I'd love it if they'd release some of the Season 5-6 episodes. For some reason these have never been released on any of the TV packages that have come out, except for a VERY SHORT time on Pluto TV.
American Gladiators is my childhood! Congratulations on 10,000 subscribers! Season 4 is awesome just like the previous seasons! I can’t wait to see season 5 and 6!👊🏾👊🏾🇺🇸🇺🇸
Season 3 of American Gladiators was probably the best season the show had. Season 4 on the other hand had a lot of problems. I wouldn't say it is a bad season but it is one of the weaker ones. First of all was the gladiators themselves. The classic ones Nitro, Gemini, Thunder, Blaze, Gold, Lace, and Ice were gone and there was a revolving door at times. Lace #2 was on two episodes and also one special, Atlas was only seen on one special, Cyclone showed some potential before disappearing, and Havoc was just bad. Also it is worth mentioning that the grand championship only had three men Gladiators. Second was the increase to 7 events plus the Eliminator. It was just too much and the editing shows it. Thankfully season 5 they figured out how to get 7 events per show by having a men's only and women's only event per show. Third was the nerfing for the Gladiators. The Gladiators Joust platform was greatly reduced. Conquer went to having 15 seconds. Mid-season Swingshot went from 3 to 2 Gladiators and Assault switched the Pistol and crossbow, and a 15 second head start was tried on the Wall. Plus Human Cannonball returned and it was the event that Gladiators had the biggest disadvantage. Fourth was the new events were weak. Skytrack looked cool the first couple of times but it pretty much was a race for second. Super Powerball was a trainwreck and just set itself up for injuries and nearly every time it was used there was an injury stoppage. With that being said there were a few good things. As part of the Assault nerfing the silly pump gun was replaced by the hand grenades. After a couple of seasons of being played rarely Breakthrough and Conquer got used a lot more. Turbo returned and Storm was very tough. Also you had Viper, yes he was a bad Gladiator but watching him is like watching a trainwreck and he makes season 4 interesting. Then you had Elektra who gets my vote for the hottest Gladiator. P.S. Looks like our little Diamond sure has grown over the year.
I guess I'm in the minority here because I loved Skytrack, there were the rare times that a contender would beat the gladiator at it though, which was cool to see. I really liked in either season 5 or 6 when they did a police special with all male officers and Siren went against them and beat them. Skytrack was her specialty Elektra was the best looking in my opinion as well!!
The gladiator issue coming into this season has been well documented, including right here on this channel many moons ago. It's a sad story, but it did cause a lot of chaos that shows in the performances. Not to say that it was a total bust, because we got Sabre, Sky and Siren out of this season, who became all time greats. (PS: I also think this was the last season that Turbo was genuinely chill. Next season, the switch was flipped.) Despite the greenness of many gladiators, a tip of the hat has to be given to many of the contenders, too. The fact they were already tested thanks to the live tour helped tip the playing field for them. This is evidenced in those who weren't just whopping the new glads, but also the veterans like Laser and Zap, too. So as much as you want to say it was all the gladiators being that bad, it was also at times the contenders just being that good. And I'd argue given how good contenders proved to be, it made the rule changes like 15-second Conquer, 15-second Wall head starts and the shrunken Joust platform really look pointless. It was weird, all of it.
Skytrack sucks. The later seasons had weak events too like the one where you snatch these hanging cylinders to to put in a basket jumping forward and back. Whiplash, tug o war. The eliminator had two children's ball pits. It looked like a Gameshow. Plus the fewer Gladiator roster.
What made super powerball so much more dangerous than normal powerball????? To me, it just looked like a smaller scale version of regular powerball!!!!!
the overall charisma of the male gladiators took a big hit this seasonc- gone were the - imho - most charismatic ones as Gemini, Nitro and Thunder. the only one left on par with them was Sabre. too bad cyclone didn get much spotlight, he had some potential and then injured himself (turbo was ok, but the rest seemed rather bland and uninteresting, or, as in the case of viper and havoc, simply bad)
31:46 This moment right here is one of the massive differences between early-90s sports and now: that sort of head-to-the-ground contact would have been immediately responded to. Seeing him get up, then absolutely fail to walk, was rough
Yes, we begin Season 4 of American Gladiators, and it's a straight jump into the first event. Announcer John Harlan is on his way out, and things may never be the same again.
It's fascinating to compare this wersion with the UK seasons from the same time. Even with the facelift, the US edition still has the feel of the early seasons where the UK was built from the ground up to have higher production values and be more theatrical. I guess it's the difference between using a studio and an arena, and later US seasons made several changes in that direction
Here are my notes. 1. I imagine a lot of people watched American Gladiators this season only to say "Wait a second, where's Gemini? Where's Nitro? That's not the real Lace!" I imagine a lot of people stopped watching because their favorite gladiators were just suddenly gone. Did they all leave because they couldn't get any merchandising royalties? 2. I really hope future seasons make the harnesses in Skytrak the same color as the contenders' uniforms. 3. If Atlasphere doesn't have an onscreen scoreboard, sound effects for scoring really helps out. 4. How was Darryl Moore not the starter? He clearly did better than Lance Sellers. According to my watch, he completed the eliminator in 41 seconds rather than 46 seconds.
33:20 I can't believe Larry didn't stop the game so Darryl could put his helmet on, when you thing of what happened with Lance just a minute or so prior!!!!! Lance could've died without the helmet on, taking that fall!!!
Darryl and Lance had terrible luck against the best of the season Cliff Miller. Lance couldn't score the points, and Darryl came in a bit too late. Darryl knew that as Cliff finished the cargo net, he new he was going to lose. I give them both A for effort, but Cliff was just sensational.
I wonder if the change in balls used for Powerball was partly due to the issue with the 1st half final from the pervious season where the contender scored a ball of the wrong color which gave the opponent a few extra points and enough of a head start in the Eliminator to win. These newer balls were also easier for the contenders to grip.
Great to see Elektra - easily my favourite American Glad. Funny they got another Lace - wonder what the story is there. Did they have the costume ready for the original Lace but she chose not to take part? Can't understand why they'd give a new Gladiator an existing name, especially when OG Lace was so popular.

