Hey Group,
Thought it might be time to show another Rattlesnake Recipe as the Silver Turyle method was the first way I’d ever cooked one. Hopefully the flies don’t detract too much. Hope y’all enjoy this method as well as the area we chose to cook it up. Take care and as always...
Until Next Time,
Bob Hansler
K
Flies? Thought it was pepper 😂
Mendoza Juan Thanks glad to be back
Bob Hansler You’re videos are the best bob hansler
Bob Hansler that dog does not like your cooking
this is a man who doesn't need to scream loudly to command the attention of everyone around him, and still have respect for animals people would call "lesser".
High praise. Thank you for watching.
yeah
@Bob Hansler Bob, man, where are you? No new content in over 7 months and no message to let everyone know what's up and that you are ok. Sure praying that you and your family are safe brother.

Hopefully you dont mind me telling a personal story - Got "tagged" by a copperhead back in Virginia, in my back yard. I was trying to bring in my cat for the night, and I should have know something was amiss as she was moving back and forth (side to side). Well she had cornered a copperhead and had riled it up. I never even saw it as I was walking towards the cat and stepped right over and in front of it and got nailed when I bent down to pick up the cat.
It got me with only one fang that more or less just went under the skin. There was a sharp pain, and I honestly thought a rat had bit me. When I looked back I realized what it was and I did about a 5 foot leap away. The pain was instant, throbbing but not excruciating. Limped back inside and took off my shoe and sock and took a look at the back of my ankle. As the fang just when under the skin I was able to push/squeeze quite a bit of venom out (was like squeezing a blister). I remember the venom was kind of a golden color, and there was quite a lot soaking the sock also. I imagine it was all its venom, as it must have been afraid the cat was going to kill it and was. Lucky me.
Went to the doctor, they took blood elevated my foot and kept me under observation for about four hours. Never gave me anti-venom as it didnt inject enough venom into me, and according to them anti-venom should only be used in dire circumstances. Although they did offer morphine as they said the pain would be intense. Me being manly (I dont even like taking aspirin) I refused. Boy oh boy was that a mistake.
After they released me it was about a 40 minute drive back home, and I couldnt keep my foot elevated in a truck cab. So as the blood rushed back into my foot...holy **** did it hurt. Was an excruciating throbbing pain, felt like my foot was going to explode, like it was being over inflated with a bicycle pump. Pain. Pain. Pain.
Stayed in bed the whole next day. My foot swelled up pretty good, maybe a little over double its normal size, and the area around the bite turned black. And ohh boy was it so sensitive, even a light breeze blowing on it was intensely painful. I also remember this very vividly- It was hot day and I was sweating between my toes, and it literally felt like I was being burned by acid, thats how pain sensitive my foot was. So I'd have to try and wipe it away, which just fired off the pain nerves. I can say that whole pain experience sucked. But about 30 hours after the bite, my foot went back to normal. Only the bite area stayed black for a few weeks.
When I think back, I can only imagine what would have happened had it actually done a hypodermic bite with both fangs and gotten all that venom in me. I think my whole leg would have swollen up to the point where my skin would have split like a cooked sausage, and I dont even want to think what the pain would have been like.
I have even a better respect for poisonous reptiles, not afraid of them, just respect. Also now when an animal is acting strange/not like normal, I stop and try and figure out why.
I just took it as a positive life experience, which it was. A painful one, but positive.
And it does make for a good story.
Thanks for letting me share.
Have been bitten twice by Northern Pacific Rattlers, extremely painful. Sat on the first one when I was 16 and hunting with my Dad, I'll let your imagination go on where it bit me. The second one got me when I was home on leave, stepped over a small log while out fishing, snake was sunning itself and I almost stepped on it. I was about three hours from the nearest hospital. - - - Be Safe.
Holy my eyes are burning I didn’t blink reading that whole thing, any ways great story! I love how you acted calm I can tell you if anyone was bit they’d go crazy crying and praying for there life.
Yikes. I live in eastern usa and ive never seen a kind of snake. Am i considerd lucky?
Hyperregression: reminds of a time a neighbor came and got me about a snake on her front porch. I had a python and she thought it was mine, it wasn’t, it was a 36” copperhead. Aggressive sucker too. Tried to bite me several times. I ended up having to kill it unfortunately as it wouldn’t go away. Venom was all over my snake stick, tanned the skin and gave it to a friend. Thanks for sharing your story.
Wait until you get nailed by a brown recluse
That is the best description of a snake I've ever heard in my entire life.
"Snakes are just a really long rack of ribs"
We leave it on the bone an cut it up into pieces, sautte it in garlic butter in a cast iron skillet an done, really good.
We make Gnocci with it. Absolutely amazing.

