one year
No, 37.
What would have happened if your dad never met your mom...
happened*
Marciano held it for 3 years.....why do you feel the need to lie so much?
Joe Louis was too old. it was a return after retire
“Joe Louis was 75 years old when they fought!”
“I don’t know how old he was, but he got his @$$ whooped”
@@steveniemyer9288 😆
Not true he was 96 , 75 was his son !
@@steveniemyer9288 But the guy was already 38 years old, I believe. He was already way past his prime. Even the 38-year old Muhammad Ali, as great as he was during his heyday, got his @$$ whooped by Larry Holmes when he should've hung his boxing gloves & trunks for good.
“F you….F you…. and F you. Who’s next?”
😂😂👌
boxe affreuse ! c'est de la lutte
I'm just not impressed. I never particularily liked Muhamed Ali, but he was good. And some of the boxers from the 80's were better.
Think whatever you want. Marciano fought them all in his era and never lost. Nothing will ever change that fact.
Marciano was a COWARD. Beat up an old man. Why did he duck Liston? coward!
Just stirring up the stew, I see.
@@SilverDreamer62 facts bother you? If he fought Liston, he still would have been YOUNGER than Joe was when he fought Marciano. He was a coward who fought old men. Liston would have knocked him out in 2 rounds
If he fought Liston he would have been KNOCKED OUT. Coward
Tyson would have put Marciano in a body bag.
Respect your view I was big on tyson still am. But could he have stood toe to toe with rock frazier or liston maybe not. But we'll never know damn shame
@@DavidChapman-hu2eq oh that's a fight id have sold the house to watch Frazer against Tyson in there prime
Really ?
Maybe, maybe not. Marciano certainly had a better record and was more dominant during his respective era. He was 49 -0 with 43 KOs. Tyson was knocked out 5 times and was not even the best of his own era. Other than a win over an older Larry Holmes who was out of action for a couple a years, Tyson beat no all-time great heavyweights. Most of his fabulous KOs are against fighters nobody can name.
@@becker54 You're saying Mike Tyson was not the best in his era? Just...wow. No dude; respectfully, when Tyson was in his prime there was no one even close.
It looks fake.
Liston..Ali..Foreman...Holifield...Tyson......all the would have beaten Rocky Marciano....
Joe Louis was Broke & about 45 plus Boxing was ran by Italians that had this BS fixed!
Frankie Carbo #1 on that list.
So Marciano beat an old, totally past his prime Louis, big deal! Marciano went 49-0 against old fighters.
In 1950 'old' Joe Louis was the number 1 contender. This fight was 1951. Louis still had enough in the tank to bring it until Marciano wore him out in the later rounds. Yes, maybe Louis wasn't in his prime but that is something that can't be controlled. By the way, Louis was the odds on favorite to win that fight
@@HK-ou2ir
Don't blame Rocky's fight picks. Read some history. If you, your manager or your middleman didn't kiss Frankie Carbo's Mafia ass, you did not get fights that would keep you alive or move you up the ladder.
@@HK-ou2ir Your assessment is mostly fair but Louis was not all that highly regarded in '51. As for him being a favorite, there was never a fight in which Louis wasn't the favorite going in, not once, ever. He was even favored to beat Charles. The fact that he was only a 6-5 favorite over the up and coming Marciano speaks volumes.
Marciano is over hyped, but then again so is Louis; he held the title for so long because of WWII and a shortage of decent opposition; look up his record.
Schmeling gave him a spanking, as did Walcott, no great shakes as a boxer( and worse as a ref! ) but on the wrong end of a dreadful decision, and Conn, a light heavy, had him beaten hands down but for the rush of blood to his Irish head. Could you imagine Ali or Liston losing to that trio?
Flatfooted and pedestrian.
