  • Synced Ableton to EP-133 KOii In this video. I take users through all the steps required to make the EP-133 KO 2 talk to Ableton using Midi sync. In the process, I track out an entire beat to the Ableton DAW.
    Purpose: Teenage Engineering fell short with export options for this unit. That said, once you reach 9 projects or fill the memory your ideas need somewhere to go. Ableton, or any DAW of your choice is an excellent option for export and expansion. Here is the workflow…

    ⚠NOTE : For this to work make sure your KO II is set to MIDI OUT. Press Shift + Erase. Type in 102 then press enter. OUT should flash across the screen. Also, make sure you select your Volt 1 as your in & out in audio preferences. Now your in the driver's seat.🚗

    Great tutorial, but you should know that KO II sends midi sync over the USB you plugged in! The other midi connections are extraneous. I just tested it over USB. Seems to work great.

      Is your PC power supply properly earthed? If not, it can create problems. Also try a different usb cable and port.

      Yes. Don't turn the gain up loud, you will get air in the recording. Turn the gain down as low as you can and boost it in post. Let me know if that helps.

    how do you get one of those projects back to your K.O.?

    • @bassrobotics
      @bassrobotics  4 місяці тому

      You mean a project you have taken off? If so, why would you want to put it back on? If you have it in a DAW, you’ve moved on to bigger and better things bro. Worst case scenario, if you insist, you can sample it back in track by track.

    • @bassrobotics
      @bassrobotics  4 місяці тому

      @@stuntmanmadeit well if that’s the case I would just resample from Ableton and loop the performance or something. The workflow you’re talking about would be kind of hard on the KOII. I would probably break out the SP-404 for live DJ sets.

    MIDI via USB would be much easier :(

  • @jedcappelli3206
    @jedcappelli3206 2 місяці тому

    This is not "exporting" projects to Ableton. This is recording each track, one at a time. Teenage Engineering is however working on a firmware update (supposedly) that will allow for usb exporting of projects. A more accurate title for this video would be "Syncing the KO II to Ableton Live". In any event, why are you engaging the record function on the KO II? Couldn't you just press play and then solo the track?

    • @bassrobotics
      @bassrobotics  2 місяці тому +1

      Message received!!! Let me address each accordingly. I get your being technical. Yes, it could be described as a recording of each track. It could also be an export as the track is technically leaving the KOII and arriving into Abelton to be saved as a .WAV file. As far as the TE update i’ll believe that when I see it. In the meantime, I am sure some folks that don't know anything about what we are talking about can appreciate this video. As far as the title suggestion, I guess. Lastly, you could just press play and solo if you are able to start both Ableton and the EP-133 at the same time. Doing it the way you suggest I see drastic timing issues.
