we're the only country which has plans to make seven aircrafts, AMCA, AMCA Mk2, TedbF, ORCA, Tejas mk1a, Tejas Mk, Marut 2 but has developed none.
Likely sequence of events:
1. PAF gets a fifth gen fighter by 2029-30
2. IAF, GoI panics and goes for F35.
3. IAF acquires 2 squadron of JSF. No budget left for AMCA.
4. Squadron strength drops further. In panic goes for more Rafales.
Curtains down on Tejas, ORCA, TEDBF.

I think MRFA is so delayed, I wish it gets scrapped and ORCAs come up, coz ORCA/TEDBF is BETTER than RAFALE (it's stealthier, and more advanced, plus better stealth design, it can be like, somewhere between AMCA and LCA/MWF)
Btw if MRFA is done ORCA won't be taken in, but yeah TEDBF for Navy will be inducted in almost 100-200 numbers for sure

India has s400 it will send information to russia. Usa won't give f35.
It's 110 million usd base version a unit that means it will cost more than 22 billion USD with support software integration and weapons as total and I don't think Indian government will spend so much on just 3 squadrons

CCS will approve funds for AMCA only after DRDO and ADA prove that they are successful in conducting the first flight of tejas mk2. So, most likely in 2025.

The reality is that only few regions of India are exposed to areas of potential armed conflicts so for most of India, defence is not such a big priority. Being a democracy, at the end of the day, we are left with a very small budget and most importantly a very small politcal capital to invest in defence.
India really needs some partners for the AMCA project, especially a country from the GCC who has been rejected from the f35 plan and knows they cant buy American or Korean 5th gen fighters.
Someone who has the money but not the ability to make 5th gen fighters. India on its own cannot make Tejas mk2, Deck based fighter and a good 5th gen fighter aircraft as a similar size economy - France with 90 years of fighter jet experience makes only 1 and their 5th gen program is in coordination with other rich nations.
I agree that fighter jets have different roles and different responsibilities, but if you're not a 20 trillion dollar economy, you have to also keep in mind the size of your wallet.
A poor family does not have 5 air conditioners for 5 rooms even if its the requirement.
India really needs to make tejas mk2 and AMCA the sole projects for them. Even TEDBF doesnt make sense as India on its own will never have the volume required to make the project successful.

India has to get its act together. The only way to solve this situation is to bring the AMCA program directly under PMO like ISRO and missile program is. India simply lacks the military-industrial complex to come up with projects like this. It's very ad-hoc.

Going with the images of kaan it has external hard points. So it will be easily detected by radars. It might have a bit of stealth but it sure will be detected on radar.

The way this CCS approval is being handled and funding is released is quite incorrect. Instead of thinking of the AMCA as a monolithic project with design + prototype + production and a total budget in the tens of billions of $, they should be thinking about it through the technological sub-projects on which there is no time to waste, like stealth design, serpentine intakes, fifth generation avionics - those projects must be kept in continuous development with a smaller budgets of 10-50 million etc. The design and development process itself should never stop.
AMCA? What about LCA1A and LCA2? Both are still on paper. Too much hot air and not enough masala.
I think best option for india buy additional 36 radale 40 F 35 and work on AMCA as well

Dunno how much of our national security still concerns our policy-makers but the pace of handling things frustrates me. We're talking about a development budget, not a scale production order. F-35 took 25 years to develop, J20 around 17, well further development is still happening. The hell they think DRDO is, freaking Domino's that it'd deliver in 30 mins? Why hold off funds for something that has to be approved anyway?

I have been hearing about AMCA in design phase when i completed my graduation and in search of job in 2010 and still it in design phase in 2023 why is this no government in India is serious about research and development, their main aim is to win next election from day one and R&D is the least to give them votes, fortunately Indians have the ability to produce results from very small amount of money, even then they failed to provide small capital for AMCA from 10 years
