This is so much like my first moments in Germany! Except I was carrying two big suitcases and a huge backpack, I was exhausted from taking three flights to get there and the bus was packed. I struggled a lot with understanding the ticket selling machine and also with the coins which I was using for the first time in my life... Two lovely old german people helped me to get into that bus using broken English.... Although it was a tough moment I treasure it in my mind... Going to live abroad is truly an amazing experience but it is also full of confusing and difficult moments like this...
I dont understand those machines myself. It happeneds often even to germans that they buy the wrong tickets in trains. Because the system is complicated.

I remember racing to catcj the train for Frankfurt. I was going back to the states and had THREE heavy suitcases. I just made the train and barely got my suitcases on before it left. Catching my breath the conductor laid into me. I understood a little - enough to finally realize I was in first class. Having all those suitcases I asked if I could wait to the next stop to transfer them. Not a chance. The guy was not rude, well sort of not. It's the rules and he was doing his job. We lived in Germany six years. By the second year I was more than acquainted with rules and customs. And, like you said, if you make an effort, especially in German, they are more than gracious.

They let you suffer a little so you can figure out things by yourself. And then, just when you thing you might break apart..... They push you a little, so can figure it out. What a coincidence! I just find the first time I went to Germany is also 23, and celebrate my 24 birthday in Bonn where is the homeland of my favorite musician Beethoven. Also make many mistake when travel by train. But German people are so kind and friendly. I'm learning Deutsch in China, and hope one day can study in Deutschland again.

The first time I watched this, after 2 weeks of learning, I could only make out 'entschuldigung' and 'vielen dank' Aber jetzt, I understood circa achtzig% of the story. It feels magical going from not knowing anything to understanding a lot. Wish me well😁😁

Hahaha this perfectly captures the way you have to not fall down in the bus as it moves on before you're ready! German transit is excellent for improving your balance skills (and yet, I also admire how many elderly people take the bus and train, not to mention biking up hills (!!), I wish we had that here in the USA).
I think I got the message of the video. I'm trying to understand German without subtitles, and I'll admit it was very difficult but after rewatching it again, I understood more.
Great thing when you move to a new country is, you get into so many embarrassing situations and then you realise you don't actually die after all (I know, I've done it five time). Lowered my anxiety considerably.
The german people are so helpful. Remember being in a train in münich. I even got off the wrong stop but then 1 of them germans somehow knew i was on the wrong stop and bothered to follow me outside the train and tell me that i got off the wrong stop and had to hop back in! Yikes! Very nice people i am surprised.
This video reminds me my first time using the bus in Germany. You don't know what to do and how exactly the things work but at the end you can handle it with the help of others
I remember when I first wanted to learn German I watched this video, and when I came here the first time I almost went to another city in the train because I didn't understand the system lol , thank God I knew some basic german
ah on my way home from germany, i had my friend with me all the time except this last journey. i accidently got onto the wrong train. had to get off at a random stop, and had to go up to a stranger to ask for help. his 'little english' was enough to have a full conversation. I think this lady (Nevin Coşkun alias Sara Klapp) in this TV series is perfect in German. She just behaves like a struggling German language beginner. The way she pronounce the German words, can be easily judge that she is native or C2 level in German.

It is so unefective to learn with these, you lost maybe 60 % of time with listening nothing and just watching .. But it is not problem of just these video.
This video is great. Whenever one is abroad, things always go wrong during the first few days, for no reason at all, as if taking the piss on us: bus route temporarily changed due to road work, office closed due to rennovation, ticket machine out of order/coins, and in case of Italy, one gets conned. For this, I believe the video would speak to a lot of us.

I was a bit scared, at 18, when I came directly from my flight from California to Frankfort and the main train station, in 1973. I was shocked that everyone was speaking German. I had taken German for 2 years in high school and 1 year in college. A lot of German people helped me through a lot of my challenging experiences. Almost 50 years later, I'm still in touch with Germans I became friends with, and who had befriended me.
Really Cool - Chinese, English, and GERMAN --What's really cool about reading all these comments, most of which are in German and English, is that I can read and understand what people from around the world are saying, because I can read, write, and speak German and English. I will never forget meeting a Chinese man in Germany in 1973 when I was 18. He could not speak English and I could not speak Chinese, but we both could speak German. I was a bit scared, at 18, when I came directly from my flight from California to Frankfort and the main train station, in 1973. I was shocked that everyone was speaking German. I had taken German for 2 years in high school and 1 year in college. A lot of German people helped me through a lot of my challenging experiences. Almost 50 years later, I'm still in touch with Germans I became friends with, and who had befriended me.

Really Cool - Chinese, English, and GERMAN --What's really cool about reading all these comments, most of which are in German and English, is that I can read and understand what people from around the world are saying, because I can read, write, and speak German and English. I will never forget meeting a Chinese man in Germany in 1973 when I was 18. He could not speak English and I could not speak Chinese, but we both could speak German.
