Our oldest son has five , and our youngest son has four. Then you count all the animals because they mean a lot to us also and between all of us we have numerous. They get hot too, and they still need to eat and go outside and come in with a daily routine.

We had boards on the out side and still had to screw two boards on the inside of our double door to our back yard because the wind was so strong it was pushing them open. They said it was a cat 1 but I don’t believe it. We have broken / cut up trees and branches lining our roads through our entire city. It messed us up bad down here. Trees through peoples roofs and roofs blown off , as bad as we had it , Houston is worse off.

For me the horror is that we do NOT have enough material to restore power, property, transportation after each of the BIGGEST storms coming at us. Are they setting us up to do without power, etc... until the season is over , because we don't have men or materials to repair over and over and over...

I'm in Houston and we just got our power back on. Bayl was a class 1 hurricane by the time it hit my area in Spring. it was as bad as you could think for a class 1. Now let me tell you something. I will not stay for a class 2 or above hurricane. It's just way too dangerous to stay. Our area looks like a war zone right now. We had to sit outside with shotguns to prevent looting. The heat was the worst part of the storm. We had temps at 100 with 80% humidity. That was the worst part in my opinion. Having said that, 7 homes in our area were destroyed by falling trees. We had one elderly lady die from a tree falling on her.

Gas, propane and ice have been sold out for days, even in numerous outlying cities. Many grocery stores and restaurants have no power. The dairy and meat aisles of our local Kroger, Aldi and Target are empty. The stores had to toss all of the perishable food. People are waiting in lines 1 - 1.5 hours to get gas. Numerous people on my local Facebook groups are saying they had to toss hundreds of dollars worth of food. It is shocking to me to see how much people did not prepare for this storm. I went to Aldi two days in a row to top off my purified water stash. There were no limits on water. Hardly anyone else was buying it, even though it was only 4 -5 days before the storm hit. Many people did not fill up their gas tanks beforehand. If we have a long term "grid down" scenario - which is highly likely - we are in trouble. People will lose their minds.
@@monicat4205 Because our house is tied to a powerline that supports doctors' offices, we got our power back on yesterday. We lent out our generator to my elderly mother's physical therapist. He lives right down the road. They still don't have power and it could take weeks. We do what we can to help out those who need it, with what we have and can spare. Makes perfect sense make storms stronger and more destructive take out of as much old structures so when they build them back they have to follow every new structure built the way the government wants you to. I live north of Houston I’ve gone through a total of 8 five gallons of gas as of 4am today. Still no power and I don’t see any lines down around us and never see a utility truck. It’s corruption at its finest. Corporations and politicians. Long gas lines and I don’t see the stations being replenished either.
We were out of electricity for 28 days from Katrina. We lived a good 60 miles north of New Orleans. Washed our cloths by hand Zander hung them up on a line outside and they would sour, it was that hot, very hot. Weather has definitely changed. Be prepared. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

right there is no way i would ever live near any coastline either i live in Oklahoma we get enough Tornado's here i would not want to have to deal with hurricanes too especially since they are controlling the weather with their weather modifing systems
OK, something you need to understand about preparing for a hurricane,,, it doesn’t always involve just water and food. Especially when you’re talking about a cat 3 or higher. . We just went through a cat 1 and there is still so much devastation down here from that. Take Ike in 08 he was a cat 4. Devastated Galveston and wiped out bolivar Peninsula. People were found floating on land. You don’t prepare with food and water for these things you get out of their way. This was the second cat one that we rode out in our home and we will not do it again. We had to nail boards on the inside of our doors because the wind was so strong. It was pushing them in. No one should worry about their house more than their life. if they’ve got a cat 2 coming they need to get what they want and leave ,,, if you’re so worried about your house You probably need to buy one someplace else other than on the coast. We know that six months out of the year is hurricane season but this is also our home. Our kids our grandkids and our great-grandkids are all around here. I’ve lived here almost my entire life and I’m 71 years old so there’s no point in me going someplace else at this time. We love where we live. God has put us here for a purpose. We don’t sit in fear of the next one that’s coming ,,, we watch it. We wait to see what it’s gonna be and see if we need to get out of its way. But we just go on with our life just like you do where you live.
I saw a video recently about waterproof containers to protect items buried. With all the tornados this spring and now heavy rains plus hurricanes, definitely need sealed containers! Having multiple households 30-50-100 miles apart partnering together will increase chances of having supplies after a disaster. Hopefully, not everyone would be catastrophically damaged by the same event.

i had bought a 4 patriot 2000 plus and it worked great for my full size fridge as well as my air conditioner with two 100 watt solor panels with extended battery and inverter i was living off grid for awhile with that and a gas generator for when the sun didn't shine to charge my solor panels for my solor generator

