    It's funny now almost everyone reviewing the snapdragon x arm processors for windows is saying for the longest time they have been looking for a windows laptop..
    Even those using macbooks or die hard Macbook fans..
    Yet, I don't see a lot of praises for this accomplishment..
    Guys, we need to understand that this is impressive.. For the most part, these chips are been compared to the M2 and M3 chips.. That's amazing for the first gen.
    It means, for the most part, it beats Apple's first gen M1.. At least for the most part.. This is good and we should be happy, cause its for our good.. We win none the less..

    • @nickh4676

      It’s not impressive to beat an M1 chip when Apple is already on M4

    • @neodidi
      @neodidi 2 місяці тому

      @@nickh4676 for a first gen product been compared with Apple's M3? A multi trillion dollar company, literally one of the most influential tech companies, that is impressive.
      For a first gen product to also beat out not just Apple's first gen, but is been compared to one of their latest generation products... That is impressive.
      In my opinion, with the tools and resources Apple has, they should be super duper ahead.
      So I applaud the efforts of Qualcomm and Microsoft.. Which I expect from everyone, as we will all benefit.
      And at least, that was what we did when Apple first launched M1. We applauded cause we had nothing to compare to.
      But now, we've been spoilt and think what Qualcomm has done isn't impressive..
      Not surprised, typical human biased mindset.

    • @reduchimaki
      @reduchimaki 2 місяці тому

      @@Kratos30000 Personally, definitely go for it, if the apps you need have compatible versions with Apple Silicon MacBooks. With MacOS Sequoia, you get inbuilt window management, so no more downloading 3rd party apps for window management. The new Surface laptops run on an ARM chip (just like the MacBooks), but app support for ARM chips is *really* limited, and most apps run through a translation layer, which can heat things up, and occasionally lag.

    • @reduchimaki
      @reduchimaki 2 місяці тому +2

      @@Kratos30000 tbh don’t right now, because even though the new surface devices have major improvements, there’s barely any app support for arm chipsets. most things right now run through a translation layer, and it kinda sucks because it takes a lot of power. even chrome doesn’t run natively atm

      @@Kratos30000 A few weeks ago Microsoft announced ads in their operating system. Something that might put some people off completely. Like imagine you open the start menu and it has ads on the top bar etc. To me it would be annoying. I prefer using the Mac for my work machine and I have a built up a PC for gaming purposes. I feel Mac OS is much simpler and much more friendly than windows (personal view since I've used a Mac since 2005-6). The M3 chips (currently) are also quite a beast and their laptops will last for a long time. My last Mac book pro was the 15 inch 2016 model that I upgraded from. 8-9 years using the laptop feels good. I upgraded to the M1 in 2021 Jan. And mostly I hope I get to upgrade around 2026 or 2027 since most softwares will be incompatible by then with the M1.

    I have this laptop, they are really well made and have great performance. The benchmarks on my particular machine show it is at the M1 Max level of performance. Using it, I found that it keeps up very easily with my M1 MacBook Air and they both have a similar design and build quality. I think these new X Elite chips will slowly bring about an arm revolution in windows too. But, MS needs to work on their software a bit. It’s not bad but still too many incompatible software and bugs. I bricked the whole thing in 5 minutes accidentally adding an app that was not supported on windows arm. Developers are also slow, MS could learn a little from Apple on how to get developers support. I’m still very happy with it.

    still love and use my surface pro 7, but would really like one of these in black with 64GB RAM. Have been seriously considering switching to a macbook pro but with this now being an option I may not have to learn a new OS and just stick with windows. Going to wait a few months to see how these real world reviews come out. Hoping they keep the "exclusive" 64GB RAM model, because this would be a great data science laptop. Still want to see this variant vs an M3 mac pro with similar specs. Anyone who feels there is an obvious choice for data science laptop??
