More details in the description would helpful. For example, how do you maintain moisture over the weeks, and how do you determine the right amount of moisture?
@@lolsadboi1238 Its a good idea to keep it covered and sealed to make sure that the moisture doesnt escape and to prevent other bugs going in the substrate.
Thanks for the tips, fan from Taiwan. Do the pellets expend a lot after mixed with water? I wonder how much volume of product can u make from 10kg of pellets. Thanks for reply!
my flake soil looks and smells great but I discovered that there were fungus gnats in it? I left them outside in breatheable bags... anyone else has this problem? How to overcome this?
Why not just figure out exactly how much water is needed per kilo. Measure it all out, dissolve the yeast in the luke warm water (not above bodytemp) and mix? What kind of yeast do you use?
You use the outside in wich months of the year? Because i heard that it is required at least 25 degrees celsius for the reaction to start, i was wondering if it was really necessary
I'm moldveien from the forum thanks for the video, I just ordered a 9kg bag of traeger oak pellets, it was 40 usd with shipping, 20lbs if you preffer american units. Pellet grills are new in norway so only 2 places i have found sells it, hoping local stores will pick it up.
there's tons of ways to make it and to each their own but I like the 9 to 1 cause it just saves more product also I like buying 40 pound bags instead of the 20 bags. same price but double product

spray once a week untill moist but not soaking wet
Gemma Burke Do you keep it covered?

This is an outdated guide, check out my new one. ua-cam.com/video/_RvKi89-J4g/v-deo.html
Do you have to maintain the moisture in the substrate? Should the container be completely covered so the moisture doesn't evaporate out of the sub?
You don't always need to add flour to expanded oak pellets. For a more thorough fermentation you can use wheat bran.
Yep, check out this other video I made.

How long is this good for? Like, can I keep it in a bucket for a few months?

Are the buckets covered in the fermentation process? lid with holes? or hermetic closed?

Keep inside instead of outside. Also microwaving or freezing can help prior to exposing beetles to your bugged out substrate.
Can this work for adults?
Can u use oats instead of bran/flour
Yes
Can you recommend a "breathable bag" to use for this? I know you have said it's better but I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that.
woven polypropylene bags seems like a good choice for breathable storage
I added 0.5 pound of flour and 0.5 pound of wheat bran. Is that alright?
No clue, never used that method.

So when I did this I had mold growth after a few days. Any thoughts? My mix wasn't very moist either.
Jeremy Martin just gotta keep mixing. Use breathable bags if you could.
Don't you use any sort of heating at all to help the fermentation ?
I use the outside. You could always bring it inside when it gets cold but it starts to stink.

Out of curiosity are you ratmosphere on beetleforum?
Yes!
I guessed so, skateboarding + beetles.

ratio is supposed to be 9 to 1

Dev V. Thanks man. btw , how long can u keep these flake soils until it gone bad?
Good informations but sadly the video Is to much fast. Impossible normal read. To much stress.
