@@raysingh448 I'm a Giants fan and a Yankees fan. I'll be thrilled if Joe Judge passes Joe Girardi's success as a player, coach, and manager with the Yankees. He's not passing Joe DiMaggio.
Joe B hit the nail on the head when he said that Namath was THE GUY. He certainly was the biggest sports hero of our generation in NY. He was the face of the New York Jets. The franchise. Joe Willie White Shoes. Broadway Joe. Mr. Fu Manchu in a full length fur coat on the sidelines. He delivered our one and only championship. And to guys of Joe B's generation, like myself, we're eternally grateful. Namath was definitely THE GUY for me too, Joe B. I couldn't agree more. Good luck, good health, and enjoy your retirement.
@@MrBronx61 Definitely. Seaver was The Mets, Namath was THE Jets, and Walt "Clyde" Frazier was The Knicks. Naturally Namath had Boozer, Snell, Saur and Maynard, among other great players. But Joe was The Guy. Seaver had Cleon, Koosman, Ryan, Harrelson, etc, but Tom Terrific was The Guy. Clyde, had Willis, Debusschere, Lucas, Dollar Bill Bradley, etc. but Clyde was styling and profiling as The Guy
I was always fascinated with Joe B's memory on games from decades ago. Even his memory when it came to certain sports figures, etc. Joe just rambles them off like it just happened yesterday. That was a fascinating interview. Speaking of the Jets, Joe B has to have a spot on WFAN weekly to discuss the Jets games on Mondays.
Joe you will be missed dearly. Life long Jet fan wish we was able to bring a Super Bowl to you! One day hopefully anything is possible in life. Thank you for the classic Monday morning rants definitely will be missed. Thank you for all the great and bad years, it’s all part of being a jets fan lol. Legendary jets fan you have my respect for life thank you for the great memories
Gotta love Joe "The Rambler" Namath not realizing he's on the radio and dropping a curse at 9:23. Of course, I tease. Can't dump out of a Broadway Joe story!
This was fascinating. I watched America's game long ago and I remembered this moment. Funny listening along and recounting the events as if I were there. But I seen each play in my head.. on that touchdown pass Joe was soooo smooth. It was a thing of beauty the way he rocked back if forth on that throw. Simply spectacular
That picture is the first time I've seen what Evan and Joe look like after listening to them for 3 years. Evan doesn't look at all like what I was expecting. Joe, though - that's exactly how I imagined him.
What a great segment with the legendary Joe Willie Namath calling in and telling some old stories. I had a feeling that the FAN was gonna do this for Joe. Such a classy gesture by the station for Joe.
Met Joe Willie when I was a kid and I was in awe! The nicest guy in the world! He made time for me for several minutes and signed my baseball mit. He was playing softball for his Bachelors 3 bar in Manhattan. 2 years later I met Walt Frazier and I walked up to him and said that you are my favorite player in the NBA, he completely ignored me. After that I hated him lol, I'm 64 now and I still have him on my shit list. JWN was down to earth a real kind man!
He said on Monday that a few "big personalities" contacted him over the weekend and I'm thinking that might have been one of them but how epic would that be if he called in.
I listen to this yesterday live in I love Joe Namath and I really love Joe Benigno but this shouldn't have been about Nemeth this is Joe Benigno time in the spotlight
I think Joe Benigno was in awe of his boyhood idol Joe Namath. Joe Namath is also a International sports celebrity so it’s very cool Namath came on the show
Joe Namath on the Jets in layman's terms "No coach can coach this group of guys" lets face it, we have no talent! Missed blocks, missed tackles, missed catches! Decades of mismanagement and bad drafting. Joe D is going to need more that a 6 year contract to dig this team out of the talent hole its in. That being said... Go JETS!!!
@@jeromestracks108 Great one. Yeah, you got that right. Shea was right in the flight path of both LaGuardia and Kennedy Airports. Obviously you spent a lot of time there yourself. During the baseball season, how many times over the years did a batter call time and step out of the box because there was a plane flying overhead and messing with his concentration? Mets players were pretty used to it, but I know the opposition hated it. It didn't have much of an impact on football, but Yes, that sums up the Jets at Shea experience perfectly. The cold, the swirling winds, AND the frequent planes flying overhead. That's a dead on description of Jets games in those years.

How in the world Joe continues to remember these innocuous details is insane. Guy should've been working in sports his whole life
The legend Joe B retired because if he didn't then Adam Gase's coaching might have killed him
The two greatest Joe's in NY sports history.
Joe DiMaggio...I know
Joe Torre
Elite Joe Flacco.
