Well, I think it was only for Sonic 3 only, they couldn't use it for any other game after 3, and it can't be because of SEGA *****, the Sonic & Knuckles Collection came out in 1999 and this song was replaced. They must have had a deal for that one game.

I like carnival night but it really isn't iconic enough when compared to the other options, I can get on board with Flying Battery however I had another idea that would have been cooler IMO. Seaside hill seemed like a waste to me, we had our obligatory "hill" level at the start so, I would have used the Egg Fleet as the representative for Heroes, it's iconic and is really different from the other levels, not to mention it has a tonne of alternate routes and it allows for a major opportunity for fan service as Winged Fortress, Flying Battery and The Egg Carrier could have been included in the fleet as alternate routes. (Would have been awesome ......but oh well). Only real beef I have with generations is that there were too many city levels.
I like your versions of these songs best because you keep the original feel of the songs intact. These are what I wanted the music on sonic mania to be like.

I just looked up what everyone is talking about, and turns out there's a controversy where there's a lot of older Sonic games that have music that sound like songs from The Jetzons or Michael Jackson, such as this one, which sounds very similar to Hard Times by The Jetzons, which is also a banger. It seems that Sega stole these songs and turned them into Sonic music. Also, I wanted to mention that in some of the segments, there's a noise that kind of sounds like the sound effect that plays when you get a trophy in Super Smash Bros Brawl. That's the only game I can remember it from.

Sonic generations should have split 3 and Knuckles to put both Ice Cap and Sky Sanctuary in as levels
