ford focus 1.0 ecoboost ST Line MK3.5 (Fully upgrading the air intake!!)

- In this video I’m helping my mate and channel subscriber Hayden to fully upgrade his air induction from totally standard on his 2017 Mk 3.5 1.0 ecoboost Focus ST line. He is aiming to achieve full Stage 1 and then eventually onto Stage 2 with his car.
We installed the Airtec induction kit, the uprated silicone large bore primary and secondary induction hoses, an uprated Airtec stainless steel crossover pipe and a stainless steel turbo hard pipe. The plastic OEM intake pipes rob your engine of power with there restrictive flow. The uprated pipes have a larger interior diameter allowing for a constant amount of smooth flowing air.
The direct routing and increased diameter of the uprated pipes offer superior flow and deliver more air to the turbocharger. All these parts combined allow more air to pass around your intake system thus giving more power. You also get improved induction sound as you will hear the air passing through when accelerating and will assist giving a greater blow off sound from your induction kit. Airtec state their induction kit will see gains of 5-10bhp compared to the original air box.

Thanks for helping me mate, really appreciate it. Induction sounds insane now. Next is the KOMPACT TURBO SMART DUAL PORT BOV 👍🏻
No worries mate 🤙🏻
Cheers for this I'm running same xcept titanium x spec
Nice 👍🏻
I see your heat shield around the turbo is broken like mine lol
Yeah his heat shield had broke, the MK3 pre facelift heat shield is a lot better made.
I’m running the same (same car & same year but white) - has he fitted the turbo smart dual port Bov ? I’ve tried fitting mine but it seems the holes for bolts are not the correct shape on the st-line. You can only fit 2 bolts in. Other than that this car with the induction kit looks and sounds amazing!
No he’s not fitted the Kompact dual port yet but I’ll probably help him install it when he buys it. Does sound good the induction kit noise, sound even better with the dual port aswell 👌🏻
@@EcoboostOwen yeah it’s sounds spot on, just a really strange fitting for it, not sure if the layout was changed on the 3.5 compared to your MK3. Either way love the videos mate, helped me out tonnes with my build aswell!
@@scottwooo763 I’ll have to have a look when I fit his dual port, I’m sure it’ll be fine. Glad my videos have helped you out with your build 👍🏻
Was going to say you probably shouldnt do that in the rain but judging by your accent, its always raining lol
😂😂 yeah does rain a lot in Manchester. We were under my garage door so we were ok from the rain 👍🏻
@@EcoboostOwen lol just making a funny. So was it worth the upgrade?
These upgrades were on my mates Mk3 ST Line. I’ve almost upgraded mine to a Stage 2 on my Mk3….definitely it 👍🏻
Where did you get the airtec induction kit from & how much does it cost?
www.airtecmotorsport.com/product/airtec-motorsport-induction-kit-for-1-0-litre-mk3-focus/
Does fitting this also need to be accompanied by a tune? I worry that I may get engine lights coming on the maf sensor might not agree with the extra air flow?
No it doesn’t require a stage 1 tune. This car in the video is totally stock apart from this full induction upgrade and he’s had no issues or engine lights coming on.
I’ve got a Ford Focus mk3.5 st line but mine is a 1.5 petrol. Can I get this induction kit? I can’t seem to find any for them.
It should do, but It’s best to check though with who ever your buying it from, they should confirm if it will or won’t fit your car.
Whats it drive like though. Some cars sound good but actually lose power?
He said after installing the Airtec induction kit his car felt quicker and more responsive. Also you get way more induction and recirculation noise. I’ve got one for mine but haven’t yet installed it as I’m doing a video on it.
Will the primary hose fit the stock air filter bit
Yes it will, it’s a direct swap with stock hose 👍🏻
@@EcoboostOwen thanks man, your a legend!
Do u have the link to the kit? Cheers if u do mate

Bro, they are so expensive, i thought they would be cheaper than the k and n air filter. A single K and N air filter is about 70-80 pounds, would you say its worth it for the sound? I have no mods yet I am thinking of just installing the air filter with no pipes just to save money. I have seen many yt videos of the sound difference and its amazing I am just not sure if I need extra things other than air filter to work, like different pipes or a remap? Pleas let me know.@@EcoboostOwen
@alitoto5452 the Airtec filter is more expensive as it’s a kit. Comes with a Maf housing, the air filter and the heat shield to stop hot under bonnet temperature affecting your power. If you just put in an air filter with no heat shield when it gets hot under the bonnet the car won’t perform aswell as it’s sucking in warmer air. It’s best to have a heat shield in my opinion.
@@EcoboostOwen Honestly bro I can't afford the bundle as it's very expensive, I'm still a student with a tight budget. would you say just having a k and n filter will be good enough? I don't really care about performance I just want to hear the turbo sound.
@alitoto5452 in that case yeah you could just remove the original air box and install a cone filter for more induction/turbo noise. If you want the blow off noise pssst. You’ll need to install a Turbosmart Kompact dual port Bov.
Could you recommend a good ball joint replacement or an upgraded one mine need doing 😢
Which part are you referring to mate?
@EcoboostOwen the ball joint that controls the steering mine feels loose and I thinks it's the ball joint from doing some research online
Have a look on AutoDoc for the part, they are pretty good on price aswell

@EcoboostOwen thanks man also another quick question, you think the ceuk torque mount is any good?
@Gito77645 not too sure about the Ceuk torque mount, I have the uprated Pumaspeed one which is an 80a durometer bushing. The higher the durometer, the stiffer the bushing. This is when you’ll get some vibration in the cabin but it makes the car feel more put together and slightly better 0-60mph and it’s better to drive. The standard torque mount is around 70a durometer. So depends on the durometer of the torque mount, 75a would be inbetween stock and a harder ride.
i think i have the same car 1.0 eco boost 125 2017 stline focus, how do you find out what the MK is
thanks
Yours is a MK3.5 mate, the pre facelift MK3 is I think from 2011-2014 and the face lift MK3.5 is 2014-2018 👍🏻
@@EcoboostOwen aww thats class thank you been try
ing to find out for ages
how do i know if my 2014 is mk3 or mk3.5? its a 64 plate maybe 3,5?@@EcoboostOwen
@alitoto5452 mine is a 2014 and is just a pre facelift model. Yours may just be a facelift model being a 64 plate. Best way to check is look at the Maf sensor, if it’s like mine in the video I did then it’s a pre facelift model. But if it’s a push and turn Maf sensor then it’s a facelift
Is his car still running mate ?
As far as I know yes it it is 👍🏻
