Stormy weather🎶🎤 She was one of Ms. Ella’s favourite singer❤😢
Two legends doing a song together! This is so cool
Connee sang from a wheelchair, but it wasn't common knowledge. She was a prime inspiration for Ella Fitzgerald.
Chick Webb was a big Connee Boswell fan.
Love this! You can actually see her leg moving a bit. Didn't know she could move them at all, glad she could!
+illbebad I saw her do a benefit performance in her later years, which she did from the piano, and I was surprised to her moving her feet on the pedals. When I spoke to her later, in her wheelchair, she was full of energy and bounce around in the chair as she spoke.
illbebad she could play the piano. Had to be able to move her right foot.
Hazel Scott had a 15 Minute Weekly TV series on the DuMont Network, before NBC picked up Nat King Cole, The McCarthy Red Scare Destroyed it.

Connee Boswell was obviously influenced by the sound of the Great Blues Women...and seeing as part of her childhood was spent in New Orleans, I daresay Bessie Smith in particular.
Mamie Smith was Connee's favorite as a teenager.
Connee Boswell couldn't walk, so here she's been placed on some kind of support / tall chair with an oversized dress to hide it.
