Man, you are good. Love the presentation, Love the way you explain what you are doing. Especially like the way you pause the video to prep for the next step. Also like the way you humble except the little things that go wrong. Everyone knows that it's not simply taking the bolts out, swapping old for new parts, then bolting them back in. We know space restriction, greasy parts, and difficulties accessing hard to get at bolts. You are such a great teacher and communicator. Thank you. Keep up the good work.
I’ve been struggling with this for three days now. Obviously, I’m not much of a mechanic, but in my 2000 explorer with 260,000 mi., every thing was fighting me. Especially myself.
Nobody goes over the details of the harder to remove or replace corroded parts and I’m alone doing it in the dirt. Thank you for showing detail with warts and all. God Bless you and your family.
Great vid. Also please everyone use extreme caution if using power tools around gasoline. If any spills stop immediatly.
Thanks for the video my 2001 explorer would not crank just by seeing the way to turn the switch on and off several times to make the pump send fuel to the engine allowed the truck to crank. Something so simple solved the problem.
Thanks watching this helped me out . My explorer was sitting for almost a year . Finally decided to do it . It had half a tank . Took all the old gas out . And the filter bag was all clogged up .
Glad it helped, and we would have loved to see some pictures of inside that tank!
Like watching a surgeon. Best experience watching and learning how to. Very concise. Thanks for this. Made my life easier
Thank you!
This is exactly the video I was looking for...not because of the job it's self but because your a real dude with real tools and real knowledge. I will tackle this job too because of your video thank you for what you do. Other people would've deleted or edited and made this looks really easy you should us exactly how it will be... It is difficult but it can be done. Thank you
Thanks Sergio, really appreciate it, that means a lot to us.
Thanks for your instructions gives me the confidence to do my fuel pump on my explorer
Glad to help, and let us know how it turns out!

LOL, THANKS!!
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos Word!
Thank you very much for such a great video. I find your approach and the way you do not trim anything out from the videos when it comes to the repair steps to be very beneficial and educating to the viewers. Great work. Hats off to you.
Thank you!! It's comments like yours that keep us doing what we do!!
You all are awesome ! This
Is very useful and well
Filmed.
Very good job! and fantastic video and camera. Very well and detailed explained, so now I feel confident I can do the same job on my brother's 98 Explorer with a 4.0Lt OHV engine.. I was afraid to do it, but now, thanks to your video, I will not hesitate to do it right. Thanks again and keep posting your work videos.
THANK YOU Don!! That means a lot to us, and be sure to let us know how the job went!
I found this video AFTER changing the my fuel pump. This explains what I had to figure out. This video had good info.
Great to hear!
Awesome channel guys, Love it. Keeping em on the road! That's what I'm talking about.
Thanks Julio
You make some of the best videos I've ever seen without all the stupid crap some guys mix in there. Thanks. It was nice to see that I need to buy something before I tear my truck apart again. I bought it from some guy who barely knows where the gas goes. Just a suggestion though? If you live in a place that salts heavily during the snow do NOT bend the tank bracket out of the way. It'll probably snap from the rust. I've had the truck here one winter. I got it without a speck of rust too. Now it looks as rusty as scrap yard junker. Thanks again. That was much easier than just reading the repair manual.....which I did first since I've never replaced this part before.
Thanks Heather Cortes, and that is a GREAT suggestion on that bracket!!
Number 1 reason I subscribed is because you didn't edit the "uuuooppss" you show it how it is. Good work God bless your work.
Very well explained and good camera work, thank you very much
No problem, and THANK YOU TOO!
I really like your style of teaching, you really seem to enjoy your work. Thank you.
Appreciate that Randy, and YES I DO!!
I liked how you explained why you were doing what you were doing. Great detail! Thanks.....
Thanks you Brett Allen!!
Great Video! I learned how to replace fuel pump and filter. I can now do it on the 2001 Explorer
SportTrac of my cousin. Thank you for the video.
Glad it helped, and THANKS!!
Thank you man! About to tackle it today you made it look easy
Glad it helped, and let us know how it went!
Now THAT'S how to make a video. Damn straight. Your pump invention is superb. One piece of advice. Just use good ol' duct tape to hold your bracket in place. It works. Thanks for a top notch video
LOL, thanks!
Wow!..amazing how-to my man!...thanks so much!..filled with so many great tips!..the fuel pump trick to pump the gas out is genius!..have to do this to mine this weekend..thanks again really appreciate it!!! 👍🏻🍻
Really appreciate that Frank! Let me know how the repair goes once completed!
Harbor Freight's "Low Lift Transmission Jack" is also a wonderful tool to have on hand when removing and installing fuel tanks or anything heavy that you're pulling down from underneath a vehicle.
We have used it just for that. We probably have a video using it.
Best vid I saw on this topic. Thank you.
Thanks seal7987!
Nice job explain all steeps clear. Tks good helper team work.
Thanks Armando!
Well. Now I know how easy it is. Thanks man

