I impulse bought the core manual yesterday, and I'm so glad I decided to watch this series. honestly, it's riveting and it scratches the itch for fantasy that I had since I stopped playing D&D. love it!!
Same! I also stopped playing DnD and just started reading LoTR again. Have you ran the game yet? I am worried that it will take a lot of player buy in. Meaning I feel that everyone will need to be very into Lotr or into RP. DnD was easy because the DM could just throw in ANY random thing…
Thanks for checking us out! It's a blast to run and play (and honestly just to read). I can't recommend Impossible Landscapes enough. I hope you get a chance to play in it soon.
Thank you! I really enjoy the stance system. We'll keep tinkering and reveal more of the Combat Tasks for the other stances. There's some fun tactical decision-making in there without being overly complicated.
I'm so glad I gave this a chance and watched along. I don't have a good attention span, but you caught me midway through with the NPC with the dogs. Have you guys tried using Alchemy?
Thanks for giving us a chance and giving our stuff a watch! We really appreciate it. I've messed around with Alchemy only with Pirate Borg. I haven't used it enough to determine whether I like it or not. Once a few more games I'm interested in start popping up over there, I'll dedicate more time to messing with it.
What kind of preparation does jeff do for these rpgs? What kind of notes does he have and how much of the story he has prewritten in broad strokes to keep the adventure going? Or does he come up with everything on the go?
I mainly prep the broad strokes of what's going on around the various areas the players explore. Things like: What are the locals worried about? What are the evil things trying to do? What lore and/or treasure might there be to unearth? For the larger campaign, I have my various villains and their lieutenants. I make their goals very clear in my notes, and what will happen if the players don't do anything to interfere. If/when the players do interfere, I try to have the villains react to the players in a way that seems reasonable. I try to avoid scripting the story in a way that anticipates and/or forces player actions. Sometimes, with individual sessions, I might prep an area a little bit more robustly, like a dungeon crawl or adventure site. I'll dig into Tolkien lore and see if there's a bit of history that might fit, or I might hint at with an item or a ruin. For Journeys, I make a list of potential things they might observe/encounter along the way, and these often thematically reinforce whatever that adventure phase might focus on. Hope that helps!
@@AdventuresinLollygagginghavent seen you conduct a journey just yet but will get there sooner or later to have an idea how to run it as a beginner. Do you usually spend an hour on this maybe?
Enjoying the game, Angmar is one of my favorite parts of the lore. Going to restart my TOR game with the new edition which is set in Eriador and using some of the MERP Angmar material. Interesting to see how your players don't know any of the history of Tolkien's works like the long hatred goblins/orcs have with dwarves.
Angmar and the rise/fall of Andor is some of my favorite stuff from the lore. There are some good touchstones, but also plenty of space to tell your own story in the world. When is your TOR game set? The players have watched the movies and played some video/board games, but I don't think they've done any deep dives into Tolkien's works. I don't mind.
Unfortunately the audio levels continue to be bad pushing into the second episode going to try a few more and hope that they get better I just can't hear any of the players without maxing out my volume and then speakers when a GM speaker
Sorry to hear that. We try to tinker and improve as we go--better mic positions, adjusting individual volume however we can. Hopefully it improves for you. Listening back to this episode, I definitely hear the difference in volume between players/GM.
Appreciate you taking the time to listen to episode. Roleplaying games have combat--at least, most of the ones we play do. Plus, we find the combat rules for One Ring 2e fun, so we're going to continue using them when the situation warrants it. If this doesn't interest you, no worries! There might be other videos on UA-cam more suited to your tastes. Cheers!
The npc human from Bree with the Dogs is so great !!! Well done :)
Thank you! I hope he becomes a recurring character for the heroes to interact with.
Yeah, Hollis' voice is amazing! Jeff's really great with those.
Agreed! Really like the backstory!

Gilly with the clutch distraction! Loved Ashley RPing that!
My favorite part: It's a bird, it's a plane... no, it's a... dwarf?
Am glad I found this playthrough. Glad your all enjoying. Will look forward to playing this when I get the chance.

Awesome, I've been waiting for this :-)
Hope you like it! No Journey rules yet, but we had a couple fun encounters, haha :)
@@AdventuresinLollygagging the journey rules are pretty fun as well. I look forward to seeing you wrangle with them.
@@somuchgame6048 Hopefully this weekend!
Another very Good episode, as Always. Thank you Jeff and All :) . Yours accents for all different npc's is Awesome as always to.
Thank you, Matt! I enjoy doing all the accents and adding flavor to the NPCs, even if sometimes they blend together, haha. :P
Great episode! I really like how stances influence combat. I can't wait for next week!

@@AdventuresinLollygagging I am really looking forward to playing more of this game in 2022.
This is such a nice group. Gonna follow this campaign with a close Eye. ;)
Oh dear... I hope it's not that Eye!
Thank you though! We appreciate the kind words and the follow.
Voice acting from Game Master is suberb! 😂 And Fellowship saved this lot woman...nice!
Thank you so much! I really enjoy doing voices. :P
Lets go EP2!
Hope you enjoy!!

Darn right! :P
I loved the milk ‘warm and fresh from the teat.’ Does Long regularly come up with such unconscious double entendres?
Haha, we talk all the time about these random lines Long spouts. I think he does it on purpose...

I think everyone needs to speak up a little really hard to hear
Gotcha. We'll check the outputs in future sessions.
Agreed I have this same problem so I'm coming out at 9 months later so I'm hoping in the future the audio levels are better.
Great play. But listening to fights in roleplaying games are incredibly boring