Folks in South Central / South Texas unfortunately didn’t learn much after Snowmageddon 2021. OR Katrina. Those Storms were on the Radar for at least 5 days. So was Beryl. Doesn’t appear a lot of Advanced Readiness was done….in anticipation of Beryl. Water, non-Perishable food, alt. Fuel source for cooling. SHADE cloth! Anything! And with the Texas Heat that’s been Brutal. Everyone is griping out Center Point Energy for electricity. Crews were coming as far away as Ohio. After Snowmageddon 2021 here in North East Texas…we had NO POWER for 10 days. No gas pumps. No Water pumping. Nada. We bought a Champion Dual Fuel portable generator. Also 2 4Patriot Side Kicks. I’m on Oxygen and a CPAP. You just DONT mess around
I was volunteering in a charity store yesterday. Everyone was complaining about the weather. It rains nearly every day, with white skies and no sign of the sun. I was shivering with the cold yesterday. People commented that so many countries are being roasted, whilst we are being chilled to the bone. It's so cold now, it feels like November.

I live an hour south of Houston. We got a direct hit. 93.5 % of my county was without power. No food no gas no FEMA. Lost power Sunday night and are still without power. Lost all of our cold food. Slowly getting power to business and luckily was able to buy a generator yesterday. A lot of people still struggling. Glad I now have a generator for future storms.
My best friend is in Houston, and she is still without electricity. Many political and corporate 'rumors' coming out, hard to say what is true or not. But living on the gulf coast my entire life tells me this : it should not take an entire week for a city to recover electricity from a category one. We had better prepare. The fiasco of Katrina almost 20 years ago will continue to happen with even weaker hurricanes as our infrastructure continues to degrade at the same rate corporate greed increases. I'm in NW Central, FL. Irma got us but not as bad as central. we are 20 minutes inland from the gulf and still lost power for 6 days. Lesson learned. All freezer food gets can dehydrated or cooked up into meals and put back in the freezer. The meals can then go into a fuller if we run out of gas for our generator. As they thought they will be eaten. The refrigerator keeps a minimal supply at this time of year. I have about a dozen 3 l soda bottles that I have saved for years. They get filled with water before the storm. I freeze all of them. They help to keep the freezer viable for at least 3 days once the power is lost and they are cold drinking water as they thaw as well. The in-house freezer gets filled with individual water bottles. Plus we keep gallons of drinking water In our pantry. Propane tanks are filled up for running the grill. This is how we heat and cook food. And of course the grill stays outside. We are not in a low-lying area so we're good on the flooding. One of these days my OTR husband will get our solar put up on the roof. We have a 9.2k battery backup to go with it. In the meantime we're going old school. 100 gallons of fuel for the generator and 3 propane tanks should cover us for a week. We have DVD's out the wazzu to watch when bored plus games. Since I've been prepping for over 3 years we have plenty that we don't even have to leave our house for a while and longer once the solar is up and running. If a hurricane comes at us from the West there is a forest dividing us and the coastline so that will be a wind/water break. Trees are the bigger issue in this area. We only have a couple left that could become a potential problem and one of them is getting cut down next weekend. If the solar is up we have one good size room that is air conditionable with a 450 W unit if necessary. We also have a '99 F250 that's lifted with an 8 foot bed and can rescue one of our daughters and her family being they live in a low lying area with a lake. Plus we can provide for all. We also have 55g rain drums with filters on one. The other is for flushing if no solar. Our well is the #1 thing going on our solar, a mini fridge, pantry ac, 16cu ft freezer and a small appliance outlet. Lots of $1 solar stake lights for lighting and oil lamps plus an emergency radio. We're set 😊

We were out of electricity for 28 days from Katrina. We lived a good 60 miles north of New Orleans.
Washed our cloths by hand Zander hung them up on a line outside and they would sour, it was that hot, very hot.

OK, something you need to understand about preparing for a hurricane,,, it doesn’t always involve just water and food. Especially when you’re talking about a cat 3 or higher. . We just went through a cat 1 and there is still so much devastation down here from that. Take Ike in 08 he was a cat 4. Devastated Galveston and wiped out bolivar Peninsula. People were found floating on land. You don’t prepare with food and water for these things you get out of their way. This was the second cat one that we rode out in our home and we will not do it again. We had to nail boards on the inside of our doors because the wind was so strong. It was pushing them in. No one should worry about their house more than their life. if they’ve got a cat 2 coming they need to get what they want and leave ,,, if you’re so worried about your house You probably need to buy one someplace else other than on the coast. We know that six months out of the year is hurricane season but this is also our home. Our kids our grandkids and our great-grandkids are all around here. I’ve lived here almost my entire life and I’m 71 years old so there’s no point in me going someplace else at this time. We love where we live. God has put us here for a purpose. We don’t sit in fear of the next one that’s coming ,,, we watch it. We wait to see what it’s gonna be and see if we need to get out of its way. But we just go on with our life just like you do where you live.