Thanks for the video man. Good job and it was very helpful.👍👍👍
No problem, and THANKS for showing your appreciation!
Nice work thank u for sharing .
Most older Ford Explorers end up in junk yards.
My son's 2000 Explorer XLT won't.
Yes...my want either I love my truck with a hood lol😝.
thanks silv
Very informative! Love the way you went step by step in explaining what to do. I have a few questions for you. What did you do to depressurize the system before starting? Have you ever thought about making an access panel under the seat to access the fuel pump so you dont have to drop the tank?
The vehicle didn't start, so there was no pressure in it. I don't think my customers would appreciate it if I made holes in their cars, so that's not an option.
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos No I meant for your own vehicles. SOrry.:)
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos Thank you for sharing the video with us!
Great video!!!!! Got my confidence up a bit.
You got this!
Excellent video. 👍 is the same. Proceed
In a 2002 ford explorer. I have a leak. On top of the tank. Maybe i have to replace the fuel pump.
Thanks, and it might just be the seal, but if you go through all that (just like you said) might as well replace the pump. Keep us updated!
Do you remember if this 1st gen or a 2nd? Explorer sport made 2 generation versions. The 1st gen is the twist on locking pump and the 2nd gen was bolt on. My husband and I have to do this project to mine. Do you also happen to know the part number of the new pump you put in?
I can't get the fuel lines off. Cleaned all the grit out. Used lubricant to aid in applying the quick disconnect tool. Even dropped the tank and removed the pump to give myself more leverage and still 3 hours of this.
Thanks for another awesome video , Timmy. Besides the bigger gas tank, I assume it's the same procedure for a Ford Explorer V8?
I believe so Joey, and thanks!
You make great videos! Thank you! this is exactly what i needed.
THANKS!
Muy bien explicado ,muchas gracias ahora a reparar mi explorer 2001
Gracias!!
This is MY FAVORITE VIDEO OF THIS FUN JOB! LOL

Very good video

Thank you
You're welcome, THANKS!
Your video was excellent, how much Fuel pump approximately ???
Would it be the same for a 1999 Explorer
If the parts are the same they are probably the same or similar.
Awesome job I can tell you work in any weather out there
Thanks Ziggy, I do love working in the winter, but HATE the summer!
Very informative
Thanks
Glad it was helpful, THANKS!!
Great job
Thanks!
Great video, really helped me out.
No problem at all Thomas, and THANKS!
He should get a pair of those gripping gloves.
How much did you charge to do this job?
I always avoid freshly filled filling stations So all the tank sludge is at the bottom of a the filling station tank
Very good !!
Thanks a lot!
Good video
Thanks Dany!
What if it has old gas like 1 year old . Can I take it out . Can I leave the gas task empty when once I install the new pump ? And just add gas thru the gas hole when I’m done installing it ?
YES!!
Great tks.
Welcome!
Timmy, if she ever let's you finish a job and not remind about something, you ban her, ban her!! Team timmy
LOL, I sure will, us guys have to stick together!
Put a Walbro fuel pump in there, then add boost!
muchas..Gracias Amigo muibien hesplicado Gracias
Denada, muchas gracias por su comento
How many hours might this job take me? I'm no mechanic but I am mechanically inclined.
It took us about 3, maybe you can judge it from that!
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos ok thank you!!
Great video
Thanks Jose!
Is it the same work for the 02 explorer
If it's the same engine it's probably the same or similar
Dope video! How would you rate this type of job for a newbie like myself?
Not that bad at all, that's why we try to give as much details as possible, so anyone can do it!
nice fix Tim. yeah (hawkeye) Silvia team...
LOL, thanks Ed!
@ 26:26 I subbed. Lmao! You did a fantastic job. Both of you! Thanks
Thanks, really appreciate your support!
I think the tank is on the other side in a 2002 🤔 and it’s plastic?
Sorry, not sure.
What are the oods the filter get clogged instead of the pump my wifes car isnt getting any fuel to the engine but I think I can hear the pump? Weird
Sometimes you can hear a fuel pump and it can be bad, it's rare, but we have seen it.
I'm replacing the fuel pump on my 02 Ford Explorer XLT. I've got a few hose and a few lines and wires disconnected but I'm having trouble getting to the bolt between the driveshaft and gas tank. How did you guy's get to the bolt?
Start watching from here: ua-cam.com/video/PMn5zJX5sxA/v-deo.html
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos Thank you so much for responding. Getting back at it tomorrow. My tank has 2 straps. So far I've noticed only 1 pipe pipe coming from the back of the tank.
@@savannahparton9277 No problem at all! Two, what year is yours?
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos 2002

