Thanks for the videos steve.. i watched some of your videos went out the next day and got a 38lb flathead using your techniques.. I've always been a bass fisherman but after feeling that pole bending power ill probably be catfishing most of the time.. im hooked!
love your videos... I am 42 years old and grew up fishing the Ohio River around the Wheelersburg and Portsmouth area. because of bad health I haven't been able to go fishing in about 10 years but I'm going through life changing weight loss surgery and can't wait to get back in the boat and catch some big Ohio River catfish until then I live vicariously through your videos and appreciate every one of them. hopefully one day we may be able to hook up and go fishing together. thanks for the great videos keep up the good work.
Thanks for getting back with me. Think I have watched all your video's now hahaha. Keep up the great work, catfishing was put on the back burner for so many years and now anglers are really starting to see it as a sport fish. Got my big fish in the paper at age 8 and at 37 I am still addicted to what lies in the next hole lol.
Great video! I love that you show the fish biting that is great.
thanks
As always, fantastic video Steve!! I love the difference between the fight of a flathead and a big blue, completely different!!!!
yes sir, great fishing in your area.
thanks, i use a combo of knots on my braid, a Palomar and a clinch knots. Palomar for new rigs and clinch for quick repairs.
That's all I needed to know Steve, thanks for the green light, I'm getting them!
Well done Steve! Always providing great action and information.
Awesome video Steve! Loved the way you allowed us to watch the fish bite on your rod holders. That is one of my favorite visuals on this here earth.
Thank you, Steve! That was an awesome video
Awesome Video Steve! Good job man. Best video I have seen by far. Your the only vid I have watched that actually shows the Fish Hitting the bait and how strong they can be on the initial strike. Keep up the good fishin. Tight lines man!
I just came over from Muddy River Catfishing and I am glad to know you are here.
thank you, hope you enjoy our vids
Wow over 1600 views in just 5 days, thanks to all who support me
fall time flatheading is alot better than summer time flatheads keep up what your doing fish around some structure and one will find your bait. good luck
Very well done Steve. Love the CPR keep up the good work.
Nice flatheads!! My favorite freshwater fish...
thanks,im going to set the rear of my boat up like yours, i like that rod holder bar you have
do you prefer cutbait over live bait?
Catfishing 101 at around 750...wait for them to get hooked up! Well done man. Great video as usual.
here in southern wisconsin i love using cut bait for channels..we usually use bluegill that we catch on the same body of water that we are fishing for cats and we usually have our better success on the heads but we crush them with a pliers..good vids catfishing dude!!!!
thanks dan
Nice video Steve.. I love watching big cats being caught and released. cant wait to get out there and use the stuff you teach..
Thanks Mike
Hi my name is Don Long from Bentonville Arkansas I'm 59 and I'm a disabled veteran not crippled yet. I love fishing the Mississippi river, lake heron in Michigan and the Arkansas river. I've been watching your program on you tube for a while now I would love to go fishing with you I think that it would be a great day but if not could you please send me one of your hats.
Thank you from a big fan of catfishing.
thanks John
Came here from Muddy river catfish. And I'm glad I did great video.
have a new subscriber.
Awesome video steve...I've learned a lot and have passed your knowledge on to many others. Keep them lines tight and I can't wait to see more vids.
thanks for the comment
im not local to that area, i am from Kentucky, i just travel there because of the cabealas tournament but its an awesome place to fish.
Good stuff man. I actually really like the bite sequences.... where you show what the bite looks like on the rod, talk about not grabbing the rod too soon, things like that. Love watching anything on catfish but yours are really enjoyable. Keep up the good work.
The catfish king. Love your videos.
great to see you back in the water bro
Hi Steve...Love Love you're video's. Today is my birthday and what I asked for was a CatMaxx reel and rod combo. It was on back order, but she came in last week. I've got another camping trip memorial weekend. I just wanted to give a tip to other fellow fishermen and women. I found a better price for the Surguard on Amazon for only $3.70. It's a different brand, but I'm sure the fish won't mind...LOL It's called "Retelast Tubular Elastic Net for Wound Dressing's Restraint - Size 1". Keep up the good work...Janet
You are a legend. Thanks for vid!!
Wow ...that's a monster flathead, truly enjoyed seeing that...
i was in the rc byrd pool on the ohio, up near point pleasant WV

Your the man steve thanks for showing us ur videos I've learned a lot. Me and my 9 year old boy watch all ur videos.
Jesse Thomas Thanks for stopping by Jesse
Steve i just started using braided line and would like to know the knot you use for your braided line connections. I've been fishing for a long time and i still love learning, and you do a great job of passing on the skills you've aquired over the years. Keep catching those big cats and I enjoy watching your videos.
Great video! I love fishing for flatheads. You should consider doing a fishing chartering business on the Ohio river. I see that you also catch some nice blues as well.
