Because it sounds like blood running through your ears, a response to heightened awareness of the area around you. Your brain is constantly doing perimeter checks around your body using your five senses, mainly sound and sight. Most of this is filtered unconsciously. If your brain notices something is direly wrong or out of the norm, it will automatically make you aware, but it has to kick all of your senses into high gear. This means you’re suddenly experiencing what it is to be prey, in my opinion. The worst part is, sometimes you cannot overtly identify something is wrong, so it sends you through a limbo of flight, fight or freeze. @fusionblast3608 @TheDravenBair