Hey bud im about to do this.First time. can i ask you questions ?
Sure, what's up Donnie?
I know why the fuel line was cut at the filter. I bet they put in a "clicky clack" auxiliary fuel pump just to get it home. It's way cheaper than a tow truck.
yeahhhhhh boy 🤙
👍👍
About how much money does it take to fill up the gas?
Not sure, this is not our truck.
Very sketchy vehicle.
Somebody has played with the fuel and vent lines, the theft light is flashing, low on fuel, clogged in tank sock filter and it has a misfire. Video evidence is your friend for sure.
Good work Timmy & Sylvia!
HECK YEAH, Won't be coming to us and saying it wasn't like that!
Astral: Do you guys do work in work parking lots? I've been asked to do that a few times and if it's small I will but it makes me nervous to do that. What do you think?
Thanks!
Great video as usual
Hey Matt, SAME HERE! It's kind of nervous to work in some parking lots, but if it's a well known area, then we don't mind. MOST of the time we let the customer know that they have to have it towed to their place.
We're you located at my car turns over but won't crank when cranking you can see the gauges vibrate
We are in Rocky Mount, NC.
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos I need a engine I believe that's what 2 shops told me it turns over but doesn't crank they said the fuel pump and it jump timing
@@wesleybillionairevirgin8714 It's very rare for both of those to go at the same time, and it is also rare for that engine to jump timing.
I'd never take a customer's word for what's going on with the vehicle.. reason being, if the part doesn't fix it .. guess who will be blamed. Always diagnosis before repairing/replacing.
This is why we get paid, up front, in cash, when we do a job where they just hire us to replace a part. Also, we make sure we lwet them know, there is no guarantee because we did NOT diagnose the vehicle. So far we have not had any problems.
Ahhh my car has 300000 on it I just took the back seat out and cut a hole in the floorboard LMAO!!!!!!
I can see doing that once the tank is OUT.
how to tell if my fuel is bad
It will smell stale, or there are testers out there to test the water level.
I could be wrong, but I think Iseekoutthetruth drove that truck last, so that might explain why the tank was empty.
LOL
Lol
I Can Dig this job
Hey Hector, looking forward to more family videos!!!
good job that mustang needs to have team Silvia on it LOL.
LOL
minutes 43.31 I see that something is draining in front of the brake booster .the small blue hose, you look at it,,, Exactly where is it the yelow oil deep stick
HOLY COW, it took me a while to see what you saw, but it did look like something was streaming out of there. It has to be our imagination because a few minutes later, she asked me to move the truck to the side, and when I did, I'm sure SOMEBODY would have saw all that fluid on the ground, but it was dry.
Talk about your eyes playing tricks on you, that looked like it was POURING out, LOL!
What, again?
Again you're 1st????
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos Caught Cooter nappin'!
OHHHH, LOL!
@Cooter Too funny! Took the name from the Reacher series written by Lee Child long before Tom Cruise starred in the movie. The character in the book is around my size and I've got 10 inches and 60 lbs. on little Tommy although, I must admit, I still enjoyed the movies.
@Cooter Couldn't say. One of these days I may get all of them but I have read everything the local library has on hand.
Great job
Thanks gto 55!!