This the type of dude who would make friends with snakes
I respect them, but as a Biologist I doubt that the concept of friendship computes in their limited capacity.
Bob Hansler you be speaking straight facts and I learned a lot from watching two videos at 2 am.
@@BobHansler .....the name is Plissken. 😉
He is ready for surviving like wow! He knows what to eat. Like, snake?! I would have not thinking of eating it😂thankfully I discover this channel
Good looking horses
Happy and healthy.
Helmets are important.....My boys went on that trip. Great time.
Definitely needed there. Great program for Scouts and Scouters.
Bob be like "you bite me, now I'll eat your entire race"
Lmao
I'm glad to see you back doing what God told you to do. It's still sad that you have haters. Don't worry. The Most High gave you a job to do. If people have a problem, they can take it to God. Just my opinion.
I came across your content looking for a method to cook a large chicken snake I shot. I teach my boys to respect all life, so using every part we can of an animal we kill (even if it's a threat to ourselves or our animals) is cornerstone of that belief. Thanks for your down-to-earth and experiential way of teaching.
Oh great video , Bob! You have a wonderful place. Envy it a bit.
Thank you. The place is actually the Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch. It’s our second home away from home.
LOL.."Parkay, dont know what it is, its not butter but it lasts for ever" ! Adding some to my prepping stock. Great Videos Sir, HUAH, USAF Combat Veteran
It’s butter-ish. Handy stuff though.
Nice touch with the frontier music outro
On of my favorites.
You’re living the life I daydreamed about in elementary school (in between getting the tar beaten out of me). I’m getting there though! I’ll be shoeing on my own soon...and I got a lead on a horse!
Bob & family, having recently found you channel and binge watching the past few days, just wanted to express my gratitude to these very informative and entertaining videos. Love your work guys, keep it up!
Means the world to read such. This is why we started this endeavor. Glad you’ve enjoyed it.
Hi from alpine TX Bob good to see you back
It warms my heart to see you, Huck (and, I presume Shauna) back on those trails. 324k subscribers 👍
Glad you enjoyed the video. We’ll keep them coming.

Doggo the chunky boi 😭😭😭 so cute
I really like this channel. Wholesome ethical outdoors tips and skills. I like the fact that he owns some firearms and uses them as tools, but doesn't feel the need to parade around with them.
This guy legit, i love the detail lot of information
we liked your program. thank you for making it.
Glad you enjoyed it. More to come.
Watching this during the lunch hour is making me even hungrier! Keep 'em comin'!!!
Loved the horseback shots at the end...I never would've guessed that there could be such beautiful country in West Texas. Thanks for sharing it.
It’s an amazing place. Few know of it.
I love the way you keep yourself humble. Keep it up.
Hey Bob. Looked good. Reminded me of trips out to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico when I was a teenager. Got to taste my first rattlesnake out there and it was good when we were hungry. Like you, I am older now and a little more selective on my dining these days. Thanks for bringing back some good memories. Am 68 years old now.
I just love living in Texas. Wouldn't change it for the world
The first time I ate rattlesnake I had no idea what to do with it. So, I filleted it out and saute'd it in butter.....Tasted like calamari.....Yum.
I’d have to be pretty hungry to eat a snake but at least now I know a good way to cook it. Thanks for sharing!
Never know. Glad you enjoyed the vid.
Keep in mind, we may have to. Instead of charging an arm and a leg, Bob is doing this out of the kindness of his heart. I wish Bob's haters would see this.
@@ThomasBoyce5000 I didn't know there were Bob haters!
@@BCVS777 Unfortunately there are. They think it's cRUeLTy tO aNiMaLs. Jokes on them because he also teaches foraging.
@@BCVS777 Yeah, Bob has a ton of haters, but it'll be funny if we end up using the skills, but folks were too busy hating on Bob instead of having gratitude that Bob is teaching us for free. That looked delicious. Glad to see you doing what you love again Bob! Thanks for the awesome vids.

As always, I love the video. I have seen you cook snake a couple different ways & I think this one may be the one to finally get my nephew to try. Although we won't actively hunt a Timber Rattlesnake, if we acquire one, this is the recipe we will try. I will let you know how it goes. I want him to know all his options for food if the need arises. Thank you for the educational & informative video. Thank you also to Shauna for your awesome camera work!
This is the tastiest to me. Have fun with iit. Glad y’all are still watching.

I found WB through Bob's channel. I don't have time to watch both. I think I've made the right decision.
Hey Thermal, always glad to have you.
I like the fact they have there own unique ways. Also enjoy that 1 shows the canadian landscape and Mr Hansler landscape is the complete opposite. If I had 2 pick 1 show it would be this 1.
Cut into 6in pieces and marinate in teriyaki sauce, then throw on a charcoal grill, flip a few times and reapply more sause... FREAKN DELICIOUS !!🐍
Hi Bob. Good to have you back.! Another idea for cooking a snake : If you have a yogurt with you . Add lemon juice to the yogurt (very little) and a little bit off dill (dry or fresh) and a spoon of lemon spice. Marinate the snake for 2-4 hrs. You can cook it on very hot cast iron skillet with butter onions and garlic or grill it on skewers. either way comes out great.I know sounds fancy for the trail but I have tried it in the past and it's delicious !
Always fun to try new tastes.
Thanks Bob, might try your recipe soon. Got to work my head around the killing part first. I appreciate your videos, keep them coming.
Yes, the killing is necessary. Doing this to a living creature would be horrible :). Be humane and enjoy the meal.

Rattle snake on the menu can’t be bad, like the way you cleaned it and cooked it, nearest thing I’ve eaten to a snake is a river eel. Thanks for sharing nice video oh yes nice horses too. 👍👌🇬🇧
I’m hoping to get more experience with eel soon. Definitely regional dishes.
