I'm try to stay positive about this... and I hope this is a new beginning in which his departure is more of a sacrifice to bring in a new age. I know sounds pretty satanical. Hopefully, we get monday call ins with him holding a cocktail on the beach in Florida screaming about a Jets win.
Even as a Patriot fan Joe was my favorite. You could feel the passion in all of his work, like it was the NY version of myself. Thanks for the memories Joe! Enjoy retirement
One of the last links to the glory days of WFAN, Joe you are truly the voice of the Jets fan. You will be missed. Recovering from a Jets loss will never be the same. Please come back on the air from time to time.
One of the mainstays for New York sports and CULTURE over the past ten-to-twenty years no-doubt. Live your life well, Joe. I'm sure most of us here in the Empire State'll miss your embodiment of our fiery passion and enjoyment of sports (and life) at large. ...Seeya, man.
Nothing would make me happier than seeing a video of Joe B watching the final seconds of a Jets Super Bowl win. I hope you get yours soon Joe. Congrats on retirement!
Very sad news. I always felt that Joe spoke for us. He is a passionate fan. He is also very humble, genuine, and real. He will be missed. I hope we all live long enough to see the Jets in the Super Bowl.
Back in 1995 I was a young college guy working the over night as a security guard in westchester county. Man it was SO hard to stay awake because it was so quiet and so boring. What I had was Joe! He helped keep me awake and helped me not get fired! So thanks for the memories Joe! You will be missed.
I’m stunned. I’ve made it a point to listen to Joe wherever I was in this world whether it was tape delay, archived recordings, etc etc. Once he’s gone next Friday, WFAN is dead. Good luck, Mr. Benigno. Good tidings and blessings to you and your family. Buono fortuna. Ciao.
Joe is retiring “what a disgrace!!!!” His rants will live forever, I’ve literally listened to the opening after the “I see ghost” game 100 times it’s priceless
Born and raised in The Bronx, lifelong Yankees fan living in Virginia for the past 25 years. I love listening to Joe for his knowledge and his passion but mostly because listening to his accent reminds me of home. All the best in retirement Joe, we love you !
I just stared listening to this radio show this year and I’m a panthers fan. (Don’t ask me why I love the misery of others lol). But I have to say, joe is a national treasure. I will miss him
I remember Joe on the overnights back in the day.... always thought he was awesome from day one. Want to wish him a happy retirement. He always put a smile on my face when I listened to him. All the best Joe. You will be missed!!!!!
i used to listen to him on the overnights in mid 90s when i worked overnight from Baltimore. i could pick up the FAN at night 200 miles away and was much better than anything on locally. Thank you Joe
Thank you Joe for being a Great Mets/Jets Fan, broadcaster, and overall gentleman. You deserve only the best, congrats. Hope one of the two teams can bring you a championship during your next chapter in life.
Been listening to Joe since I was 11 and now I’m 31. Miss ya Joe, such an incredible voice. I moved from New York to Chicago and when ever I get home sick that voice always made me feel at home. Miss ya Joe.

Little by Little, classic WFAN, is ending. The late Don Imus, Mike and the Mad Dog, Tony Paige, now this. Best of luck JOE! Lots of great golf courses in Florida!
I remember those great wfan glory days. I remember when Mike and Dog were talking about these guest spots and so Joe comes on and I am hearing this DEEP voice and said this guy should win. How in the hell has like 26 years gone by?
Thanks for everything Joe, you were a great commiserating partner on Monday’s. Best of luck in the future, enjoy yourself. Definitely gonna need a “best of” Joe rants before he goes
1 of the realest broadcasters in sports talk and just an all around good human being. You will be missed Joe, from your epic rants on the bum ass Jets, i will so miss that. Good luck and Bless up!