I saw a video recently about waterproof containers to protect items buried. With all the tornados this spring and now heavy rains plus hurricanes, definitely need sealed containers! Having multiple households 30-50-100 miles apart partnering together will increase chances of having supplies after a disaster. Hopefully, not everyone would be catastrophically damaged by the same event.

i had bought a 4 patriot 2000 plus and it worked great for my full size fridge as well as my air conditioner with two 100 watt solor panels with extended battery and inverter i was living off grid for awhile with that and a gas generator for when the sun didn't shine to charge my solor panels for my solor generator

Folks in South Central / South Texas unfortunately didn’t learn much after Snowmageddon 2021. OR Katrina. Those Storms were on the Radar for at least 5 days. So was Beryl.
Doesn’t appear a lot of Advanced Readiness was done….in anticipation of Beryl. Water, non-Perishable food, alt. Fuel source for cooling. SHADE cloth! Anything! And with the Texas Heat that’s been Brutal. Everyone is griping out Center Point Energy for electricity. Crews were coming as far away as Ohio.
After Snowmageddon 2021 here in North East Texas…we had NO POWER for 10 days. No gas pumps. No Water pumping. Nada.
We bought a Champion Dual Fuel portable generator. Also 2 4Patriot Side Kicks. I’m on Oxygen and a CPAP. You just DONT mess around

I was volunteering in a charity store yesterday. Everyone was complaining about the weather. It rains nearly every day, with white skies and no sign of the sun. I was shivering with the cold yesterday. People commented that so many countries are being roasted, whilst we are being chilled to the bone. It's so cold now, it feels like November.
My Fiancee works for a power company and they are ditting in SC to be called to Texas, no one in Texas is calling back to get power back.. crazy!!

I live an hour south of Houston. We got a direct hit. 93.5 % of my county was without power. No food no gas no FEMA. Lost power Sunday night and are still without power. Lost all of our cold food. Slowly getting power to business and luckily was able to buy a generator yesterday. A lot of people still struggling. Glad I now have a generator for future storms.

My best friend is in Houston, and she is still without electricity. Many political and corporate 'rumors' coming out, hard to say what is true or not. But living on the gulf coast my entire life tells me this : it should not take an entire week for a city to recover electricity from a category one.
We had better prepare. The fiasco of Katrina almost 20 years ago will continue to happen with even weaker hurricanes as our infrastructure continues to degrade at the same rate corporate greed increases.

I'm in NW Central, FL. Irma got us but not as bad as central. we are 20 minutes inland from the gulf and still lost power for 6 days. Lesson learned. All freezer food gets can dehydrated or cooked up into meals and put back in the freezer. The meals can then go into a fuller if we run out of gas for our generator. As they thought they will be eaten. The refrigerator keeps a minimal supply at this time of year. I have about a dozen 3 l soda bottles that I have saved for years. They get filled with water before the storm. I freeze all of them. They help to keep the freezer viable for at least 3 days once the power is lost and they are cold drinking water as they thaw as well. The in-house freezer gets filled with individual water bottles. Plus we keep gallons of drinking water In our pantry. Propane tanks are filled up for running the grill. This is how we heat and cook food. And of course the grill stays outside. We are not in a low-lying area so we're good on the flooding. One of these days my OTR husband will get our solar put up on the roof. We have a 9.2k battery backup to go with it. In the meantime we're going old school. 100 gallons of fuel for the generator and 3 propane tanks should cover us for a week. We have DVD's out the wazzu to watch when bored plus games. Since I've been prepping for over 3 years we have plenty that we don't even have to leave our house for a while and longer once the solar is up and running. If a hurricane comes at us from the West there is a forest dividing us and the coastline so that will be a wind/water break. Trees are the bigger issue in this area. We only have a couple left that could become a potential problem and one of them is getting cut down next weekend. If the solar is up we have one good size room that is air conditionable with a 450 W unit if necessary. We also have a '99 F250 that's lifted with an 8 foot bed and can rescue one of our daughters and her family being they live in a low lying area with a lake. Plus we can provide for all. We also have 55g rain drums with filters on one. The other is for flushing if no solar. Our well is the #1 thing going on our solar, a mini fridge, pantry ac, 16cu ft freezer and a small appliance outlet. Lots of $1 solar stake lights for lighting and oil lamps plus an emergency radio. We're set 😊