Very nice video Steve!!!
thanks
hi Steve have you fished here in Texas waters bcuz I've used from fresh cut bait to live for catfish any pointers
Hey Steve did any of your lines get snagged and how would you loose them
blues are very plentiful in that Gallipolis area.
yes use a swivel and color doesnt matter, catfish are not line shy, they will not pay any attn: to it.
thanks
what reel are you using, I'm using a shimano Cardiff 400a with a ugly stick big water
amazing daytime catches. What about after spring and do you only fish in the day?
What are some good tips for flathead fishing on the river in the fall?
Is it better to use circle hooks on cut bait
For the big ones do you prefer live bait or cut bait?
Steve what is a bulkhead catfish?
thanks Steve for the tips! I like to use live perch here in texas even if it is only 2' long on a 8-10/0 kale or circle!
How can there be any dislikes for this? Really nice video Steve. I'm a newcomer to your channel, really enjoying these nicely done videos and releases too! I've fished off and on for catfish for a long time, didn't start chasing flatheads until more recently. Some good no nonsense fishing, doesn't get any better than that! All the best to you. Thanks for this and please keep the catfish videos coming!!!
thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
love the vid just now starting after the flats myself the crappie are fun but its cat time !!! lol
If you live in gallipolis you should recognize the start of the vid which is point pleasant, just right across the river from you. all all kinds of good fishin in that area.
HEY STEVE wat reel are you using? My abu garcia 6600 just dont cut it.
Nice tip on decompressing. Steve have you ever fished the Ohio up here by Ironton? if so did you do any good?
love this i'm trying to get into flathead fishing its been tough for me though just keep catching huge channel cats(15-20lb) and the occasional flathead but they hardly break 20lbs. We don't have any large rivers real close so i'm fishing log jams on the upper end of reservoirs. Any tips?
Does North Carolina have skipjack?
How do you let them decompress?
I fish the Scioto in Columbus Ohio, and don't get near the size of the flatties u get, but it seems I only get channels and turtle when using cut bait. Seems the flathead only want live gills. Any suggestions or thoughts to why that is?
hello steve in my 70 plus yrs never seen one without dorsal love the vids
thanks Louis
looks like an injury
that dorsal fin was crazy !
im like you steve i wonder what happen to it ?
were are you fishing at
Lookin good out there Steve. I got some catching up to do. I am down 30Lbs. also nice fish Big brother.
Good fish Steve..
what type of boat do u fish off of?
I would try live bait here in the fall
enjoy your videos steve... we have been fishing most all of our life... but not a lot of river fishing mostly ponds and lakes.. what do you suggest for a decent price for a rod and reel set up?
Hey Steve, awesome video. Where on the Ohio are you fishing at? I live just north of Louisville. And one question, will flatheads hit off cut bait just the same in a lake or pond? I've always used live bluegill but never fished the river
They will still bite in the day for us here, but the night time action is even better.
What type of reels do you use bud?
Good vid how much would you guess that last one weighed?
whats a good rod and reel to use? i have a fishbonz its made for saltwater fishing and i believe its to heavy of a rod.
also i live in south eastern kentucky laurel county whitley county area and i have to bank fish
Do you ever have trouble with snapping turtles getting your line? Happens to me ALL the time
Hi Steve, always love your videos. Has helped greatly with all my catfishing. I notice you use the Mustad Demon circle hooks. I was wondering what size you usually use for your flatheading, and if it is the light wire hook or the regular. Thanks again for all your help and making these videos for us to learn from.
Ray thanks for stopping by. I use the mustad 399554bln;s in sizes 8 and 10 1X fine wire for most every situation.
Oh ya, and how do you keep them from clamping down on your thumb? :)
going to order my monster rack and holders and a river anchor this week that is all i like getting my boat ready, im ready to get suma that
Nice video! But i thought that flathead liked live bait
Hi Steve,
I live on the White River in Indianapolis. I caught a nice one from the bank and have had great take downs with live bluegill. Should I use the same rig as you from the bank?
Very good point on the "fish finder". It's all history anyways, unless you turn around and hope to get in that spot you scanned. Only real locating use I've found is locating stripers and that's only when they are feeding (those arch's)
this is near coney iland isnt it mr douglas this is my backyard basically and to know theres massive flatheads incourages me to fish it
Hey Steve around my part we don't have any skipjack's we just have shad. Would shad's or fresh cut asian carp bait be okay to use for some of these fish?
only about 10 minutes on the big one. if i dont get bit within 20 minutes i move to the next likely spot, thanks for the comment
What Is The Estimated Time You Wait For A Bite?
When you're fishing off the shore do you let your bait sit? So if I was using cutbait, fishing for channel, blues, or flats, do I let it sit on the bottom or do I reel it in slowly?
What's your take on the little Miami?
Steve that is awesome!!!
7jk (jjnnnnmji8jij.
,uh 7y h ccft
right now and until about November is good for flatheads, the blues bite all season.
How long is you`r rods, mate?
Nice Job.
Appreciate it man!
Nice job sir!
thanks
yea there are a few good fish there, but the better fishin is in the west Virginia pools
Steve on what part of the ohio are you fishing? im in the Cincinnati area, an been trying to find some good bank fishing spots along the big river ....
Steve where are you located?