Well, the Jets drove beloved Joe into Retirement. Good luck Mr. Benigno. Enjoy your retirement, cause you deserve it. Die Hard Steelers fan here, but as a New Yorker, he was entertaining and fun to listen to💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I'm a die hard steelers fan also...became a steelers fan when I was 9 years old when I watched the immaculate reception game..I became hooked to the black gold...but listening to Joe about the jets was priceless...GO STEELERS.
He represented this city and it sports teams in the perfect way. He was passionate and honest whether his teams win or lose. Happy Retirement Joe, you will be missed
This is heartbreaking, 2020 hits keep coming. As a Dolphins fan I have loved listening to Joe when the Jets are bad. Truly a national treasure. Hope he enjoys retirement.
When you started in Astoria, I was driving for Twin private car service. Doing the overnight shift. I left the station on after a Mets game. And joe came on. And that was it. I WAS HOKED FOR LIFE!!!! We had an account with Kaufman studios. Picked up Steve a couple of times and he stopped for pizza in the city. Great times listening Joe!!! You made this station go!!!! OH THE PAIN......when we don’t hear joe on wfan. All the best to Joe and his family!!!! 🎶🤘
Dammit I'll miss joe smh I've literally came on yt the past 2yrs everyday just to search joe and evan to hear these guys keep it real in their entertaining genuine rants. GL, bro😂😂
I just started listening to this man a year back and you could tell he was honest and had real passion for the Jets , i always viewed he and his partner as two friends talking about the team they loved.....enjoy your retirement.
I cant believe hes retiring so soon. I've listened to him since his overnight days ranting about john franco's blown saves. Wfan wont be the same. He is the greatest representative of Jets, Mets and Knicks fan's pain and will be missed greatly. Enjoy ur retirement Joe!
From the overnight to the midday I truly respect Joe B. He worked his way up from calling Mike and the Mad dog to replacing them eventually. Truly a stellar run. Jet Mondays will never be the same. Ohhh the Pain......Wfan without Joe won't be the same.
Sadness :( Joe has gotten me through some hard times in life. Much much appreciated Joe. if you ever see this I would like to personally congratulate you on a tremendous career and thank you for everything you've done for NY
Thank Goodness I have recorded and saved many many Joe rants for posterity and will listen to them for the rest of my life - because they NEVER EVER get old. Thanks so much for the laughs, Joe...you were the best! God speed in your retirement you earned it 👍
I've been listening to the great joey B since the over nights. The first time I heard him I was coming back from shea with my boy after a typical loss and we were rolling from the way he was talking. From that moment on I would always listen to him whenever I could. Years later I was driving a truck for local 3 when he got transferred to mid day with sid. I would listen ever single day. I've spent a lot of years listening and being entertained by him. Cheers to you for all the great years and terrific memories. Thank you bro
Joe, I have loved listening to you over the years talking about our Jets. Truly grew up listening to you since I was a kid. You are a true Jets fan and I think that people forget that. God bless you, congratulations and I hope you have an incredible retirement!
Well deserved. One of my favorite hosts despite not being for everyone...Joe came to work with passion every single day. Unlike Mike he never ever forgot how fortunate he was.
WFAN, do us all a favor and upload some classic Jets rants from Joe. Also I know we'll still hear from Joe from time to time. He'll call in every now and then. One moment I know for sure he'll be calling in, WHEN Adam Gase finally gets fired. He'll be too happy to not call in.
Mike and Chris, John Minko, Joe B... pretty much the soundtrack of my child hood into teen years and now into early adulthood... I wonder if they have archives from the overnight days or Joe calling in to Mike and Chris I would do anything for that audio. Enjoy retirement Joey baby
Joe, please at least call in after every brutal Jets loss. I know that’s a lot of Mondays but please, it’s therapy for us. You’re a legend, enjoy your retirement.
Truly one of the greats. My introduction to sports talk radio was listening to Joe doing the overnights. Mike and Dog along with Joe was must listen radio for me on a daily basis for many years. You’ll be missed. Enjoy retirement Joe, you’ve earned it.
