    For a Japanese like me, 雛祭り (Hina-matsuri/doll festival/girl's day) and 端午の節句 (Tango-no-Sekku/boy's day) has been just parts of life, the customs, something you don't think deeply in the daily life. To hear all those back stories and history anew is so much fun. (The notions like 供養 (Kuyou), I understand, might be unfamiliar outside Japan. We have the sewing needle kuyou, too. This way of thinking reminds me of Tsukumo-gami, the yokai that used to be the old household tools.)