I remembered there were 4 more new additional American Gladiators for season 4, the two additional male Gladiators names were Thor and the second Titan and the two additional female Gladiators names were Panther and the original Jazz played by Rhonda Lundstedt (not the one that debuted in season 5). Those 4 never appear in the original American Gladiators show they were serve as alternate Gladiators probably kept as alternates for seasons 4 through 7.
This is the first season I really remember as a 12 yr old kid. Might have been the fact that it aired at around 4 or 5 pm each Saturday for me. They definitely pick up the pace this season, going to 7 events and ditching the locker room stuff. The producers clearly wanted more points, with Super Powerball, and regular Powerball being easier, Joust platform shrinking, Wall head start increasing. Just a strange season, which explains the overhaul for Season 5. Worst part of this season is the eliminator being so incredibly easy and many undramatic finishes. Also this season made you wonder how Viper and Havoc got to be gladiators. The good....I had a crush on Elektra. And for this season Diamond....uh....you know, changed a bit.
Viper was badass and ruthless. What are you talking about? His attitude not congratulating contenders was also unique. His ask a Gladiator segments made him likable.

Wow I'd love to have seen the live tour. Lace 2 is super sexy. Shame she left. Also of course every Gladiator from S3. I also preferred the S3 Gladiator outfits than the mostly white spandex here.
This is the episode where SKY makes her debut on American gladiators. She is 6‘3“ tall and that scares the hell out of me! Even though I am 6‘3“ tall as well, I hardly ever meet anybody who is slightly close to my height or slightly over my height before. Actually, I rarely ever meet any women that are close to my height or slightly over my height.
Shame Darryl had to start when the show was pretty much already decided!!! :( He probably would've had a good shot of winning if he'd bee able to compete in an episode from the start!!! :(

Although this is entertainment, but the contestants and gladiators are highly trained athletes and the risks are high. Whoever you are and what ever you do. I cannot believe that after one contender suffers a CONCUSSION playing powerball, that his replacement comes in, immediately loses his helmet (WHICH THE GLADIATOR THROWS AWAY!!) and somehow play isn't paused. God damn, the nineties really were wild.
Lisa McCullough who was the original Zap from the test pilot of American Gladiators back in 1989 should have been added in season 4 and her American Gladiator name for season 4 should be "Battleaxe".
I always hated when they played powerball and super powerball in the same episode. It's like, "we just saw that, give us something different." Also, can you imagine being an alternate, then someone is injured and you get called in and they're like, "you're taking over 8 points, your opponent has over 50, you've got 17 seconds to score, then go to the eliminator. good luck." "um... just let the other guy win, I'll wait 'till the next injury."
I remember when American Gladiators came on years ago and I liked the female contenders and one ☝️ of them I like is the one in pink and(I almost seen her white bra showing)in the Power ball challenge.🇺🇸👍💯
Super Powerball was a Super Flop, and that final Gauntlet in the Eliminator was a Joke, but did provide a chance of Redemption the following season as an actual event with actual Gladiators.

The gladiator named Lace replaced the original of the same name, who was injured early in the previous season.
I'll give them credit for not trying to claim the new Lace was the same as the original Lace, but come on; they couldn't give her a new name?
Word! The original Lace was good enough.
The conqure event needs more rules. The gladiator shouldn't be able to lay down.
6:42 Body slam
Lisa McCullough who was the original Zap from the test pilot of American Gladiators back in 1989 should have been added in season 4 and her American Gladiator name for season 4 should be "Battleaxe".
Sabre. Phowar.
I always hated when they played powerball and super powerball in the same episode. It's like, "we just saw that, give us something different."
Also, can you imagine being an alternate, then someone is injured and you get called in and they're like, "you're taking over 8 points, your opponent has over 50, you've got 17 seconds to score, then go to the eliminator. good luck."
"um... just let the other guy win, I'll wait 'till the next injury."
A new beginning:
Sabre
Sky
Lace II
Elektra
Not to mention Cyclone, Havoc, and Viper (full-time).
@@drummingdanny84 viper from season 3 grand championship
Siren too!
@@kevinjwhite334 Except over half of them won’t last past Season 4
@@drummingdanny84 There was another Gladiator from the International Episode named Atlas, which unfortunately was his only episode.
Sunny from season 1 should have return in season 4.
Super Flop? I rather enjoyed Super Powerball
@@Watchinwheel Then why was it only featured in 2-3 episodes?!
Answer: FAILURE!!!
@@l-wolverine2211 how about stricken with many potential injuries?
I agree the gauntlet is pointless. Should have had gladiators behind walls.
Superpowerball is ausome. What are you talking about? Lance Sellers needed to tuck his chin. He took a German suplex or belly to back suplex.
Lace and pump up your Reebok cross trainer sneakers
My favorite female American gladiator is Sky, who is the female gladiator ever at six foot three inches tall.
I'm sorry, but Viper was probably the worst Gladiator ever
I couldn’t stand Turbo
Daryl straight got screwed. Period.
At 6'3" tall, Sky is the tallest female American Gladiator ever.
