RIP Jerry Fuchs. His drumming made a huge impact on me -- what a real drummer can be capable of in electronic music. This was the first and only time I got to see him perform live. I took video of them on my shitty digicam just to have some clips of his playing.
Damn it, you are so right. I had no idea he'd gotten the microKorg. I presumed he was using a favored, older analog synth, but I guess it makes sense to use the microKorg, especially when on the road; lighter, smaller, easy to replace or inexpensive enough so he can buy two, and no more worries about banging up his vintage gear. Thanks for pointing that out.
It's a Theremin, an early electronic musical instrument. It is played without actually being touched. Typically consists of two metal antennas which sense the position of the player's hands and control oscillators for frequency with one hand, and amplitude (volume) with the other. Available through several manufacturers: Moog Music, Theremaniacs, Harrison Instruments.
