It looks great. I'm running Interco Truxus stock 37 size on factory bead lock rims and TWF inserts. Interesting I rub the hood from time to time when really running hard off-road. I'd rip the hood/fender lip off with that set up without a lift. I bought a lift kit (the insert for the coils) but haven't installed it yet - and may not. The Truxus is fabulous for snow/ice - but sucks on mud in my experience.
@McSpeedAlaskanAdventures I ran the exact tire and wheel combo on my last rig. Fantastic tires, I agree on the snow traction being excellent too. A little weighty for what they are but certainly get the job done.
@WatchRichRebuildsChannel 40 inch x 13.5 inch tires black rhino arsenals on the 17 inch wheel with +4 offset. I think the width was 9.5 if I remember right.
By the way nice looking rig. I too recommend a body lift to prevent rubbing on the hood. Whatever you decided to do please for the love of god don't chop the hood. I can't stand it when people chop the hood on a humvee. I also would recommend rock guards on the edge where you already have damage.
@@Kevin24Sevenyeah probably get less hate with the VW TDI but if I can get the Honda to run on 87 octane would be cheaper to run than diesel probably. Plus the Honda is cheaper to buy over the TDIs I've seen. I want efficiency with my build because I want it to do long distance trips on or off road. Currently have a promaster van built for camping and it's fun but wanna do some Alaska trips at some point. So think it's time to upgrade the adventure rig🤷🏼♂️
@@cch201992 I think there are really two schools of thought when it comes to the Humvee. 1: All original collector truck will be worth a lot of money in 100 years. 2: Cheap surplus toy, use is hard and put it away wet. Better to beat up and chop up a Humvee than a $80,000 truck. Personally I'm in the latter category. Its an awesome platform and deserves to be used for a purpose that suits the owners needs/desires in my opinion.
@@Kevin24Seven you're 100% right about humvee's being mainly "boomer-esque" but I believe thats attributed to the original collector truck variant of people. it is what it is, a cheap surplus vehicle that the govt doesnt even want around anymore. Use it as such. Its a cheap way to get the down and dirty version of a "civi hummer" with all the abilities minus the comfort. Gives opportunity to build as you want and make what you need.
The runflat disk is like 50 lbs and makes balancing impossible. When I replaced my tires, the runflats went bye-bye. Please post your wheel and tire spec in the chat. Consider using hockey pucks for the body lift.
Good video tons of information. I'm probably going to get one here soon. Wanting to do a Honda k24 swap with a turbo make it similar to the new 4 cylinder turbo Silverado. My idea is if I put the smaller engine in then I can make a front trunk. Plus have the reliability of the Honda. Would need a different transmission be I want more gears to help the Honda. Probably do similar to you on the rest of it 40s no suspension lift probably just better shocks and a puck lift. Or I might do a VW TDI idk I'm still debating the swap don't wanna do a Cummins swap or Duramax swap kinda played out maybe a 2.8 Cummins or something like that🤷🏻♂️ cool video🍻
Unfortunately they do not because the original wheel is a 16.5 and hardly anyone makes a tire to fit that. However you can buy Super Swampers (Intercos) and I would recommend the TRXUS Radials if you plan on doing any street driving. Great tire in snow and rides awesome. Great off road too. They are expensive but worth it. Just make sure to get your alignment right because they are a softer compound and will wear out very fast if its off.
I know nothing on rock crawling (aside from deep desert and back country stuff but nothing serious) and think those tires look really good 👍 but is there any concern on excessive wear of spindles, rubbing on hood going over rocks, chucking large chunks of mud or rock around the deisel filler line, etc? Now from the Snow aspect of things you mentioned, here in the high northeast (and this is coming from someone who did live in UT for 11 years) I find that the 24 bolt tires with the D or E range (I have to check) have better tread than the old tread 18 bolt tires. (just to note this is not me arguing just applying my experience here). To add to the lift kit stuff, if you get a M11xx up armored series of HMMWV (thats been de-milled) your suspension is naturally higher than the M1097-M998,M10xx etc due to the 15k weight expectancy.
@ZyzyxHumvees I don't know if you watched the whole video (and I don't blame you if you didnt) but it's getting a 2 inch body lift so there will be no rubbing issues on the hood or anything. Excessive spindle wear is way overblown in my opinion. My Jeep for example is still running a Dana 30 up front and factory came with 29ish inch tires, maybe smaller. It now has 35 inch tires, massive offset, and I wheel it very hard. 30k miles later the spindles are fine.
@ZyzyxHumvees also rocks and what not hitting the air filter are just part of it. The air filter housing on these things is very strong so it's not a concern other than taking off paint.
@Kevin24Seven thats good to know my rock shield was entirely removed on my M1114 when they took the armor off and I haven't found one to replace it. I did watch the whole way through, I've found that humvee content on YT is becoming less common and I don't want to copy other people's content or release something similar, and I genuinely just like hmmwv stuff :)
@@ZyzyxHumvees No worries I may have misinterpreted your comment. I wouldn't worry about the rack shield to be honest. Humvees don't really make enough power to really sling rocks like you would get with an LS powered Jeep or something.

Do them tires come in the stock size to use the original rims them tires look like they will get the job done. NICE LOVE THEM
