Hi, thank you for this tutorial. I have a question. Could we project upon a body this shape to create a projection mapping on the body? I try to better explain. I put a friend of mine in front of a kinect and I realise this shape in Touch Designer. After this could I connect touchdesigner to a projector to project his shape on his real body and make sure that the shape follows his body movements?
if you want to use an imported image you can multiply the image in the Composite operator instead of the noise. However if you want to use a texture you then need a Geo COMP and so a 3D shape but that is a completely different approach.
@@maurizioorlando97531 Thanks very much for your reply! Yeah, I tried using a geo COMP in order to put a texture on my silhouette using this tutorial ua-cam.com/video/r-EOtQhdJxg/v-deo.htmlbut I tried applying a texture over the spheres but it didn't get me the result that I would like. Gotta keep experimenting... Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

@@maurizioorlando97531 Hello Maurizio, thank you for offering to help. I am unsure if what I want to achieve for my installation is 100% achievable in TD but I would like to at least make a prototype of it. hello for this projects I use kinect v2. you might also need to select in the kinect tops the version1 in the parameter 'Hardware Version'. also check any resources online to connect the kinect v1 to touchdesigner in case the connection is not established
Hello! your tutorial look so nice! Should i do any setting in touchdesigner or kinect before try this tutorial? my kinect object's screen is being dark when i change depth to player index. i'm using kinect v2 also!
The screen is usually black. But try to place yourself or another person in front of the kinect and wave your hands. the silhouette should then appear!
@@maurizioorlando97531 i did haha. But i solve the problem! i'm non-commercial user, so the resolution limit is the key... thanks for kind answer and cool tutorial!
did your kinect already detected your shape? You should see a dark grey silhouette. After that you can apply your threshold and set it on 0.08. if the shape is not there, try to wave in front of the kinect and it should detect you.
Nice Tutorial for Beginners! I am using a Kinect v1, so without Camera Remap and Depth instead of Player Index, which also works nicely! :)) Having little trouble with the perform mode though - does anyone have an Idea why only a black screen gets displayed when switching into perfom mode? Thanks already! :**
you might need an 'out TOP' at the end of the pipeline. btw thanky Leonie! if you feel like sending me a donation, feel free to paypal me at: maurizio.orlando83@libero.it if you
Yeah it's easier on windows. However I know that there are some workarounds to make it work on Mac as well. you should research a bit on the topic. Unfortunately I can't help you with that because I just used it on Windows.
@@maurizioorlando97531 Thanks for confirming. I had a look at a few workarounds and the best option is installing windows via bootcamp, however it seems a bit drastic. I had it working years ago on an older mac os with max MSP and a few additional libraries (cant remember which ones). Have you tried the Intel RealSense Depth Cameras? Apparently they work on mac. More research needed.
@@theboytheycalljonny1 no never worked with it. Sorry! You can find Infos about it online though. If I remember correctly in the TD Facebook group, people were talking recently about real sense.

does it matter which kinect you use?
Really cool, It works for me! But i want to do this with projection Mapping, so if it detects an Object, it projects on it

Is there any other option for mac 🖥 since Kinect works only with windows.

if the kinect and the projector are very close to each other it could work... with some delay and maybe not perfect, but yes, it shoud work
